I started my KDP journey recently with a coloring book for girls and lined notebooks :) So far sold 8 notebooks and 5 coloring books. Working on a new original art (by me) coloring book right now. :) Good luck everyone!

So, who actually publishes the book? When someone orders it, where is it printed? And who mails it to the buyer?
@@Ephesians5-14 Amazon does the printing and shipping.( You would just need to make the digital files of the interior and cover of the book yourself and upload it.)

She is also the second person to show exactly how you design and upload your low content book. She gives the same steps as another person on TH-cam. She's giving all the correct info. You just have to try it out.❤

Hello, Questions. I know that the end-user will be filling in the book BUT who prints this out? Is this a physical item you're creating? Will I need a printer and binding and such?

I had NO idea this kind of thing was possible - I’d love to design notebooks etc but always thought I’d have to pay for printing and binding and order 1000s of copies - this is crazy!! Thank you for sharing!
in normal business thats exactly what you are doing. keep i mind, that you are basically just working for amazon. they print the cheap books, collect the money for you. all you do is upload the file. so you are essentially working for amazon and not yourself. this is not a business, but a part time job working for amazon.
if you want to be a serious book, journal publisher, then you do as you were led to believe...you have to as a business pay all the upfront cost in printing, then sell your product to make your money.
again, doing this on amazon is just you working part time for amazon.

Is this a paid version of book bolt?
The thing I dont get is, do you just make the cover and what is on the inside and then amazon makes however many physical copies for you if someone orders it? Or is it more like when youtubers create merch like t-shirts, they have someone design what it looks like and have to pay for the 50 shirts and hope that people will buy them?

@@Diana72910 Interesting, I'm suprised people would be making videos about this. Not counting those ads that pop up where for a fee the person will tell you their "secret". Since now there will probably be even more people trying this out even if it just earns them a 100 dollars a month that is still 100 dollars more than they would have had with a minimal amount of effort. Unless what they hope is to build a youtube channel that can make them even more money by getting sponsors.

Just wanted you to know, I freaked out when I saw this video, and showed my husband, who also freaked out. He'd already used Canva for other work projects, and our daughter is an artist studying digital design, so making the annual purchase was a no-brainer. But we also immediately purchased an annual membership of Book Bolt and started creating books to list via KDP. In the last week we've put together over 20 books using your advice and are eagerly waiting for them to go live on Amazon. A great idea and a great tutorial, much appreciated! However, I would like to point out at 13:00 : It's a password book, then the first page contains all personal information, 'in case they lose it'. So, in case they lose it, the one who finds it will have access to all personal details and all passwords...it will be a conman's wet dream..

Cool vid, but people should really use a program like LastPass for their passwords. I like the cover design and title tho.
As a creator thats not their problem. They focus on selling it. A thief will figure out how to steal or con either way, so its not point of living in fear. The book's owner is responsible for whomever they allow to get into their stuff. I understand what you're saying on an empathic level but thats just an excuse or minor obstacle not to create it. And ultimalely, thats a fear that can stop the creator from making money. Just giving you a different perspective. NOW, if this was a different type of set up where one could actually add to the physical book, I would suggest adding a lock and key to it and the key would be detached so the owner could place it wherever the choose. Therefore, making the process slighltly more difficult for the idiot that wants to snoop.

I was fortunate to be able to retain my job during the pandemic, though less hours, but I’ve thankfully been able to start freelancing & even started a TH-cam channel on online money & personal finance and it’s GROWING! Thanks for the great content and remember bois NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR GOAL!
We've been doing low content books for YEARS (so this is a little late to the game), but there's still money to be made here -- just not so much in blank notebooks and sketchbooks. It is so extremely saturated, especially with people just doing as you suggest - making a lined interior and then selling it as 50 different notebook sizes/colors (which, by the way - Amazon now frowns upon). The only way you are going to make ANY money using notebooks or sketchbooks now is to do some serious keyword/niche research, niche down and make damn good covers (but doubtful you'll make the hundreds, let alone thousands suggested in this video - unless you publish thousands, as some have, of notebooks). You best bet is to do other low content books instead of the blank notebooks (that's where the money is still there to be had, imo).

Thanks for saying this! I have published over 60 in the last year ( which I know is no where near a lot) and I take time to make damn good covers and guided prompts. I have made decent sales but its when I research keywords and such.
I appreciate the advise to dig down & create niche content..no brainer. My concern is what is the quality of the product produced by BookBolt? Is it crappy low quality paper or nice quality? Are there other low-content interfaces you could recommend?
@@KRoseB Book bolt doesn't produce the finished printed product. It produces a digital file that you upload to amazon and they print the products on demand, as they are sold. I have ten up so far and have ordered a copy of each to check the quality. The binding, and the paper and the print are EXCELLENT quality. So don't be worried about that.

I can't believe I watched this over a year ago, told others about it, and just tried it myself. I tried to create at least one book and publish while in the 3 day Book Bolt trial period. Could not get that Manuscript and Cover off my laptop to be uploaded after several attempts. Meanwhile, the folks at Book Bolt sent a reminder that my Trial Period was just about up and would start to be charged. That's what brought me back to your video. I was working on regular content books when I ran across your channel maybe a year ago. I needed some successes to celebrate along the journey and found low content journals were perfect. Could you do a video explaining a little bit more in depth on how you format your pages on canva to create these interior and exterior pages?? (Ex: do you preselect a page type or create your own, how do you make sure it’s the correct format, ect.)

Because she skips and goes directly to canva and finishes the book so I’m not sure if she’s telling us we need to do the same or if she missed something? @@lyriq04 You have to save the interior pages as a PDF, then upload it on KDP as a separate file under the manuscript upload option

I wanted to wait to get my author copy (they cost like $2) so that I could post the actual book. once I saw it, I realized I'd like to adjust some if the details. but it's a beautiful notebook still- I love it. just have to advertise and make some sales!
@@VersastyleV25 i think I did mine a weird way- like I think I downloaded the lined papers from book bolt and then I uploaded the cover (from canva) and the filler pages to my kdp platform as separate files. this was a while ago, so if you still can't figure it out, let me know and I will actually look at it.

I remember the printing company my grandma worked for in the early 2000s made books like this and I helped by hand delivering them to schools and daycares so I know the demand will always be there.

I made my first notebook for sale on Amazon today thanks to Kat. It took about 2.5 hours after setting up all the accounts and playing around with designs. It was actually pleasurable. I'm going to buy it for myself to check out the quality when it goes online. The trickiest part is pricing it!

There are far more complex websites/programs that are free (ex: autodesk mobile, unity, blender) and they work on donations, ads, sponsors

I think you should be honest and tell your viewers that it is not that easy to sell the books on amazon without advertising. You have to pay min $2-$3 per day to show up. You can actually loose money
Yep I've noticed many side hustle videos are misleading
I wondered about this myself. I used to sell books on amazon. Ones I wrote. But Amazon made some change several months ago and now your books don't show up unless you pay to advertise. I did used to get a little bit of book sales the way Amazon used to do things (without advertisting) but now my books don't sell anymore after the change. I hadn't been putting books up there long enough (before they made the change) to where I made enough to where I felt I really could afford to pay to advertise. So I don't think this idea presented here is going to just magically work. Not they way it once might have. Plus, is this talking about books to print rather than an ebook (does anyone really want a digital notebook) because if they have to print it out (The customer orders it printed) and the going print is only $4.99, then there isn't going to be much for the seller anyway. I think a lot of the ideas I've seen on this channel aren't really going to work well for most people. I do keep coming back to check out her content now and then but a lot of what I've seen isn't going to work easily for most people.
AS someone with a successful TH-cam channel, I think it's key to have a PLATFORM and an audience other wise why wuld anyone buy your's esp since they are kind of generic (meaning they are giving the same interior templates to everyone.) So say you teach on money or Faith for women, then your book fits your niche and your audience might get it- but not all. Only a small percentage buy what a creator offers. So she should be clearer on how hard it is to SELL.

You make this perfect looking book upload it on Amazon or Kindle and watch the sales coming..
We know you need to market or advertise that book for it to be seen because there are millions of books on Kindle or Amazon.
To be fair, I think most of the people on TH-cam watching these videos pretty much know and understand that advertising comes with the territory. I think this was focused on how to make the book and not how to advertise it. That would be a whole different video. Advertising is too complex and I believe it's best leaving that up to the TH-camrs who knows advertising.
Took me more than an hour, you kinda skipped over how to format the cover to be side by side, but I figured it out finally and have officially put up my first content, its under review now!
