I think it was a smart trade since you live in the great white north drive let it sets for awhile then put in that small block you talked about and i think( el cos) are realy going up in value! Good move Cory! 4spds are f n cool.
I don't know what the bike looked like, (so don't know if it was a good swap) but saw this unit at the show, and the body and paint is amazing. And the colour (green) is amazing! I see "me" talking to your brother about the Hudson in front of this unit as you are talking.
Way to clean to cruise around in the snow . If you do make sure you add sand bags to the bed and put some pizza cutters on the rear... wide tires in the snow on any year el camino turns you into a professional drifter or someone with higher insurance rates lol
That's a really nice car Corey, eventually needs a big block or an LS though. The Only time my truck has ever been in a U tube video! Reflected glory! The black Tundra is mine. I came over and said Hi to Chris while you guys were off getting something to eat and he told me it was your new ride. You even got me and my buddy in the video but our backs were turned talking to the Nova guy with the paxton blower after he pulled in. Like I told Chris, Keep up the good work, I enjoy watching local guys on the U tubes.
Hi Penny's Crew . Really nice El Camino ,Cory . It should drive really nice . I really love my '85 Cutlas ,it's a fun car . Gotta go ...the dog wants to go outside !
My youngest son's first car was a 1985 Olds Cutlass Supreme with the Buick 3.8 in it. It had about 70K miles on it and he drove it for 7 years, it was still running fine when he got rid of it. Lots of people had lower end problems on those engines, they tended to spin bearings but my son was not a kid that tended to drive fast.
WOW. I really like it. Good for you. I would change the tires to at least white walls. They look too plane. But it is your car/truck. Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍
You'll have to change your channel name to Penny's Green Hotrods. Dan's Dodge, this one, the studebaker, the Ford pickup. Is the Hudson Greenish? Lol. Keep up the great content.
Blow some POR 15 or some kind of rust preventive paint in the rear frame rails Corey, they have a tendency of rotting out in there because of the exhaust and road debris. I had a 78 Malibu that did that, for the last 1 1/2 yrs I punched holes in the trunk and wrapped a chain around the frame to keep the bumper on!
Some one all ready if that underneath it was one of the first things I looked when I was there. Looks really nice underneath and clean. Funny story I help a friend spray foam a frame to hide the rot and we undercoated it for a safety it passed thar was many years ago
Cool Elky, has almost a copo look to it.I have never owned a G body bit I hear they are bad for rear frame rust but I imagine you checked all that. Love the colour too.
Yes, the frame turns outwards behind the back wheels, and fills with mud and other wet garbage! Saw this unit at this show! Very nice body and paint. I have a video of this show coming out Oct 9th (2021)
@@pennyshotrodscustoms You should be able to repair it. Graft another back piece from a good one, or do a frame swap? You guys have the skills for sure!
@@kevintyler8710 Whip it good! Corey and his El Camino almost had me buy a 71 El Camino last night! Has low miles about 85, 000. Never painted it. Put 2" exhaust w/Flowmasters, chevelle tips/chrome. I also have a cowl hood for it I've not put on yet.

Sunroof optional too!
Now I realize why you said ha ha about my comment about mine having a V6 ! The only problem I had with mine was the timing chain would stretch to the point it was hitting the cover . Went through about four of them . Nice car though .
It may be swapped out for the manual, but my dad had a 79 with a factory 4 speed and he always remarked on how they didn't change the cluster at the factory to eliminate the PRND21
A 4 speed G-Body Elky or Malibu is fairly rare. Ive seen a couple Malibus, but this is the 1st El Camino. The 3.8 will keep you outta trouble and save some gas. That's in awesome shape for the age and If it was an AZ car, it must have been in a garage a lot, because the sun destroys interiors down there. But yeah i dig it, however, it's way to slow and quiet for a Corey car!!!
@@pennyshotrodscustoms even if the 3.8 grenades, because it is so clean and original....man it would be hard for me to put in anything else. That 4 speed and lower rear gear has to make the 3.8 somewhat better to drive than a high gear and slushbox (auto)
Awesome trade that's a beautiful El Camino I love the color interior the rims the tires awesome trade not to mention it's a lot safer for you. Good deal on that one beautiful car 👍🏼
@@pennyshotrodscustoms I know I sounded like the standard old joke but seriously, you could easily turbo that existing v6 with junkyard parts and keep the sleeper look but blow the doors off most v8’s. Much easier and cheaper than swapping in engines. It will drive smooth under normal load and really wake up when needed. Add a better cam and valve train and the power goes up even more, all on pump gas. But it’s definitely a cool Elco.
I'm pretty sure the stick cars still had P RND21 with that gauge cluster. There's a blank plate that covered it that's held on with 2 screws. My 79 was a factory v6 with 3 speed in the floor but it had the long speedometer and no guages. Only idiot lights and the fuel gauge. My 85 has the same gauge cluster as yours but that ticking grandfather clock in the cluster had to go😂😂 I replaced it with a tach. Unfortunately they only have them for v8's so it's just for looks until the v8 goes in.
