How to Record Vocals in FL Studio in Under 1 Minute

- I'm going to show you the steps you need to take to record vocals in FL studio in under a minute.
1. Hook up your microphone to your audio interface.
2. setup your audio interface in FL Studio
3. Pick an empty track in the playlist
4. Select an empty mixer track
5. Select the audio input you plugged your mic into
6. check your mic
7. start recording

Thanks so much, you saved my lazy ass. Ive been producing for 4 years but rarely recorded vocals, and started practicing on that more. I never knew that you have to select insert track and use track mode, I did it raw and for some reason in there it also picked the beat in the track and I ruined a lot of vocals like that, almost wanted to switch daw for that. Keep it up, really good tips!

Also an audio interface is not essential btw it just really helps with delay/latency and I think it makes your vocals have a bit more quality in them

Please help. I just found your video. I cannot hear my voice through my mic when I'm ready to record. My mic is selected as the input device under FL Studios' input/output section, but I can't hear my voice. I can hear my voice using the laptop's mic, but not the condenser mic I have connected to a Fast Track USB which is then connected to my laptop and listed in FL Studio as the input device. Thanks.

hey what mic do you have? I’m currently looking and I have a Hyper X Gaming Mic.
when i unlink from my master so i can record without hearing myself, for some reason when i press record i can jusr see the lines and hear no audio

If you finish recording and all the files that you recorded are still running through that mixer track, you need to reconnect the track to the master.
Or you need to change the track that those recorded vocals go through in the mixer.

My fl doesn't show my Audio interface as ASIO. It just shows FL ASIO and ASIO for all. Why?
You may need to go download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and install it.

if you are using a condenser mic with an XLR connection, then you will need an audio interface.
After I record I can’t hear my vocals but I can see them
Check on your audio interface to see if your monitor knob is turned to listen to what is coming from the computer or the interface.

Does a different audio interface have different sound quality I got a scarlet 1st gen
They do have different qualities.
But most interfaces are pretty decent.
When I record audio it doesn't stay in 1 track, do you know why this happens?
If you setup to record from the mixer it will put your audio in whatever empty track is available. But there is a way to make sure that the tracks all stay in the same lane. You can setup to record from the playlist.

Have a strong vision, never doubt yourself.
This is just too complex compared to other DAWs. I regret getting FL Studio.

You can always check to see if you have the right driver downloaded if you are using a usb mic.
