Didn't really kill us. However it was such a stupid stupid thing that every Oilers fan knew was stupid. So how did Chia not?
Starry G that genuinely stung. Hearing him give up TWO picks as high as 16 and 33, in a draft year that’s this deep, he just threw away so much in one decision. And he threw it away for, absolutely nothing. With all the scouting and everything, knowing the kind of talent in this draft, how could anyone be that stupid. I never actually watched that part live, but it genuinely makes me sick to hear him say that he’s giving those away. We could have had arguably the best draft in history. We already had the lead of getting the best player in the world, to think we could of added TWO other top line players, this team would ha e rebuilt in that season. And from 2016/17 on, been a playoff team every year.
@JS They got a sniff at it last year brother. They just ran into a super team that was destined to win the Cup. I'd argue the Oilers were the 4th best team in the playoffs last year.

Yup. TBH I think the pressure helped him to become the player he is today. All of the interviews, all of the news articles and videos about him. I'm sure it gave him even more determination to be the best.

Thank you so much for uploading. I went to the Draft but was looking forward to watching the broadcast when I got back. I was dismayed to find that my DVR had malfunctioned and recorded four hours of nothing.
"The best thing is, he doesn't have to do all the heavy lifting right away!" man... how wrong that statement turned out to be... 2019 here we are and McDavid has been doing A LOT of heavy lifting and is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED

Thank god the Bruins whiffed so bad on their 3 consecutive picks. They'd be an absolute POWERHOUSE had they landed even one of Barzal, Connor or Chabot.
This coverage by NBCSN using the TSN guys(including Maguire) was a lot better than the coverage we got with Rogers/Sportsnet in Canada. Rogers didn't have coverage of Day 2 of the draft. It was good to hear Bob McKenzie doing a draft analysis.

Taking a look at the McDavid-Eichel rivalry 7 years later.
McDavid- has proved to be one of the best players in the game & may even go down as the best player of all time.
Eichel- has done nothing but hurt his teams. Notice how Buffalo is doing better all of a sudden & now Vegas has started to struggle since the trade? Eichel is a locker room virus.

I love looking back on drafts and see who screwed the pooch. The Nucks at 23 getting Brock was fricken awesome. How he was passed up by 22 teams blows me away. Miko at 10 was awesome as well. Strome Hanifin were bad picks considering Prov,Werenski and Barzel were and Brock have turned into studs.

9. Meier - Top 6 winger with a deadly goal scoring touch.
10. Rantanen - Bust.
11. Crouse - Big 2nd line power forward dangerous in front of the net. Like a bigger Tomas Holmstrom.

Could potentially be on the same line with Dylan Larkin and Anthony Mantha and form a possible franchise line once all 3 of them crack the Detroit Red Wings line up and live up to their potential
Svechnikov gives off elite vibes, but that doesn't surprise me since no one drafts better than The Wings.
As a Leafs Fan I really feel like they traded 24th overall because Svechnikov & Eriksson Ek were gone.
I had Connor at 10th overall, that's how much i liked him.

I half expected Edmonton to take Eichel, as Charelli seemed to gravitate toward getting heavier and bigger. That would have been pretty scandalous.

I'm going to be honest, Crouse was very overrated this year. I know that he has improved a lot, but there were players going in the third round who have a higher ceiling than Crouse. Offensively I don't see him being much, maybe a third or fourth liner (which isn't bad, but compare that to Barzal who could be a first or second line scorer).
