Just a suggestion why not get as far down as you can get with mini excavator and reach out as far as possible to the other side of dam and drag to you . That way remove more of the dam and can back up and still clear it out. That was a suggestion from a person with 25 years running mini excavator. Showed to neighbor and was his suggestion.

Make me understand the reason for digging a ditch in the bank on the edge of the beaver dam and leaving the dam in place.

They couldn't reach out far enough to get the dam, making a bigger hole lets out more water

You took the words out of my fingers. I'm not a big fan of a tractor for most beaver dams. When appropriate, they can bust a dam, bigtime. I'd really hate to break one though.

What ever you buy you will need an extra 2 to 3 meters of reach so that you can safely dig out those beaver dams starting on the far side of the dam and working backwards.

If this is in Europe, which it looks like, it is funny that the naturalists want to release beavers but they don't have to clear up the mess that beavers make. Looks like a good tool for the job that you now have to do with beaver dam destruction.

The excavator should "win" every time except a) this one has about the smallest bucket imaginable and b) the operator just obviously isn't comfortable getting close to the edge of the water.

I think the backhoe was one of those "we'll make it work," and it was so-so. On the 3rd dam, I don't understand why he left more than half of the dam in place. The 2nd video ... well ... that "machine," whatever it was, simply wasn't very well suited for the job. I'm guessing that's all they had, perhaps? What they need is an excavator that I saw used in another video of yours. It was a very long reach excavator with a WIDE bucket. That guy knew what he was doing! I still enjoyed watching!!! Stay safe!

It is not smart to start digging on the same sidemas the machine. You are taking away the ground for working on the other side of the river: Amatør.

Greetings from the BIG SKY. Let's see about this machine. I think you deal with your beaver dams better by hand than machine. Maybe it's the size of the dams or the knowledge of the equipment operators. It would be interesting to find out how expensive a rig like that costs to run and move.

it looks more interesting watching you break the dams. the machines kind of take away that excitement of watching the dams burst. Maybe they can go in after the water goes down and clean up better.

Some do less damage than others? The track seem less prone to getting stuck? Your method more environmentally friendly. An opinion anyway.

Bit of a dumb thing to do. You were fortunate enough to have a beaver pond and you destroyed it. If you want to control the water level, install a beaver deceiver and keep the pond. There are so many benefits from beaver ponds.
