Yes! Omg, we are basically the same person. I’ve always wanted to be a PA since like my freshman year of high school. Really got into the idea of being able to switch between specialties, the stability, the job satisfaction ratings and ESPECIALLY the work life balance and patient interaction. But freshman year of undergrad I got peer pressured by some people I met and also my family into wanting to become an MD. I believe that God definitely has a way of telling you that you’re going in the wrong direction, completely against his plan for you because I would just constantly keep feeling this conviction like “This isn’t for you. You’re doing this to impress other people. You don’t want people to think you’re “not good enough” to be an MD. That’s the only reason you’re pre-med instead of pre-PA.” Finally, it just got to the point where I was being brutally honestly with myself and started back on a Pre-PA track. It’s just sad that so many people think nurses, PAs etc are just doctors that just “gave up”...um no. I have no doubt that if I truly wanted to be an MD, I definitely could without a doubt. But it’s not what I want to do and there’s more to healthcare than just a title. Not everyone has to be a doctor to provide excellent care to patients. Healthcare is a TEAM effort. Currently about to enter into junior year of undergrad, finishing up a CNA program and will hopefully start applying to PA schools within the next year/year and a half. Looooove your channel and thanks so much for this video!!! (:

PA is a fantastic choice with great flexibility! I agree! I know I could have gone to med school and been a great doctor, but for me, it's not about the money. I don't want to do something because everybody thinks I should do it or for the money. As silly and cliche as it may sound, money really isn't everything! I completely agree that patient care is a team effort! I've worked with amazing providers in all fields! Best of luck in this upcoming school year! 💞

I understand your dilemma as I was in the same boat in a way. with me, I thought the most natural career route I would take is become a nurse because of my CNA experience, but once I changed my major from pre-nursing to pre-PA I honestly felt differently inside even in my spirit that PA was a better fit for me

You have made the right choice!. In new york were I live, nurses are highly needed!!!. Our Nigerian parents just thinks you can only make a living in some certain professions.

I agree with all your reasoning as to why you chose nursing school. I was also a premed student, until I made a spontaneous switch to nursing, which honestly was the best thing that could happen to me. I am so happy with the field of nursing and it's diversity, that I felt was the best option. When you spoke about how "older Nigerian parents seeing the chose of choosing nursing means that you gave up", I've actually experienced that when someone told me that I chose nursing because I couldn't do medical school, which was really disrespectful to say. I've had many chances to switch and finish as a premed student, but my heart wasnt settling it and I still continued and followed my heart to go into nursing. ☺

And the most important thing is choosing something that genuinely interests you! There's no point in doing something if you're going to be miserable. Best of luck in all your future endeavors!! 💞

I feel you 100%. I used to basically force myself to like medicine because I thought the boss thing also and that mentality overall. There was nothing about the classes medicine in general that interested me

Some of the biology classes were interesting, however, Organic chemistry was boring to me.
