Been listening to these guys almost since the beginning, and this here is their best song, it's never been as good as this one. Can't wait to see/hear it in NYC in July.
Agreed, it's one of my favorites! Very exciting that you get to see them live, I live in Australia and they rarely come out here, the last time they did was in 2012 and they sold out very quickly I didn't get a ticket.
That's terrible, I feel your frustration. I'm very, very lucky, seen them over 20 times live, they're the best live band in the world today, IMO. I'll enjoy the show for both of us. :-)
They have so many amazing tracks its impossible to say which is the best, but its certainly one of the finest, blew me away, and a powerful message behind it. Radiohead are incredible!
We call upon the people People have this power The numbers don't decide Your system is a lie The river running dry The wings of a butterfly And you may pour us away like soup Like we're pretty broken flowers We'll take back what is ours Take back what is ours One day at a time
I knew from that Thom Yorke gig in Paris last December, that this song was going to blow people away. Then the absolute joy of the album version came out, and i was right. Such a sexy Late 60's feel to the groove and bass. Was waiting for the dirty strings to kick in, but alas.... still trying it i suppose . :)
It holds us like a phantom The touch is like a breeze It shines its understanding See the moon smiling Open on all channels Ready to receive And we're not at the mercy Of your shimmerers or spells Your shimmerers or spells Mmmhm We are of the earth To her we do return The future is inside us It's not somewhere else It's not somewhere else It's not somewhere else One day at a time We call upon the people People have this power The numbers don't decide Your system is a lie The river running dry The wings of a butterfly And you may pour us away like soup Like we're pretty broken flowers We'll take back what is ours Take back what is ours One day at a time
A bit disappointing that the LSO (or a subset of LSO) isn't touring with them but I knew that was a stretch. Still incredible and maybe they'll make a couple of well timed US appearances i.e. Lolla and ACL.
I think you can tell they haven't been playing this outstanding tune too long. It's not bad but it's not their best performance either. This is why I always like to wait until their new stuff has been out long enough for them to have really nailed playing it live before I get concert tickets. Love this tune so much though.
I've felt this way about most of their AMSP performances. They still have to work them out, but it'd be a shame either if they didn't play them. I'm just hoping that a couple of years down the line, they get them right. Still love them.
He always has, track down live versions of "No Surprises", "Lucky" and more, you'll see him doing his thing. His backing vocals are an integral part of the Radiohead sonic signature.
Damn, Ed OWNS this song.
great capture. thank you sooo much for sharing!
ED!!! ED!!! So fucking great!!!
It was Ed's finest hour.
beautiful
This is my favourite song on the album
Me too. I always like Thom's lyrics but he outdid himself with this track.

so beautiful
Ed nails it!!!

Que! hermosa voz! aunque me gusta mas verlo con el cabello corto! Lo amo!!

This song is hot.

Ed has a falsetto now?
+hopscotchoblivion ha

+David Biedny so much so that I'm surprised he hasn't done full vocals on something. Thom has so many solo things, does Ed not have any solo songs?
shit, Ed does do stuff
sounds like the song "melody" from gainsbourg
I hear a Nick Drake influence in this song
I hear it even more in Desert Island Disk.
EDDDDD

For being an English band, it annoys me how little they tour the UK. Come back to Scotland ffs! America and Europe and Asia have had their share.
