Celine and her dynamics don't get enough credit. Her constantly using dynamics in runs, simple phrases and for emotion too... insane. She can go full throttle, to a tiny piannissimo and BACK without breaking a sweat
I agree ! But I also think Celine is a beloved vocalist who is adored internationally. So I think plenty of people understand how phenomenal she is. She also has a new documentary in the works.
Can we talk about how they're tones match so perfectly? I love Céline's soft tone here btw, and at the end when they harmonize in pianissimo🔥

100% The richness and depth of his voice with the strength and brightness of Celine‘s vocals, creates a vibrant juxtaposition. It’s like a nostalgic warm hug for me reminiscing on my days as a child in the 90’s.
Ugh! Ever since I was a child I loved Peabo Bryson ..this song gave me chills than and still does as a 34yr woman. Both him and Celine straight killed this song. Nobody else can compare 😊

Celina Dion: the Queen of texture and dynamic AND she can do all of the runs. Her breathyness into full is unbeatable, Titanic is the perfect song to showcase this style as well as this song. Peobo also is World class and probably my favourite male vocalist of all time. Together, they are pure MAGIC. Thank you for this analysis, I loved hearing this song again and your thoughts.

What I love about Céline is that she really telegraphs when she is in the moment and feeling what the other singer is doing. In the duet with DC3, she did this wrist flick thing.

Peabo’s duet career started with his duet album with Natalie Cole. It was a beautiful pairing of voices. He then went on to duet with Roberta Flack, Regina Belle, Celine Dion. Some of the most beautiful voices to ever sing before a microphone ❤

Celine loved Aretha, Streisand, Michael Jackson and the Bee Gees. Charles Aznavour and Ginette Reno. Of course she idolized Whitney, who is more of a contemporary. Celine also speaks highly of Christina Aguilera!
Celine is the youngest of 14 kids so her influences were as varied as her siblings. They are all musicians and singers ... she really seems to have been the sponge of music as she can sing in all genres. I have said it many times. you may or may not like the voice or the songs choices but, In My Opinion, Céline is a gifted musician and her instrument is her voice.
Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand and Aretha are the ones she always mentions😊

I learned how to play this song on the piano when I was old enough to comprehend their greatness and I used to LOVE the last part when Celine did her little vocal run before they both come back in with the harmony to end the song.
Peabo is one of my greatest inspirations for vocals. I am a power metal vocalist and disney prince vocals is kind of a trait in our scene. Peabo has the perfect "princey" voice, and he can be so bendingly strong and velvety soft at the same time, and how he manages to do the crispy fry while he is doing harmonies is still a mystery. I cannot do it. It is so hard to replicate what he does with the calmest ease. What a singer he is, a master tenor for sure.

This song is and always will be an amazing classic. This is an example of two gifted singers who know their instrument, it’s just like they were 2 additional instruments in the orchestra. They know how to use their voices to tell a story and to evoke emotion. I can’t imagine this song sung by any other artists. Love the vocal analysis on this one.

42 YO French-Canadian here :) I've naturally followed her career since I was pretty young so may I suggest you analyze her song "L'amour existe encore" sung live in 1992 with orchestra. She knocks it off the park and I'd love to see how you feel the emotions from this. Speaking of another emotional French song, I'd suggest dearly to listen to Lara Fabian's rendition of "Je suis malade" sung live in Montreal (there's one with English subtitles). Everyone says it's a masterclass not only for singing techniques, but on how to deliver emotions.
