📝Basic information:
Location: Poland
Date of recording: August 2022
About my work - I remove beaver dams when I receive an order from a state organization.
I do not choose which dam to remove. It is decided by officials at the request of nearby residents. Each dam is assessed in advance if it can and if should be dismantled.
Removing the dam is not a threat to beavers. I do not remove their houses - lodges.
Dams are removed only in places where beavers cause damage, for example by flooding nearby fields, flooding the basements of nearby houses, or when the stream on which beavers built their dam is degraded.
Even though beavers are very invasive animals, they are under strict protection in our country.
I personally like all animals, so beavers are fine too.

Hello Maria! We’ve had rain off an on and thunderstorms but, nothing like flooding. I spent four hours yesterday at the hospital for pre-op and because there is a lot of road work being done all over the city, it makes the trek from the suburbs a pain in the …… A twenty minute drive becomes ninety minutes.
Surgery in nine days and was informed that it’ll be robotics, so I’ll have a bionic knee done by a robot! 😄😄😄 I’m trying to maintain my sense of humour….
I had to stop using the bike, as it seems to make walking more difficult the next day.

I'll bet the farmers were glad to see that dam being removed! What a beautiful place Poland is. I have had the pleasure of driving through the Tatras mountains from Slovakia into southern Poland and then west into Germany. I would absolutely love to see more of Poland.

I missed seeing you post the last two days and hoped you were ok
We had heavy rain where we live but did not get flooded out
We did however on Christmas Day about ten years ago, the day began with high heat and our granddaughters were swimming in the pool ( we’ve taken it out since then and have gardens there instead), then in the afternoon we had hail stones as large as walnuts which blocked the spouting and water came in and we needed to replace the carpets in the house. That was a weird day
All the family were here for Christmas Day and all the cars were damaged by hailstones
Melbourne`s weather is so changeable
We seem to follow Adelaide’s weather and get it a day or so later

I wonder why there are blocks on both sides? Did someone hold the water back in the past? Great camera work!!
Judging by the slots in the blocks it looks as though planks of wood can be used to dam the water if they wish, perhaps to store water or clean out downstream.

@@juliamarchese6241 in Wyoming my family learnt the hard way when it came to dismantling beaver dams. Initially we would cart the dam material away by tractor thinking this would discourage them and hopefully move them on..Wrong...beavers will use at first use whatever material is closest to the water..because we took this material away they will take the next best thing...standing trees ..the destruction and the heartache and tears this caused us. Beavers will only cut down a standing tree as a last resort. The lesson ...leave the extracted dam material right next to the river for them to rebuild which they will inevitably do....Otherwise you will have an environment that resembles the moon!
