When it was 105• this summer, I took my whole vacuum apart, except the motor. Every screw was removed and accounted for, and every part was disassembled. I scrubbed the whole thing with laundry detergent and rinced it with a pressure nozzel attached to the garden hose, including the black filter. I left her out in the hot sun to dry. I tell you she shined like a new penny. A new belt, and she was a happy girl.
Dang, I have been running my Bissell for 3 years now with just minimal belt changes and filter rinses. I mean sure it's no fancy name vacuum but it has been a reliable little vacuum for us.
Brother , thanks so much for this video. It really helped me to successfully disassemble my bissell and clean the lower hose that was seriously clogged. It works perfectly now. Much love !
You blew my mind when you hooked up both ends of the belt THEN put the roller back in place. I'm putting together a different Bissell, the pet hair eraser turbo, and could not for the life of me get the belt back on and this was the correct method for that. You mention using laundry detergent for cleaning the internal components. Is there a reason why dish soap wouldn't work? Thank you so much!
Dish soap will require more effort and leaves quite a bit of residue on plastic parts. Particularly when you want to wash the filters it makes a difference.
Mr Bissell invented the carpet sweeper and I always thought that carpet sweepers were the only thing that I’d ever buy from them until I bought my Lil Green Machine. I like it so much and have heard so many good things about their carpet cleaning machines that I might buy one if my Hoover ever needs to be replaced.
How do you get the adjustment mechanism /plate back in place ? I'm talking about the actual adjustment underneath the tab that is supposed to interact with the knob there not close enough to work together?
Mines still has good suction, but the rotating brushes rollers stop rotating if the vacuum isnt moving. I have the height set at its highest and i have low/medium height carpet. Can you point me to the right direction to repair?
Theres a metal clip with an A on it that came out of i think the roller assembly. I cant figure out where it goes. Height adjustment does not work now. Any advice on where the clip goes?
I did everything but still my two of the belt broke after burning smell, despite of changing the roller, any specific steps to save the belt and run smoothly? Appreciate your help!
I think Bissell Intentionally puts on six screws on the base plate, because it Discourages the Non-Technical people changing the belt and brush roll themselves, so at least for the cheaper models like the power force they are More likely to just buy another vacuum rather than bother to fix the old one.
That maybe why I have trash picked so many Bissell power force helixes since 2014. But I have been able to clean up and do minor repairs on all or almost all of them.
What’s wrong with bissell? I just bought one it works fine. I live in a house with no carpet I just want it for a rug in the living room and to clean furniture.
"Glorified rubber band." I like that term. They probably use a non re-enforced belt because the drive train can't take the overload of a jammed system. Or it lacks a circuit breaker.
I have the same vacuum and there is a green or red on top showing red no suction power when the hose is connected ? The hose is not clogged what should I do??
I just trash picked A Bissell Cleanview swivel pet model 2252. It has six regular length screws for the bottom floor plate, two shorter screws that hold the two cyclone parts together inside the dirt bin, one regular length screw that holds the upper end of the footer hose, And two regular length screws that I cannot account for. Where do those go?
@@PerformanceReviews Because a number of Amazon reviews listed model 2252 as a fire hazard because of the poor design of the belt area, I cut the cord and donated it to my local Goodwill as e-waste.
We got ours at Sam's Club for a good price. But it's stopped cleaning anything. Been like this for over 2 years now. My pops and I just cleaned the whole thing out. We found that the belt was burnt in half
@@PerformanceReviews I followed your instructions how to check the belt. Belt looks good. Clean the debris then put it back. A little bad smell from the motor. I think I should take it to repair store for diagnostic since only 3wks old
Bagless vacuums require super high maintenance and a nightmare to deal with and isn't very cost effective. no wonder I see them on the streets that are less then 5 years old because people just don't want to deal with maintenance then they will just buy a new one. Bagged is the way to go and one that isn't from a big box store like Walmart.
I have a really quick question, why laundry detergent and not dish soap.and you know what I even started doing I actually went out and bought a really high-end Shop-Vac and I put my old central vacuum hose on it with the power nozzle and I just been using that to vacuum the carpet cuz since it has a large dust bag so it's fantastic I love it. And the airflow.
Laundry detergent happens to be a superior degreaser not having to be food-safe. Also laundry detergent viscosity is a lighter weight which means it doesn't hang around filters and leave a residue
@@PerformanceReviews well thank you that is very helpful information greatly appreciate it I will use that next week as a matter of fact because I plan on taking my vacuums apart and give him a good thorough cleaning no pun intended
Well you must be new . Generally I do repair older units like this video. th-cam.com/video/QXxFW1MYdkA/w-d-xo.html With Bissell they're usually not worth repairing and they don't usually last long enough to see it to my shop . So in this case the easiest way to get the video out was to do a video on a machine that was in for review. It's only a handful of machines I've ever done like this.
"How To Restore Suction & belt Change" Step 1: Don't. Real talk, I've picked up much nicer machines than this one in the garbage. When the average consumer will still willingly purchase this kind of crap, the market is pretty much screwed unless you're a vacuum enthusiast or are otherwise savvy.
Best way to repair a Bissell... save your $ and buy a Sebo

TIL I’m the type of person who doesn’t like changing out a vacuum belt

Much love !
I almost bought a new vacuum....... I saved putting my Bissell in the landfill and doling out money for a new vacuum! It was a win-win!! Thank you
Thanks for watching glad the video was useful. When it is time consider buying a machine that's not disposable check out our recommended vacuum list.
Nah, the belt isn’t even a ‘glorified’ rubber band. Looks like the one that comes wrapped around the asparagus at the grocery store 😂
you helped me figure out how to change the belt and troubleshoot my BISSELL
me too!!

Love the ending
Very helpful! Great presentation!
how start vaccum .?
Mines still has good suction, but the rotating brushes rollers stop rotating if the vacuum isnt moving. I have the height set at its highest and i have low/medium height carpet. Can you point me to the right direction to repair?
Thank you. The thing sucked up a sock! All fixed!!!🎉🎉
The part that goes inside the clear cannister (green&clear) accidently was thrown away. Can I get a replacement?
Thank you! Helped me fix my Bissell in 15 minutes and was about to throw away.
Glad to hear.
Theres a metal clip with an A on it that came out of i think the roller assembly. I cant figure out where it goes. Height adjustment does not work now. Any advice on where the clip goes?
Thank you so very much for this video. It helped me out a lot I was going to just get rid of my vacuum cleaner.
This was SO helpful! Thank you!
A metal piece fell off of my 2258 while I was replacing the belt. The belt had snapped. However, I can't see where the piece goes.
Brilliant Video and very very helpful.
I did everything but still my two of the belt broke after burning smell, despite of changing the roller, any specific steps to save the belt and run smoothly?

Probably need a new roller. Bring to your local vacuum store and see what they say. Worst case you buy a better machine from them.
Any thoughts on eureka power speed bayless any good
I think Bissell Intentionally puts on six screws on the base plate, because it Discourages the Non-Technical people changing the belt and brush roll themselves, so at least for the cheaper models like the power force they are More likely to just buy another vacuum rather than bother to fix the old one.
It takes less than 5 minutes to change the belt on this vacuum, even with 6 screws.
That maybe why I have trash picked so many Bissell power force helixes since 2014. But I have been able to clean up and do minor repairs on all or almost all of them.
Then theres me that picked this bissell vacuum without a power cord, opened it all up & connected a new power cord to it
I know it has a clog in the hose attachment. Works fine on the floor setting but almost no suction and super crazy loud when on the hose.
What’s wrong with bissell? I just bought one it works fine. I live in a house with no carpet I just want it for a rug in the living room and to clean furniture.
It really doesn't work "fine" more details in my full review.

Thank you for this experience 💫🏆
I have the same one but the brush stopped spinning help please
The answer is in this video if the explanation is not clear, maybe bring it to your local vacuum repair shop.
You need to replace your belt
How do I fix My Adjustment knob coming off?
"Glorified rubber band." I like that term. They probably use a non re-enforced belt because the drive train can't take the overload of a jammed system. Or it lacks a circuit breaker.
I have the same vacuum and there is a green or red on top showing red no suction power when the hose is connected ? The hose is not clogged what should I do??
Follow the instructions on the video and change your filters
I was wondering if there is a trigger mechanism that stops the roller from spinning when you're using the hose for suction.
Awesome!!!! Thank you so much!
How I replace the cord I have the piece from online but idk how to unscrew it
And recommend you bring it to your local shop it requires complete disassembly.

How would you fix the red foot power button ? Mine just fell off
If it's under warranty call Bissell.
They should take care of it at no cost.
If it's out of warranty then it's time to put it in it's proper bin 🚮
Can u do a fan replace on a kirby g4
I don't know why but when I purchased this yesterday, the Pet TurboEraser Tool don't spin when connect??
It's normal see my Review in it .
th-cam.com/video/Bg23i_utQvo/w-d-xo.html
The only bissell I love is the big green carpet cleaner
I need a cord replacement video on my 2252e, I tire it down, replaves the cord, put it back together and now have an extra piece haha
If my cord has dogbites on it, but only on the outer covering, with no damage to the two inner wires, I just wrap electrical tape around them.
We got ours at Sam's Club for a good price. But it's stopped cleaning anything. Been like this for over 2 years now. My pops and I just cleaned the whole thing out. We found that the belt was burnt in half
That will do it. Should have smelled burnt rubber when it happened.
@@enigmagrl23 my mom was very uppity with it. I told her it's not cleaning anything. She'd tell me shut up. I'm like ok then.
What if the vacuum doesn't sounds like that? I have the same vacuum like that, it sounds like motorcycle. Is it the motor? I purchased it 3wks ago
I would return it it's also possible you have broken the belt
@@PerformanceReviews I followed your instructions how to check the belt. Belt looks good. Clean the debris then put it back. A little bad smell from the motor. I think I should take it to repair store for diagnostic since only 3wks old
Is the 2259 the newer version of the 2252?
No they have slightly different colors depending on which retailer is selling it. That seems to be the only difference between the model numbers.
My powerforce helix turbo rewind has that certified dying motor
🤣

I'd rather spend $100 every 5 or so years than $500+ at one time. My family is the type that will void out a warranty. Lol.
dude. thinking the exact same thing. bagless vacuums are SO overrated. BORING!
My pre-filter fills every time instead of dirt staying down in the capsule. Why?
Good stuff however I still got a issue :(
What about that little door on the bottom
When I use the hose the roller suction is still working.

Need help my vacuum suction is good it’s just loud
If it's under warranty bring it to your Bissell authorized warranty center.
Thanks!!
my lower-end bagless vacuums, I just check every month or two. They hardly ever need cleaning in my house because I vacuum so much.
Why are they always "repairing" a brand new unit?
Well you must be new . Generally I do repair older units like this video.

Something's not right. Bring it to your local vacuum store and see what they say.
Nobody around where I live.I think I will buy a different vacuum.thanks
I agree that these newer bissells should be trashed they should bring back the older style version
Facts
awww poor bissell! I like mine, knowing that I'll only get a year or two out of it.
The suction is low. Blowing wind back
literally just got one. Not 20 minutes in and this stupid part melted. Tried to remold it and fix it. Such bull
But only Closet 10:30
Se apagó y no quiere prender de nuevo
He didn't link the brush roller replacement part. Could really use that.
I'm deeply sorry about that.
I've updated the description. Thanks for bringing that to my attention!
where is it updated fir the roller noise
just realised im missing parts lol
It is lake what the problem
English do you speak it?
@@PerformanceReviews Depends who's using the account. I speak English. My mom doesn't.
My Bissell vacuum does not come apart that easy, Crazy
Make sure the cup is attached and locked in place, properly. You don't cover that.
Hey performance reviews I heard Royal vacuums we're going out of business
Kind of old news there. The Chinese decided that years ago.
They’ve just recently taken their website down.
Gone, Gone, Gone.

Average consumer here. I vacuum daily and other than maintenance, I don't have any issues with this vacuum. 8 people, 3 dogs, 2 cats.
