Being the age that I’m (47) and remembering this song from early preteens to now with Stranger Things because of my 15 year old son, I was like, oh wow!! How cool!! I haven’t heard this song in so long..we watched the series together, it’s our thing to do together at this moment. Ha.. But this,, this beautiful, amazing , incredible piano version is something else.. This brought me to tears of my past.. Friends, school and all the fun. I’ve had.. I love this, very well done❤️
I'm 34, but being born and raised in a rural part of Poland my childhood and early teens in late 90's and early 00's looked almost the same as the US portrayed by Stranger Things in '84-'87. Toys, tech, music, movies, board games - all of them were almost exactly as I remember them growing up. Usually they were cheap chinese knockoffs of the originals from the '80s, but still functionally the same. I think that the biggest difference was that among adults cars were much less common and most friends old enough to drive (you need to be 18+ here) didn't have their own at all.

My grandma passed away last night and this song has been appearing so much. When I listen to it I’m reminded to stay strong like her and survive for my loved ones. This cover is beautiful, thank you. As someone whose just starting out trying to learn piano can you give me some advice on what my main hurdles will probably be to learn to get this good? I would agree, to me this seems more sad about the situation than Kate Bush, and certainly more than Meg meyers who seems frustrated. It’s kinda like “I can’t make you love me” where Bonnie Raitt seems to be disappointed in the other person where George Michael seems disappointed in himself. I love when artists are able to take the exact same material but add a whole new emotion that wasn’t there before. The playing and arrangement are spectacular btw. Well done.

Lyrics can take away from enjoyment of songs for me. I cringe at them too often. Music is a Universal language on this planet. I hesitate to use "the". We don't know what we don't know. Beautiful piece, this is. We don't always need words to communicate, though there are times only words can say what needs to be said.

I still remember a dark night, nearly 40 years ago, I opened the windows to feel a strong wind that was blowing through after a summer storm. I pressed play on my cassette deck and Kate's thundering percussion started and I listened to this song, feeling the wind and relishing the dark. I've learned to play this up until 3:15 and so far I'm loving it so much! Been playing piano for 14 years, self taught. I've had active and inactive periods in my piano playing, and it's been mostly inactive since I became a father (almost 8 years ago). Hearing this piece has re-sparked my passion for this instrument higher than its ever been, and playing it has reminded me why I learned to play piano in the first place. I've practised this piece quite heavily for the past 3 days, and the sensation I get when playing it is so powerful! And my eldest son, hearing me play it, asked me if I could teach him piano as well. I've been trying to get him interested in piano for years with no luck, so I'm thrilled he's finally showing an interest! Thank you so much for this video! Can't wait to learn the rest!

I've played piano for over 20 years, since I was in high school. But when I listen to anyone else play I always hate it. Even if they played flawlessly they didn't play louder when required, or softer when my emotions told me they should. Beautiful rendition of the song. I would tell any aspiring musician, you must learn piano. Any song can be played on the piano and when you hear it, no lyrics or vocals or effects, that’s when you hear the pure music behind it. This is a perfect example.
I’m 50…I was 12 when this song came out and I remember it clearly …hearing it on the radio on the way home from my grandmothers house…my dad turned it up and my step mom turned it up a little more…it was such a catchy song and still holds up to this day…brings back great memories

I used Skillshare. You could probably play a simpllified version of this within a few weeks. You also need a piano obvs, a decent one is at least £300/$400
if you really want it to sound amazing make sure you gut a real piano not electric,, ofc electric is still good and its cheaper but nothing will ever compare to the sounds of a real piano
@@starr1330 They're not great for beginners. They cost thousands. Sure they look and sound excellent but if you're not sure if piano is something you want to consistently dedicate time to then go for a digital one. You can always upgrade later

One of my favorite things about your piano covers is your dynamic control. You play with what I'd call a controlled aggression. There are moments which are powerful yet sensitive or loud yet delicate (like 2:04 - 2:24 and 2:42 - 3:15), where the buildup is so gradual and so good. Those moments really do music like this justice. Congrats on 500k views at the time of me writing this btw, couldn't be happier for your success.
The voicing is so great too. Putting emphasis just on the melody, in the middle of big chords and arpeggios. Something I'm trying to pay more attention to in my own playing. And a lot of times it's the weak little pinky that ends up having to push harder to bring out that melody!

I've played piano for over 20 years, since I was in high school. But when I listen to anyone else play I always hate it. Even if they played flawlessly they didn't play louder when required, or softer when my emotions told me they should. But you. . .You have all the technical abilities of anyone I've ever seen, plus the dynamic prowess of a true artist and musician. Thank you. Please keep playing for us. I'll be listening.

Beautiful rendition of the song. I would tell any aspiring musician, you must learn piano. Any song can be played on the piano and when you hear it, no lyrics or vocals or effects, that’s when you hear the pure music behind it. This is a perfect example.
One further comment - that bit between 4:20 and 4:30 is just so pretty. You are a genius.

I’m 50…I was 12 when this song came out and I remember it clearly …hearing it on the radio on the way home from my grandmothers house…my dad turned it up and my step mom turned it up a little more…it was such a catchy song and still holds up to this day…brings back great memories

I used Skillshare. You could probably play a simpllified version of this within a few weeks. You also need a piano obvs, a decent one is at least £300/$400
if you really want it to sound amazing make sure you gut a real piano not electric,, ofc electric is still good and its cheaper but nothing will ever compare to the sounds of a real piano
@@starr1330 They're not great for beginners. They cost thousands. Sure they look and sound excellent but if you're not sure if piano is something you want to consistently dedicate time to then go for a digital one. You can always upgrade later

One of my favorite things about your piano covers is your dynamic control. You play with what I'd call a controlled aggression. There are moments which are powerful yet sensitive or loud yet delicate (like 2:04 - 2:24 and 2:42 - 3:15), where the buildup is so gradual and so good. Those moments really do music like this justice.

The voicing is so great too. Putting emphasis just on the melody, in the middle of big chords and arpeggios. Something I'm trying to pay more attention to in my own playing. And a lot of times it's the weak little pinky that ends up having to push harder to bring out that melody!
