Having the same problem in our trooper, however we just disconnected power cables evntouly got 4x4, still it eventually jumps out of 4x4 if you go from lo to hi.. so we will try this trick. Glad to find this video! Thanks:)
Make shure to turn the 4WD on also, and when you turn it off put the hose the way it was. I recommend giving maintenance to the VSV valve by dismounting them and adding a little bit of wd40, since they're located in a low place they tend to get humid that corrodes within time.
