Vacuum Measurement Equipment: Capacitive Technology

Accurate pressure measurement is key in vacuum-assisted production. Only the right pressure can ensure the efficiency of the process and a high-quality end product. There are a variety of different sensor technologies available to check that this pressure is attained. Each technology measures a specific vacuum range with the highest accuracy. In this video, we will show you the principle behind capacitive technology.
For rough and medium vacuum applications (200 to 0.1 hPa (mbar)), a capacitive gauge is the best choice. This high-resolution gauge gives an accurate pressure reading by direct pressure measurement. It operates with two electrodes: One fixed, and one flexible. The flexible electrode, in the form of a diaphragm, moves according to a difference in pressure. This affects the capacitance: the closer the electrodes, the higher the capacitance - and the higher the pressure.
