  • Another classic 22 rifle from the 1930s. Many a youngster grew up learning to shoot this rifle. I remember seeing many of these as a kid in the 1960s as I drooled over the used gun racks of the local sporting goods stores. This is a great example of the period piece.

      I think they were so easy for kids to shoot because they have such a long sight radius and they are very lightweight.

      I have my dad's. $6 when he bought it new in the late 30's/early 40's. Peep and Globe sights. I don't think that is the original stock.

      @@whitneyranchproductions4637 sure do. Can't imagine what all they've seen in the past 80 years. Same with my Marlin 39a made in 1957. I've got a Ruger Security Six born the same month I was 40-some years ago. It has the right amount of holster wear and patina on the grip to suggest old police revolver. I bet it seen some interesting things on some cop's hip back in the day as well. Good firearms can serve several lifetimes.

    Have one, belonged to my grandfather. He used it on his trapline, taught my dad how to shoot with it and when I got old enough, my dad taught me with it. I taught my grandson how to shoot with it, it's a family tradition and heirloom now. Still works great and shoots strait.

    My dad's first rifle when he was about 12-13 (1933).... Taught me to shoot at age 10 when we lived in Alaska..... The old varnish was all wrinkled, so took her apart, stripped old varnish and have about 4-5 hand rubbed coats of linseed oil on the stock.... Beautiful old girl; will be passed down to my grandkids....

    I have one of these and yes it is slightly older than I am, I am 83, My wife folks had both died nd we were cleaning out their house that they had lived in for over 50 years and her brother came up from the basement with a rusty old beat up rifle, said "I don't know what we are going to do with this..." I just reached out took it and said" I know what to with it..." I took it home disassembles it, simple steel wooled all the rust and cleaned it up and re blued it, sanded all the wood smooth stained it and several coats of flat polyurathane and repainted the painted parts. looks like new and I have shot hundreds of rounds through it, accurate to, I mostly use CCI shotshell, their are good to about 40 feet on rabbits, and I was surprised to see it is a smooth bore , no rifling, its a great combo for shooting pigeons and doves in the barn and starlings, and a good training tool for the neighbors dogs crapping in my yard !!!

    I've got an old Wards Western Field Rifle Model 32a that I inherited, it was bought by my family when it was new back in the early to mid 1930s, and it's been passed down. It's crazy to think that I own a small piece of history, and she still shoots too, though I think the rifling is starting to go. Also have an old Marlin Model 100g, a bit newer but still good. I take em both out every range trip, just for old time sakes when I was given them as a kid.

    However mine has the optional marbles buckhorn sights. I have a vid posted of mine...very accurate guns!

    How do you mount a 3-9 42 telescope on this rifle

    • @whitneyranchproductions4637
      @whitneyranchproductions4637  ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally, I wouldn't....but any competent gunsmith would probably be able to drill and tap the receiver. You can find them online or thru most shooting/hunting websites.

      I hear you....those old soft firing pins can mushroom/shorten up leading to "failure-to-fire" issues.
