J'avais 8 ans et demi. Et je me souviens de cet instant inoubliable. Nous avions une camarade Maria, qui avait sur les 12 ans, qui nous chantait cette chanson dans le quartier. Que de bons souvenirs. Merci à Marie Myriam
tasosk3 is right; "L'Oiseau et l'Enfant" was a deserving winner; a really classy song (although some years later Marie was, I think, quoted as saying she got fed up with singing it all the time after she won!) Apparently the reason Marie was late coming on stage for the reprise was because the BBC cameraman filming her triumphant progress from the 'green room' fell over (he was of course walking backwards to film her) and she tried to administer first aid!
Another balls up with Presentation. Someone not keeping up with the scores. Not Good for The UK. Being on show. With a TV. News reader. But still can't count !!! Well done to France.
Info: Marie's birth name was Miriam Lopes and she was born in Portugal. Indeed, I too hope France will get to bridge what is already more than a 30-year gap between winning moments like these. Btw; the UK actually stood at 121 points at the end of the voting, which makes it fortunate that France had such a lead; otherwise there would have been some major confusion. Most recently Marie appeared at the Congratulations special and wrote the French intro to the official ESC history book.
UK should have defended the title! I put this 3rd, after UK and Ireland. No matter how undeserving the winner is, I will still place it in top 5 as a sign of respect.
Greece did not want to win the Eurovision 1977 because the Greek public broadcaster ERT said that Greece was reluctant to host the Eurovision as it did not have a stadium to host the contest.

Quelle belle époque à jamais révolue....
the most beautiful eurovision song ever. Para mi es la canción más bonita de cuantas han ganado eurovision.
Exellent j avais 10 ans a cette époque, et c est bien dommage que radio nostalgie oublie de diffuser cette magnifique chanson
One of the best eurovision song winners by far. I watched the final, l was 15, but l remembered it like it was yesterday.

Totally DISAGREE with you. This is the best Eurovision song ever. Even better than Johnny Logan's 'What's another year?' which is nearly perfect.
You must be lunatics! The best song by far was mathema solfege by Greece!
Ya.
Greece was a good song but France was a deserved winner.
