what i like most about him, is his ego isnt so big that he wont take the belt off himself that fucking awesome! and he's smart, he may been on drugs but no one's perfect, i would like to talk to this man and just a have a conversation we would probably learn so much from each other.
One of the few of these Guest Booker shows I've seen in full, and I have to say I loved it and Raven has a great mind. There were a few points where the host was visibly marking out at the thought of some of his ideas.
They did a good job of presenting the scattered nature of his mind. They used the transitions showing him sitting there staring, and at the end they showed him eating that food. But they also showed that Raven's scattered mind can produce good booking.
Odd thing. I re-watched this last night, and I can't believe I missed it. But if you watch, you will see him lay out what would eventually become Ryback's gimmick.
Raven's explanation of the fact that writers are hurting the business makes a lot of sense. everything is so overscripted now, watching wrestling feels like watching a soap-opera. they need to let guys just go out there and be themselves
+Anthony Ritenour The thing is, its been exaggerated by the writers to be a soap-opera to the point it never gives anyone a reason to give in to suspension of disbelief.
i always liked Raven. He was absolutely amazing in ECW, didnt really get utilized in WCW or WWE/F and did pretty well in TNA. Why he isnt bigger than he is now is beyond me. He is brilliant and a great wrestler and great on the mic. hell of a lot better than john cena
They should do Timeline: History of ECW 1996 with Raven. He could talk about his year on top, the feud he had with Sandman, the rise of Taz throughout the year, and the eventual beginning of the Barely Legal build by the end of the year. Also, he could touch on Sabu-RVD series, Douglas breaking Pitbull's neck, the end of Cactus Jack's stint in ECW as well as what Chris Jericho did in ECW for the few months he was there.
I think Raven could easily run a wrestling company. He has the wrestling knowledge, to choreograph and help choreograph matches, the intellect and linguistic skills to write and help write great promo's. As he just said in this he would allow guys to have creative control over their own gimmicks or at least to a degree (unlike wwe where they contradict a character's gimmick all the time). He is also quite a popular guy who has genuine friends in the business who would go under contract with him.
Yep, that is true, and it sure does show! Listen to any of his interviews and it's quite clear that the guy is gifted. People who aren't wrestling fans almost always give you the impression that they think wrestlers are not very bright. If they met Raven, methinks they'd be quite shocked.
The great thing about being a human is you don't have to use all your thought process for one activity it is possible to care and and think about multiple things in a day without passing out from exhaustion.
Yeah WWE often doesn't push people that are already big names from other places. Sometimes WWE is more concerned about misguided loyalty than making money.
I wouldn't mind watching a Raven booked show in WWE of TNA. Even doing some on the independent scene would be great. He is a pretty creative guy when it comes to wrestling. Great worker too.
When Raven was ECW champ they broke into three new states, increased their syndication tenfold, and held a show in Japan. If you defend your title in another country its pretty much guaranteed that you are now a World Champion. Also when Raven came back to ECW and he and Dreamer had their main event tag team run against the Impact players ECW payperviews actually outdrew WCW payperviews two to one thats a pretty big accomplishment.
I agree with some of the comments here. I used to live in Orlando and they had Raven talking about similar things about booking. I think this man has a definite future in this business from a promoter standpoint. I honestly hope he does look into starting his own promotion.
I think some might think do we really need another Raven shoot but I'd like to see Raven in a Youshoot with Kayfabe Commentaries or a timeline from either ECW/WCW or WWE or TNA even
I don't often see Raven shoots. This is cool. He's been in my top 10 favorites ever since I first saw him in the Raven character and I still didn't understand the concept of kayfabe. Years later, after figuring it out a lot more Raven is still one of my favorites because he is so damned smart. Back in '92 Roberts was screwed out of a writing job in the WWE, and I wonder what might have been with him writing for Levy while he was there in '94, but Levy booking now... damn that'd be just as good.
Raven's reign was cut off because they were moving to Spike TV and Jeff wanted the belt. Jerry Jarrett was upset that they made the title change and especially that they made it off TV. This was the beginning of his leaving the company. Type in TNA buyrates in google and you'll see that Slammiversary, No Surrender, Sacrifice, and Unbreakable all had bigger buyrates then Hard Justice, Against All Odds, and Destination X and those PPV's had TV.
At the end of 99' ECW's buyrates beat WCW's Raven jumped to ECW around September. I am point blank telling you that Raven and Dreamer's matches against the Impact Players occured in 2000 and the last half of 99. They went on last at two payperviews and were the advertised main event at four including Guilty as Charged 2000, Living Dangerously 2000, and November 2 Remember 99.
He's 100% right, mid card Bookers think they can book everybody, the end result is main Eventers being treated as mid-carders and Jobbers bring treated as mid-carders.
@dubq The diffrence is bookers book cards and give wreslers a story and let the wreslers decied how to get from point A to point b, and a Writer writes a script like wrelsing is a movie and demads a wresler to memerioze their lines
raven is a fucking genius... he should become a booker... he would create the best storylines, and can build any worker to new heights... much like TNA needs here and there
Not to mention once he came back to ECW he recieved one of if not the loudest pops in the history of any wrestling promotion. He and Dreamer were then the main focus of ECW on TNN. They headlined three payperviews with the Impact Players. Then Raven and Sandman began a war where Dreamer was caught in the middle. Also ECW's payperviews consistently drew bigger numbers than WCW. Who still had bigger ratings than Smackdown does today.
The same show that the Dudley's wrestled Sabu and RVD was main evented by Dreamer/Raven it took place at Budokan Hall it drew 15,000 if you want visual confirmation of it go to bloodriotzero's youtube page and look for Raven's promo in Japan or look it up on youtube. I'm not going to take my time to look it up for you when you five seconds away from doing it yourself.
Erm, he had quite a large hand in what is regarded as one of the best, if not The best, angles that ECW ever did. In fact, its the angle which made Tommy Dreamer ECWs biggest babyface and it managed to span over 2 years without ever being stale.
raven loves that nose candy you can tell watching his shoots. I heard raven said he would take a TNA booking gig if Dixie could get him a pound of coke to snort; :P
Raven is considered one of the best minds in the business, someone who could be a great booker. So he was given the opportunity here to show what he would have done had he been the booker in a certain period of time. In this case, the scenario has The Outsiders going to ECW rather than WCW, and Raven is asked to book the angles, as well as ECW's first pay-per-view, Barely Legal.
Since you posted the same comment twice under different names here is for your sock account The great thing about being a human is you don't have to use all your thought process for one activity it is possible to care and and think about multiple things in a day without passing out from exhaustion.
"JR's said on LOW: round table that if Hall didn't have the problems he has, that he has a great mind for wrestling and would be an asset to booking matches." If whales had wings they could fly, too.
Raven kept TNA payperviews buys at around 20,000 which is fucking amazing considering they had just been kicked off FSN. Also the buys for the payperviews when he was champion were actually bigger than when they were on FSN and Jarrett and AJ Styles were champs. Plus your ignoring the fact that The World Title in TNA at the time was the NWA World Title. Which is the oldest most prestigious title in wrestling history.
Tazz didn't flop, he was buried. They jobbed him out in the hardcore division and then to the Big Bossman (for god's sake). Then he started wearing jumpsuits and that was that.
FMW didn't usually draw 16,000 fans some of their big shows did. The Raven/Dreamer and Raven/Sandman feud did huge business throughout for ECW. Those people did show up to watch Raven and Dreamer. You didn't even know the match happened. Go watch it before you speak the crowd was waiting for that match. Somehow you think that magically people just started loving ECW because of the overall product. You should know that by Paul Heyman's own admission Raven was booking alot of ECW back then.
LOL yeah you're good to book one main event program, but book for an entire show month after month after month. Or book what happens with Hall & Nash after their main event program. What heppens to them a year into booking? Two years?
Raven was getting bigger pops than Sting in late 1998/ early 1999. The reason why he never got out of the mid card is because they wouldn't allow him to. He had a feud with Roddy Piper lined up that was meant to elevate him to the next level before the WCW heads nixed it.
Oh well. All I know is the ECW title has been defended there. Unless that was complete Hyperbole on Paul Heyman's part, which I doub. IF not under the ECW banner then at a spot show.
It sounded good the parts I caught, he was talking way to fast. I dig this idea having guest bookers but it would be better if it was real cause great ideas come during showers, doing normal errands, or physically working. It's harder to just sit down and force it
It's a darn shame Raven has pretty much burned bridges with both WWE and TNA: I wouldn't mind having him on commentary and I'm sure he could add some insight to the booking even in this PG age. Good to see he's doing well.
I think you meant to say ECW by the way. I always said he was incredibly over, he didn't get a face pop because most of the time he was working heel Raven only staid face in WCW for about a year and then he left the company, when he was a heel though he would usually get booed out of the building hell he had a fan run up and try to choke him when he was sitting in the corner one time(if you want a link to that go watch the botchamanias its in one of those.) That is heat, my friend.
He did. I can see why you would be confused because you obviously just recently learned all of your "expert" info by watching the ECW dvd but ECW just shot its TV show in the ECW arena they ran other buildings all over the place. I mean have you ever seen the Elk's lodge, or the Hammerstein Ballroom. You realize they have been running those buildings sense 96 right.
what i like most about him, is his ego isnt so big that he wont take the belt off himself that fucking awesome! and he's smart, he may been on drugs but no one's perfect, i would like to talk to this man and just a have a conversation we would probably learn so much from each other.
Raven should really be a booker
One of the few of these Guest Booker shows I've seen in full, and I have to say I loved it and Raven has a great mind. There were a few points where the host was visibly marking out at the thought of some of his ideas.

Odd thing. I re-watched this last night, and I can't believe I missed it. But if you watch, you will see him lay out what would eventually become Ryback's gimmick.
If I had a wrestling company I defiantly would give Raven total control of the product.
Raven's explanation of the fact that writers are hurting the business makes a lot of sense. everything is so overscripted now, watching wrestling feels like watching a soap-opera. they need to let guys just go out there and be themselves
thats all wrestling has ever been, a soap opera!! where have you been
+Anthony Ritenour The thing is, its been exaggerated by the writers to be a soap-opera to the point it never gives anyone a reason to give in to suspension of disbelief.
Raven's original personality is so cool. he should have had that personality as his wrestling personality.
i always liked Raven. He was absolutely amazing in ECW, didnt really get utilized in WCW or WWE/F and did pretty well in TNA. Why he isnt bigger than he is now is beyond me. He is brilliant and a great wrestler and great on the mic. hell of a lot better than john cena
so smart i seriously think that raven should be ceo of tna
They should do Timeline: History of ECW 1996 with Raven. Raven is wrestling in the 90s!
TNA, do yourselves a favor and put this man on creative!
He's really intellectual, remember seeing somewhere that he had an IQ of 140 Somin.
Yep, that is true, and it sure does show! Listen to any of his interviews and it's quite clear that the guy is gifted. People who aren't wrestling fans almost always give you the impression that they think wrestlers are not very bright. If they met Raven, methinks they'd be quite shocked.
+joey smith Yeah Scott Hall was pretty smart with the business when he wasn't drinking. He came up with Sting's Crow gimmick after all.
Take a 10 min Internet IQ test and see if your iq isn't 141.
Still can't wait to get this.
Raven should be a booker for Aew or Impact
Quote the Raven nevermore
The great thing about being a human is you don't have to use all your thought process for one activity it is possible to care and and think about multiple things in a day without passing out from exhaustion.

Raven is just amazing.

I have this DVD - Highly recommended!
The usic is kick ass
Raven's booking for Billy Corgan's wrestling company, he said so on his latest video blog this week
I never thought about that scenario before, but wow, what if?
amen, I don't know the context that you made this statement in because I didn't read the past comments, but I agree.
I think some might think do we really need another Raven shoot but I'd like to see Raven in a Youshoot with Kayfabe Commentaries or a timeline from either ECW/WCW or WWE or TNA even

Can someone tell me why Raven, maybe the greatest mind in the business, isn't the booker of TNA yet?
He has held a World Title on three separate occasions. So he was a main eventer.
he said in an interview, he doesn't want to do it.
Wow... He's good...
Raven is the MAN NEVERMORE

he was good in he ring his evenfloww ddt was tight. many say he was smart and creative. he co-wrote a tangled web spiderman comiv that was really good
book nwo in ecw wow
The man knows the business.
raven is a fucking genius... he should become a booker... he would create the best storylines, and can build any worker to new heights... much like TNA needs here and there

hell yeah!
It's a fantasy scenario. This video was filmed last year.
@SimplyXxXWild He did in ECW.
@ANecromanticEvil yeah man, they were great in the '90s but their times has been waaaaaay up!
the background music takes the shoot feel out of it
The same show that the Dudley's wrestled Sabu and RVD was main evented by Dreamer/Raven it took place at Budokan Hall it drew 15,000 if you want visual confirmation of it go to bloodriotzero's youtube page and look for Raven's promo in Japan or look it up on youtube. I love Punk, but he's all about delivery and character. Raven was/is a fucking genius. On a creative level, Punk doesn't touch Raven.
Raven blogs on youtube. His youtube name is theraveneffecttv or theraveneffect
MISS RAVEN WRESTLING
Hey! Johnny Polo!
What the crap happened to August? On the board it read, "June July Sept Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb March April"
Erm, he had quite a large hand in what is regarded as one of the best, if not The best, angles that ECW ever did. In fact, its the angle which made Tommy Dreamer ECWs biggest babyface and it managed to span over 2 years without ever being stale.
Does any one know where i can find on the road with raven DVD on youtube? Or any where else for that matter
@Fultonfalcons86 although there was one funny segment he did in the wwf offices on tour...you look at him then and all you can see is raven lol
He also managed Adam Bomb for a bit as that gimmick.
quote the Raven never more
agree so fucking much with his first comment about the writers.
@boombya123 he's also apart of MENSA
raven loves that nose candy you can tell watching his shoots. I heard raven said he would take a TNA booking gig if Dixie could get him a pound of coke to snort; :P
Sounds a lot like where TNA is too.
if raven returned to tna as an investor. that would get responses
You would think somebody would
name of the song?or music theme??????????its excellent
is it the lighting or is raven losing his hair?lol
he rocks man
Anyone know what the background music is for these Guest Booker trailers?
anyone know where the music is from? Where we can get it?
yep raven needs to book tna

I'm going to have to look up a review on this but has anyone seen this in its entirety and is it any good?

He is referring to how Raven made his debut in WCW. He is saying it was obvious that Raven was already a big draw then.
he does a great foley impersonation
LOL yeah you're good to book one main event program, but book for an entire show month after month after month. Or book what happens with Hall & Nash after their main event program. What heppens to them a year into booking? Two years?
Raven yes. Fuck yes.
@Fultonfalcons86 How about his second gimmick, in the WWF as Johnny Polo, the managers of the Quebecers :-)
Raven is professional wrestling
Raven was getting bigger pops than Sting in late 1998/ early 1999.
The reason why he never got out of the mid card is because they wouldn't allow him to. He had a feud with Roddy Piper lined up that was meant to elevate him to the next level before the WCW heads nixed it.
I know Hall is clean now, not sure about Raven but both deserve to at least be on a booking committee or road agents.
Oh well. All I know is the ECW title has been defended there. Unless that was complete Hyperbole on Paul Heyman's part, which I doub. IF not under the ECW banner then at a spot show.

whats the name of the song in the background?
raven is returning to tna lockdown
dude 1996 wants its eyebrow ring back
name of the track, please?
It's a darn shame Raven has pretty much burned bridges with both WWE and TNA: I wouldn't mind having him on commentary and I'm sure he could add some insight to the booking even in this PG age.

to say he pulled this out his ass it was amazing
@x2xtreme360 well he was a master degree. he is also a former new york city school teacher. so stryker must have some brains to be a a school teacher.
What does any of that have to do with booking pro wrestling?
i agree that this would have been spectacular, but ecw didnt have turners cabbage to offer hall and nash. as even raven himself wound up at wcw.
Has anyone seen this?
Is it worth getting?
