    Ryan, I think you should stay in your current apartment. Based on your visa situation, your current school dynamics, money availability, and the horrendous cost of the new apartment. It just doesn't make sense.

    Im gonna be your big sister for a moment and say that you should stay in that appartment a little longer. Since you got so lucky with the cheap rent, and it also being closer to school. Also Im sure you are aware of all of this, I just didnt want "all" the comments to say "get it" haha. Also, also: I totally cant eat without watching a yt video either

    I have a feeling that we like to watch videos while eating because it makes us feel like we're having a meal together with someone and not just eating alone. I think meals are meant to be shared and eating can also be a social situation so the video fills the need!

    Stay, stay, stay in your apartment. If you take the new space you'll lose $3000 that could go to things much more fun. You need experiences and immersion in the community and you won't get that in a nicer place that encourages being inside. If you don't like your bathroom set-up go to a local sento (a calming and meditative experience), something you can't do almost anywhere else. Become Japanese!

    I feel like moving to that place isn’t really the smartest thing to do, especially if it’s double the rent just for a place that you think you want. You should most definitely wait on it til it feels right or keep looking at other’s, and if you feel like you need some change in your living space or life you could decorate it differently move some stuff around to change it up a bit. Really make your apartment feel like yours yk and be less impulsive to leave, or take up a couple of more hobbies or do some that’ll take a lot of your time from home so that when you’re not there you’ll miss it, if that makes sense.😄

    I'm not great with these types of things but I would say don't move quite yet. if everything is doubled INCLUDING your walk to school it's like kind of not worth it? I would say maybe go for it if you had the money and it was closer to your school that your current apartment, but its further so it's a no-go for me personally. You do you though!

    If you are "okay" with your current apartment - best to remain for now. The new place might be tempting but the move in cost is a lot. Best, to hold on, save or spend that money on "life" things that bring memories - like "travel". Sounds like the apartment now is a good price and isn't perfect but not horrid. Keep your life expenses low, and spend on the things that matter more. Think about it, typically after a few months the honeymoon phase of a larger space starts to fade. Once I heard, double the cost, double the commute - etc - from my experience - not worth it. My 2 cents for what it's worth.

  • @jennifermarieethemoneysaver
    @jennifermarieethemoneysaver ปีที่แล้ว

    And see it’s the needing that extra money to fill those voids to do other other things so it’s one of those this or that situations (Keep cheaper rent to have money for resources to fill voids for other things). Because new apartment = higher rent which would mean less money available for traveling etc

    So the new apartment would be twice as expensive as your current apartment and would be twice as far away from the place you go to on a daily basis? I would not do that. Having low monthly costs is so nice. You can afford so much more per month. You can save so much more money per month. Also you live there only for a year now and you think about getting an apartment that has about 5,000 $ initial costs, which basically is the costs for living 10 months in your current apartment. Living for one year in an apartment is NOTHING.

But for my neighborhood it’s affordable ($1100/month plus utilities). I really want to move because I really really want more space, ideally 2 bedrooms, but I would have to pay at least $4000 to move (first, last, and security).
