I believe the most difficult thing to teach in music is how seven simple notes when combined connect us to our lives, our journey and our feelings and emotions...if you ever wanted to know how to achieve this...then watch this video. Simple yet brilliant. I would only want to add one comment...where do the seven notes actually come from? and why only seven? the answer is lost to time.
Amazing Charming Helpful I Never ever Seen like this before i really don,t have such words for You ......................... I LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS AND HAVE LEARNT MANY MORE .......
Lol. I get a kick from anyone trying to claim to teach music theory in a few minutes. I mean, it is possible to condense theory in a few minutes but to really understand how harmony and emotion entangle in order to get a melody that is marketable...takes years years years. I hate to break it to you people, but unless you're thinking of just making pop songs with a two or three-note melody, this video and all others like them are only going to be stepping stones to years of studying. Yes...you'll actually have to read...a thing called a book. For now, just memorize a basic chord progression and boom...you can make a song. I'm just posting this to give a reality check to aspiring orchestral composers that think going from nothing to watching a 10-30 minute video on music theory toot is going to make them the next John Williams. Lol...sorry, but it ain't going to happen for at least a couple years. Maybe within one year if all you do is compose. If you really want to be this guy...study religiously. Get books on orchestration and music theory; like basic textbooks used at a University. Look them up. There are so many recommendations online that you'll find your way. Good luck out there.
This is probably the best tutorial I've seen how to build your chord progression to build a story. Very very awesome video. Thank you very much! I wish I found this video some months earlier =D
Thanks Ian!! I love Cornwall! One of my best friends (and a great composer as well!!) lives there and I've visited them multiple times. Beautiful area!!
Thank you Brother. Genuine insight expressed with such passion. That makes for a great teacher and genius composer! Subscribed and looking forward for more!
Wow, thanks for it, great! I subscribe and I will have a look to your channel. I was surprised when you said (uno, cuatro, cinco), now I won't forget that 😜
Broad strokes very helpful. Without classical training, playing by ear is easier to reverse engineer with your explanations. I wonder if I can massage a note completely in Cakewalk like you do with a controller in 'Write Dynamics Like a Pro for Realistic Sounding Virtual Instruments (MIDI)' ?.. I mean, prolly can with a plugin?.. Great content.
No tienes este vídeo en Español,me se todas las escalas desde C mayor hasta la B mayor y también así con las menores pero no quiero pasar desapercibido todos tus pasos en la guía de definitiva de producción musical debido a que no se hablar Ingles gracias
Very helpful many thanks. But thinking create orchestral(epic, sad, romantic) music. Example ; How is create template? or how many violin or different inst? or etc Where to start ?
Seria bueno que pudiera hacer esto mismo en español o por lo menos los subtítulos. Seria de gran ayuda para aquello que no comprendan del todo el inglés y buscaran información como estas. saludos
Very good.. I have a question... Why 4th and 5th intervals are called "Perfect" ?.. I do not see the need. Can you call them 4th and 5th?. Anyone knows why they are called "Perfect".
@@Amatteus Just a small intro of intervals... Perfect ( 4 ,5 ) if u increase half semitone then it is said as Augmented..if u decrease haof semitone then it is said to be as Diminished...otherwise it is always as perfect 4th and perfect 5th..
@@Username.........4796 I do not get it.. Why they are not called all 7 the same. with minor or augmented when you decrease or increase half step. Why 4th and 5th have a different name ?. What is different in them?

Marc, please teach me! Unfortunately, I can't afford to buy your course, even at a discount. I have no income at all now and I am trying to realize myself in order to survive. But I love the way you teach. I'm glad I got to your channel by subscribing to your newsletters. Thanks.
Thanks for your message! No worries! I'll be posting content periodically and I hope to bring as much value as I can. Comment and ask questions to let me know what topics you're interested about! 💗🤟
@@CinematicComposing Thanks for the quick response. I don't know English that well, I myself am from western Ukraine. I am trying to learn to understand music theory as you know it. As it is known in other countries, and not like ours. I'm 29 and I think I've spent too many years in the wrong place. I want to do well now, thanks to the quarantine. In this video, you said that it takes a lot of practice to learn how to combine all these things that you said. But how exactly do I need to practice? What should I do every day and how should I do it in order to have a good result? I want to learn. Thanks!
This is the best approach to explain music theory for beginners
I wish I found you 2yrs ago

technically it is 7 notes if you're not counting half-steps, but 11 if you are. so one might argue the answer was in plain sight all along...
GREAT TEACHER! Some take years to teach same thing!!!!👍
Thanks Marc, this is a great explanation - I'm saving it for future reference!
