Hi I wanted to purchase a gold plated stainless steel necklace from a store I was wondering if the gold would be able to go in water or will it fade away over time also would stainless steel be capable of going in water without rusting or tarnishing I’ve been getting different answers
hi yes you can go in the water no problem if the plating is very thin it will wear off or can also tarnish depending what the base metal is as gold never tarnish

yes it will on nickel you can plate gold directly on brass you need to nickel plate first and on weld steel you may have to copper and nickel plate first

And how long it would take I can overnight it and have it overnight back once it’s done. It’s for a customer of mines I do a lot of work for. I’ve had no luck in finding a sink that has his shape in gold.

Great informational video. Do you know how toxic or dangerous is the manipulation of the chemicals and elements used in the process of gold plating at home? I see you're wearing some rubber gloves, but, because of the camera angle, I can't see if you're also wearing a protective mask (for the chemical fumes) of some sort. Please advice. Cheers

The gold and silver plating is not toxic at all and I do not wear any mask
If you do chrome stripper that’s toxic yes

depending if you plate a thick layer of gold like 3 plus microns gold would be better but normally pvd last longer if you compare it to a gold plating of less than 0.5 micron

depending on the plating thickness the longer you plate the thicker is the plating we talking about 0.5 to 3 microns
On bike parts? Do they corrode afterwards? Silencer ,rim etc
depending what material you plate on to
as gold never tarnish or corrode however if you plate a thin layer of gold on to steel it will rust under the gold but if you plate on to stainless steel that will never corrode

@@GoldenSolutionPlating thank you for that because the reason I asked you that is because I have made a clay sculpture of tutankhamun and a couple of other things from clay then I cover the whole thing in epoxy resin first then i use real gold leaf to cover them over afterwards then I had a thought if I have to buy a tin of special paint that has metal bits in it too be able to electro plating plastic resin then what is the point of having to buy a tin of paint specifically for electroplating solution when metal leaf will do the same job what do you think any good or not!

@@GoldenSolutionPlating i have started using real genuine gold leaf last year and this stuff is stunning to look at but when I saw someone posting things done by electroplating solution it completely blew me away and changed my mind on gold leaf instantly and putting my work too shame when I realized what electroplating is after all these years has totally blown me away because of its brilliant high quality shine and now I myself want to get into this amazing experience with electroplating solution because I use a lot of epoxy resin to make all kinds of things and cover them as well and it says electroplating solution can be done on plastic acrylic as well and epoxy resin is a kind of plastic acrylic at the end of the day and will have to buy this paint for electroplating it says!

you gold plated,,im talking about copper plating directly to SS,,i tried and it does not work ,rubs off ,so i am asking you can you copper plate ss directly or does it need some kind of preparation?
and you used something called pmu so i would not say you done it directly

Yes you need to nickel strike or gold flash before copper plating
ARCSTREAMS it is directly because the mpu is a cleaning and activating compound as a replacement for cleaner and activator
