I think the lyric might be “Falling over the fear of looking into your eyes” I might be wrong but that’s what I could make out.

@@allthings.stranger Last year we figured out the lyrics for Clearly based on a really poor quality video, I think we can do it, there's not much missing. Some people have a really good hearing, I'm sure we'll figure this out. And yeah, it would be cool if she could perform it again, but that's unlikely.

Eclectic it is. This song is sort of "alt-uke" to me. I lump it in with moonlight and florets and find them all unique because they are built around similar syncopated chords probably worked out by Grace on her uke. But the sound is alt or indie, not folkish or old time like her AGT songs. Hope she continues in this direction.

It's actually pretty simple, this is my song to Grace. Her beauty, however, doesn't just mess with my eyes. For me, and many others I think, (and it doesn't matter what age she is, with Grace , age is irrelevant) she might be the most beautiful human on this planet.

Mairiam DeBron im 55 and i have never had an artist impacct me so completely. I listen a little or a lot every day since day one. I quit trying to explain or understand it. Im just trusting it and continue to be lifted, comforted and challenged in growing wayys with each song and appearance. Eva Cassidy is the only other angel that comes close

A few years older and Grace has captured me the same way the Beatles did, shame they didn't have yt in '66. I wake up every day with Grace on my mind. Something about Eva makes me think of Peggy Lee, not the voices, their vocal manner. I really can't think of any singer who stirs my inner soul like Grace. I can put her to a level of a particular song, if I said that right. "I'm Sorry" Brenda Lee and "I fall to pieces" Patsy Cline and I'm not a Country fan. The only song to me that even comes close to the emotion that Grace portrays is " Twilight Time" the Platters. Those 3 songs would be on my mothers song list that's how far you have to go back to something equivalent to her

I don't want to put too much pressure on little (baby) Grace, as she's entitled to be just a teen, a Girl finding her own way, building a life in the public eye.. In a recent interview she says Columbia has avoided a radio push because she is so young but...c'mon. This is a number one hit. She's fifteen, she can handle it.
It seems like Grace and her family are on board with the slow build. Probably so Grace can experience a mostly normal childhood and focus on school which Grace seems to love a lot.
Actually I was glad to hear she was being handled in such a considerate way, letting her discover herself and her musical direction. But sometimes I'll look at what reaches number one and think it's nowhere close to songs Grace has written.

No, but I guess Billie has a different management team and in retrospect, I'm glad they're doing all they can to let Grace develop without getting too famous too early. They know they have a genius who will eventually dominate the music world and are willing to be patient. It's just that she's written sooo many great songs I hate to see them not get the recognition they deserve.
Grace continues to grow musically and vocally and she is changing as she goes, which is awesome! Great to watch her grow up and grow musically. Love her.

I remember listening to it for the first time on her Livestream during the show and being like “OH MY GOD A MASTERPIECE!!!!” Almost 6 months later and here we are, it’s released, two music videos, a tour, and more music on the way. I love this girl so, so much.

Who are we kidding, there isn’t one bad song among all of the songs written and performed. I've now listened to her three new songs and it's as though she is channeling someone about ten years older; very jazzy/bluesy and very sophisticated and emotional. Grace never fails to amaze. I suspect she will continue to pretty much explore any genre she wants to over the next five years. She transcends the usual shallow "pop star". So glad I get to watch her journey.

First time I heard the bridge, I was really surprised by the lowest note in that descent ("overthink my lines"), and for a moment I felt a bit disorientated, wondering if they'd made a mistake but then realized it was intentional and that it really works.

How very few and far between are songwriters of this caliber. Even going back generations, there really are just a large fistful of names that are truly etched in stone. when it comes to having mastered the popular song -- including all the genre bending and 'alternative' overlaps (which include the most exceptional pop songs in modern history). At twelve years old - and really sooner -- she was already on a very clear path to joining a pantheon of artists who have become generational touchstones. Or at least for a large swath of society. The inscriptions on those, let's say, pre-90's touchstones, no longer reflect a world I grasp as well as I thought I used to.

Her experience to me is 7 years of singing really raspy for her mother and Olivia, thinking she may not have a very good voice I think she concentrated on the emotion of the words thus honing the skills we see today. Johnny Cash can write emotional songs but he could take as lesson from Grace on communicating emotion

The studio version is so summery but when I hear this, I get transported to the week she first sang it, cold, rainy, beautiful and quiet. The thaw of a long and cold winter here in Maryland(where I live). I don’t even know how it’s possible for a song to give you two totally different energies but here we are!!

Seeing Grace open for ID is like going to see the 4 Seasons concert and the Beatles are the opening act. This isn't directed at you John Z, just a funny thought I had. I watched a video of Adele in a packed Wembley stadium and the whole time I was imagining Grace there

@ John Z ... her profound lyrics, her speech melody, voice, singing and music, her stage presence, her statements and the involvement of the audience is unique .. and she likes to dance on the stage to her own brilliant choreography. You have to go back a long way in music history ... and in poetry ... to find similarities. I wrote already that Grace is an artist once in a blue moon.
Ralf Recknagel one of the most remarkable Grace moments for me is her singing on the steps in her backyard. She was probably only 12 or 13 at the time. Search for Grace Ex's & Oh's. Simply brilliant.

@@falconskye4565 The flurry of activity over the last 48 hours makes it seem Columbia and Team Grace are pretty serious in their efforts to increase awareness, and to essentially reintroduce her to the world. I feel fairly confident they'll get this one on the radio when they deem the time right.

Range of talent: while listening to her Billboard performance of Stray, was struck by how many more songs she could cover now, e.g. ones Liza Minelli sang/covered. So many others. An impossibly large catalog open to Grace.

Not gonna lie there's something so fresh and pure and wistful on this version, like a teenage crush, that's kind of lost on the recorded version. It's like the novelty of the feelings wore off by the time it was released into something a little more comfortable and relaxed and vibey. Different versions for different moods, but I think this one is purer.

How do you explain perfection, I've heard them all and this girl can be the best, wait what...
First she just turned 15 let that sink in, 2nd her voice is like no other in that I've yet to hear a song she can't sing and sing beautifully. I'm 55 I've heard Karen Carpenter and Grace can sing any Karen Carpenter type song and it's proven with her newest single "Hideaway". Hideaway is a song that isn't hard to sing but what it is is a testament to how a song can be made beautiful when someone with a beautiful voice sings it. I want to hear Grace sing a Karen Carpenter song or two, maybe a few from the Mama's and the Papa's and while your at it Grace throw in a song from Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell and Stevie Nicks.
For the people who can't understand Grace's lyrics that's a simple fix, get better equipment and play her songs loud and zone in on her voice that's where she shines. Get the best headphones and just listen to that voice it'll give you goosebumps. When you hear her voice loud on good equipment all of her vocal qualities stand out, it's like you're listening to a symphony of perfect sounds and pitch and that's where her lyrics and voice go together to create perfection. I've never analyzed any other singer in my life yet for some reason I had to find out why Grace mesmerized me the way she did. Why were so many blown away when she was on AGT at 12, what was it about her voice that had people hooked. She's come a long way since and she's growing into a performer that the greats will want to see live, I'm sure of it
Her live version of "River" show's you she can sing any R&B type song and she was 14? when she sang that live. Now throw in her live version "Darkness Keeps Chasing Me" and this girl is clearly refining her live performances right before our eye's. But what I really want to see is her most recent live performance from The Slipper Room the one where VEVO produced her live version of "Stray" because I'm sure they also have the whole concert in VEVO quality, so here's hoping VEVO will drop that out soon on TH-cam, can't wait.
I still can't believe Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel told Grace when she was only12 that she'd be bigger than pop star Taylor Swift but they did, and they were right. Grace's ability to sing with feeling might be her biggest attribute when you listen to a song like "It's a Beautiful Thing" a song that can bring a grown man to tears. Then you throw in a song like "Valerie" and this is her growth into singing with soul and again she's only 15, she's just getting started. Grace just needs to do the hardest thing and that's staying grounded and not get caught up with the 'life style' of a performer, that's where her strong family bond will play a huge roll in her teenage years.
Here's to a great new artist who I think will be the best of her generation and one of the best of all time, what a voice!
At this stage of her life, I think she is really enjoying the special status that goes along with still being a "kid" in the celebrity world. This can portend some rocky times ahead, though, as any child star can tell you. For example, natural changes will take place in your vocal abilities as you enter adulthood and they may not always be an asset.There is a purity to the sound of a young voice (ex. vienna boys choir) that is unmatched. I hope she can still sing "better life" with the vocal purity of a child ten years from now. But then again Grace is not singing opera or broadway, and the natural quirks in her voice should be an ever greater asset as she ages. Also, she has already proven to be so adaptable and able to handle such a wide range of material, something that has really surprised me, that she is bound to continually morph and reshape her style to suit both the material and her physical abilities. Much of what she sings does not require a classically trained voice anyway but it doesn't matter as long as she continues to write for HER voice. This is one reason why I love her music so much: she writes for HER voice.

That strip of music she sings starting at 1:57 feels genius. The way she gradually sings down the notes. And that flat one at 2:06 ('overthink my lies') IS SO COOL! to me. And she does it few more times in the song.
I agree. Loving this song and can't wait for it's release. I'm hearing "over think my lines" though. If this is a song about a guy, that would make sense. She's overthinking what to say to him.
