    I really hope Google keeps up the competitive pricing through the years. Smartphones have gotten far too expensive from every major manufacturer to just drive profits more and more without much benefit for consumers.

    The Pixel 6 display is "decent"? It's incredible! As for the 90hz "slow' refresh rate, the refresh rate is fast and buttery smooth!! As for the battery, I'm a moderate to moderately heavy user and after my phone charges at 100% around 6am, it most always registers around 40-50% by 6:00-7:00pm! And, aside from the lack of the telephoto lens which personally I'd never use and do not miss, the cameras are top notch in every way! Point is, the Pixel 6 is an incredible phone and is by far a better value and choice than the Pixel 6 Pro, which is over $300.00 more expensive! Anyone who feels the need to pay that extra cost for a few features which are not that vital (including the slightly larger and curved display which neither do I personally prefer), then go for it - it's your money!

    • @Deathbatman
      @Deathbatman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      90 hz feels much lower after experienceing 120 hz. There is no reason the pixel 6 shouldn't have it other than battery. A cheap 200 to 250 phone has it. My 470 dollar phone even has it. At it's price 120 hz should be here but seems to be put as a incentive to get the pro model

    the phone is really good. theres 2 complaints i have with it though. 1. the camera settings are lacking, you cant make a square photo... might not sound like anything too major but several ecommerce platforms function best with square photos, also theres no voice command to take a photo you can say "ok google, take a photo" but thats why less convenient and doesnt work nearly as well as samsungs "cheese", finally this is the biggest complaint i have... 2. THIS THING IS SLIPPERY AS HELL! it will slide out of anything and the back part raises it up a touch so even on flat surfaces it is at risk of sliding. it will slide out of any pocket, off any surface, out of your hand, out of your holder, off the charger... this thing defies physics is so freaking slippery.... so DEFINITELY opt for as much friction as humanly possible on whatever case you plan on putting on this thing.

    Cool phone and interesting chipset. I have liked all the designs of Pixel phones, this one being the best yet, but I must say I don't like how the camera glass is prone to scratches, but I like the choice of fingerprint sensor technology if it's more reliable, because I much rather take the reliability than speed in this case.
    Google knows what they are doing with their design, since even the software with it's very rounded shapes creates a relaxed appeal. I think the soft shapes have a psychological purpose to counter stressful lifestyle, even though aesthetics do not affect that much daily life and certainly won't help with bad stress issues. I personally would still take those sharp corners like in Windows Phone since I'm very tech oriented person and somehow those rectangles just give me "the tech vibe".
    Android 12 is cool to have too, but today, fortunately, Android version doesn't matter that much, since the days of Android being clunky or having issues are well behind. This is a good thing if you ask me, because you don't have to think that much if your phone has or will get the latest version - your phone will work just fine in any case. Still, I like to get those updates, but being dependent on them to have significantly better user experience was not that great thing.
    I'm interested to see how Pixel phones will develop in time, even though I'm not a potential customer simply due to price and not good enough battery life. Also I try to avoid using apps made by Google.

    In my opinion the 6 and 6 Pro are pretty much a reboot of Google Pixel phones. Simply because they are the first true flagships made by Google particularly the 6 Pro. Both like iPhone have their own exclusive chip called Tensor and they look more sexier compared to the previous Pixel phones.
    Pixel phones despite being the 'Android iPhone' have always been underrated with Samsung and even Xiaomi grabbing all the spotlight and attention. People just don't seem to realise that like iPhone Pixels get the latest updates and patches for several years which third party Android phones are bad at except Samsung nowadays to an extent. And Pixel phones not only boast surpeb cameras but also no bloatware which you cannot beat.
    I think Google realised the chief reason they were struggling is because they never made high end phones like the iPhone and Galaxy Note and S series. And while Pixels are still not as popular as Samsung and iPhone it is going in the right direction.
    I think if they make a Pixel that be used with a smartpen then that could attract more customers and there is rumours Google is finally releasing a Google Watch next year 👀 so hopefully it is only a matter of time before Google becomes just as big as Samsung and Apple.

    Great review!! But before buying this camera beast keep in mind these issues from pixel users (pixel 6 user here) :
    1) The peak power that Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro draw from the wired charger is 21W and 23W, respectively. As the battery gets closer to full, charging power is gradually reduced in order to improve battery longevity. - Google (30w myth)
    2) Green tint issue at low brightness (hardware issue ask for replacement)
    3) Slow fingerprint sensor (they promise fix by update)
    4) Fingerprint sensor failure after battery dies (fix only by factory reset-pixel 6)
    5) Randomly ghost-dialing contacts (fix by downloading the latest version of the Google app, 12.43.18 or newer)
    6) Carrier network is temporarily unavailable (pixel 6)

    • @johnosullivan6439
      @johnosullivan6439 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He didn't say the speakers were 'better than the iPhone 13', he said they were 'comparable to the iPhone 13' (i.e. similar to), and that both phones have good speakers. In GSMArena's online review, they state that there is very little difference in the sound quality between the 2 phones - the iPhone's may be slightly louder.
      I agree with you re the bass on the Pixel 6 - the vocals are clearer and crisper than on my Pixel 3a XL (which has excellent speakers) but I think that the speakers could benefit with having slightly more bass on the 6 if playing music above c. 90% volume. I'd like to think Google could tweak them just slightly in a future update - then they would be perfect.

      I would say upgrade to a cheap phone temporarily that has Android 12, as you will also be up to date security updates wise. Looking at Pixel 6 and 6 Pro battery life reviews, I don't think it is worth it. I have Pixel 3 and it is still fantastic. The difference in photos taken with Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 3 for a basic user like is minimal. Pixel 3 already got android 12, so planning to use it till android 13 release, after that will upgrade of course. I cancelled my pixel 6 pro order few days ago mainly because of its huge size and battery life reviews.

      Just upgraded my 2 and made the jump to the 6. It does indeed feel more heavy/solid and is much larger than the 2. My battery life and charging capabilities on my pixel 2 actually gave out and were the reason for my upgrade. Compared to the issues I had with the pixel 2's battery life, it's a dream and honestly quite good. UX feels exactly like my 2 but seems much faster.
