I continue to appreciate how direct and honest you are about failings and issues you've come across. I know all the reviewers face the same struggles, but I think you are the most honest and authentic with stating them in full color. Keep up the good work!
@ for sure! To the point where the company literally changes the GPS accuracy for all users for a temporary period of time to deal with power drain issues uncovered!
@@Dcrainmaker totally agree with those guys. This video is gold. And I also find your reviews (very) honest and I love that. But man, you should also review the T-Rex 3. Somehow it's the first time that everybody is also talking about an Amazfit watch because it seems that is the very first time they have made something that's is accurate and the price is just ridiculous when comparing to others. I think you are the best reviewer out there and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who would love to see you viewpoint with that watch (which is making a lot of noise)
Wow this is actually a huge update for me. so smoothly when you zoom in and out, also the gps accuracy is totally impressive. Can't wait to see pace pro vs 265 and maybe apex 2 pro.
As a beta tester from day one, this thing absolutely nailed it! Definitely my daily driver now! The optical heart rate was spot on during running with NO difference from the Polar h10, as well as the gps tracking! I was worried about it being seen in sunlight, but it is perfectly clear and bright!! Hands down the maps are the best yet on any Coros
@NickLarson-ur6yx do not work for Coros no, but was a beta tester that has the watch I hand and have experienced it firsthand. Just confirming what all the reviewers have already said in the couple vids I've responded too
@@brum293 most definitely! Nice! I'm so glad COROS finally figured out the open water swimming. Previously I was seeing COROS lose signal and never find it again. 😬 They also improved lap swimming by adding a drill mode option. I agree. I think this catabolizes a good bit of their other higher-end watches. Great review as always Ray!
I think the problem with Coros’s price is that it really isn’t competing against Garmin’s latest watches, but it’s heavily discounted older watches. You can get a 955 for close to this price. Even the Epix (Gen2) is now on sale for $499. Both have far superior maps and a boatload of other features including Garmin Connect and ConnectIQ. If they could have gotten the price closer to the Pace 3, say under $300, I think they would have a winner where people will accept a lot of the disadvantages (like they did with the a original Pace).
Hey there, appreciate the feedback here! We will add street names to maps in 2025 on PACE Pro, and I'm also curious to hear what specifically you find better or more feature-filled in Garmin Connect as compared to the COROS app (excluding the ConnectIQ store for developers)? Thanks in advance! - Darian
@COROSGlobal Garmin has better brand name than Coros; so your value add will be to go with at leats one thing to bring people over to your eco-system. And that I think will be price. $300 / $299 Coros Pace Pro would have done that. Now I am going to dump by Coros Pace 3 for Garmin 265. Eventhough Pace Pro has better battery life and feature of stuff; just b/c price of $350... People who are considering $350 price now will consider $400/$450 watch. $299... would have been a homerun. You guys should have just did like lower internal storage 8GB to bring the price down. If its was $299.. I would have gone with Coros Pace Pro - in an instant. Now you not only lost a loyal customer but I am now going to tell people to just buy Sunto Race S or Garmin 265 on sale - instead of Coros Pace Pro. You guys messed up big time here.
I have to disagree. For watches at a similar price point, I always prefer Coros for these reasons: 1. Battery life: Coros’ battery life always more consistently aligns closer to the claims on their website compared to Garmin. 2. Software support: Coros provides better software support across all their watch models than Garmin. 3. Coros’ app is cleaner and more focused on the metrics I need as a runner. I've had suuto race s since it launched, because I wanted a smaller watch with amoled screen vs my bulky vertix 2. but I ended up still always bringing my vertix 2 for all my runs because the app experience in suunto is not as nice as coros. So just ordered my pace pro and planning to sell my race s
@HULAHULADADA Coros watch menu interface seems 3rd class, you need to admit that, but now with Pace Pro at least, its brighter and could be more responsive. Garmin 265 - putting hand over screen to turn it off, alone is good enough to switch over, if its same price. Music control is another. People talk about battery life.. yeah have 7 days is great on Coros but 5 days on Garmin is fine.. anything over 48 hrs is fine... when coming from Galaxy watch where I had to charge it twice per day. @_@ Apple watch is daily as well.
I was waiting for a newer version of Pace 3 but it was too long so I bought the GT5 and what it is like, beautiful design, luxurious and also full of basic features for training at a good price.
Huge upgrade from my Pace 2. The new screen is beautiful and much easier to read. Also like the additional weight, makes it feel more substantial. Couldn't get it to wake up this morning so I pushed in the dial for 15 seconds, plugged it in and it woke up.
Update: the shutdown issue keeps happening. Three times in the two days I've had it. Submitted ticket to Coros but no reply yet. Just FYI if you're thinking of buying.
It is a solid update but I would prefer these same updates on an Apex model; my watches do take a beating and this having a plastic bezel and a mineral lens would mean it will look beaten up in no time. BTW, I read your written review and there is something I do not agree with regarding the strava integration; I'm not only totally fine with Strava routes not synching automatically, but I find it desirable; they could actually add a toggle for that in case you prefer the other way, though.
Very excited for the comparison video with the Pace Pro and Race S! I'm sure my ideal watch will be a mix of the two leaving me with a hard choice to make...
I usually record cycling on my Wahoo Roam with Wahoo Tickr on my upper arm for heart rate. I’ve been using the Coros Apex 2 in GPS Cardio workout for the extra heart and recovery data. It’s a fairly close match on distance and heart rate.
My biggest gripe with Coros (when using the Pace 3) was that when doing track workouts, the pace had a lag and would hop around compared to Garmin. Even after purchasing the Pod, it didn’t seem to help much. Curious if this is improved on the Pace Pro?
Thanks for the video. I would personally appreciate if you could dive into more of the notifications and how they work in each of your reviews! I have a pace 3 sitting in a drawer because I do not like how you have to clear the notifications from both your watch and your phone. Garmin on the other hand clears the other device if you clear it on one! If coros could fix this I'd be happy to go to the Pace pro as the Pace 3 is by far the most comfortable fitness watch that I've owned!
Awesome video! Question: does the faster processor apply to the in the moment running pace? In other words if you start running faster during your run how long does the watch take to show your new faster pace? I know other reviewers noted in their reviews of past Coros watches that there was a lag when doing intervals compared to other watches and the watch took a bit to show the pace they were running during the interval. TIA
How's the build quality? Does it feel more sturdy? I wasn't keen on items like the Pace 2, Forerunner 55 and Forerunner 165 because they felt really cheap and plasticky. The Suunto Race S has a pretty solid build that puts the midrange Garmin watches (255, 265) to shame. I'm expecting the Polar M3 to have a similarly good build quality I suppose? From this video I see that Coros disappointingly retained an all-plastic construction, even the bezel? A little bit of aluminium could have gone a long way looks-wise if they didn't want to use stainless steel due to weight.
It's strange looking at the background :) And the environment where you are running because it seems closer to the environment where I live :) Different than Amsterdam, for sure. Well done for the video, and if you have the opportunity, try to eat the fruit of the cactus (the one behind you when it gets ripe). Just don't eat a lot :)
I was lucky enough to test this watch for the past few months. As soon as I took it out of the box, it became my daily driver. Heart rate and GPS was always spot on. AMOLED screen is beautiful in person. As always with Coros, battery life is incredible and the watch is super light. It’s honestly, the perfect watch for me, not even close.
Amazing insight as always. Will you be doing a comparison video with other watches in the similar price bracket? For example, the forerunner 265/265s. Cheers
I’m considering getting one of those to replace my watch ultra 2, which after roughly a year I find heavy and too big. Price is also compelling, considering the feature set! Would you do that? I’m mainly using my watch to track tennis, walks/hiking, and weight training. I also use it for sleep tracking and to gather training load data. I wouldn’t use cycling tracking because I have a wahoo for that, so HR accuracy on that front doesn’t really matter to me.
Think I've found my upgrade from original Apex. I like how the training load resets each week and if I want to see the monthly view I go to the training hub
I have a PACE 3 and I wish PACE PRO did not use a mineral glass, something more harder and scratch proof. This is why I have also have a protector case my watch. AMOLED is nice but still on the fence if I really need to upgrade, however if this came out with something like a gorilla glass, I'll be swayed more to upgrade.
Interesting indeed! Pace 3 and Pace 2 were absolute trash when cycling regardless of how tight the watch was. Curious to see improvements in mapping and turn by turn directions. The Dura I have misses 40% of the time, but I've also noticed it varies based on the GPX file passed to it.
Love my Pace 3 and surprisingly I’ve gotten used to the MIP display. Amoled will likely be a great medium for those who have been looking to jump ship from Garmin but this watch just looks like a toy. That’s one downside with this one and some of their more colorful watches, the plastic used looks so toylike that it’s hard to justify the increased price point in my opinion. Also those colorful back buttons don’t help lol. Like just make it a neutral color if you want some contrast. Or make the buttons changeable.
If I was buying a watch now, this would be what I'd go with. Eventually I'll be switching to Coros. Absolutely sick of Garmin, my 955's touch screen stopped working long ago, charging port sucks too, but most of all the Index S2 scales I bought are a complete scam, they don't seem to make any scan for the body composition scans and Garmin refuses to do anything about it. Can't wait to switch to Coros, cheaper and from what I've seen just as good as Garmins offerings.
any advice for a trail runner with 400/500euros budget, im waiting for BlackFriday but i really dunno where to go! it was fenix 7 saphire or sunto race or this coros ? if it was apex3 it will be a no brainer :p
Coros actually supports Bluetooth FTMS. How Garmin gets away without supporting that and not a reviewer ever brings it up is wild to me. It’s the protocol that most treadmills and trainers use.
Garmin supports ANT+ FE-C, which was around years before Bluetooth FTMS, and since every single trainer on the planet supports ANT+ FE-C (but not actually Bluetooth FTMS), it makes little sense for Garmin to add support for it to wearables or bike computers, because it limits the concurrent connections (since most of the trainers out in the wild only support a single BT connection, not multiple connections). Add to that, in the age of Zwift/etc, very few consumers ever bother controlling their trainers via their watches or bike computers (as all of these companies will tell you). Low single-digit percentages. As for treadmills, nah, almost none actually support either. Only a handful of the newest most expensive treadmills do, and even then, they only support it for read-only operations (save the Wahoo KICKR RUN, which just started shipping, and no watches control treadmills anyway). If you walk into a gym or hotel, there's approximately a 99% chance your watch won't connect to it, regardless of which protocol it's using. Meanwhile, if we want to get really picky, we'd point out why I didn't mention that COROS doesn't support ANT+ (or FE-C), given that far more trainers support that than FTMS. That of course limits which trainers they can pull power data off of, when that trainer is being controlled by an app like Zwift, since again, the vast majority of trainers in the wild only support a single connection.
How is it for swimming compared to Forerunner 935 or newer. Is the HR realiable on the wrist for swimming? In fact how is it overall for triathlon training and racing?
Optical HR on any watch is a total crap shoot, so many factors, all companies basically say “maybe if you’re lucky it’ll barely work”. As for GPS, it’s been a long long time since I’ve swam with the 935z
If this meets your demands, great. For me, to be the same price as the Apex 2 is insanity, and I’d take that any day of the week over this, but I’m a backpacker and that’s what I’d use it for. Yeah, great screen, but we’re sacrificing durability (no sapphire glass or titanium bezel?) and battery life for that screen? Hard pass. At least it has offline maps, which is great at this price point, and it looks better implemented than the Apex 2’a offline maps. Still not worth it.
After 15 years off garmin since fenix 1 forerunner 920xt to epix 2, going thru edge 800 1000... 1040. Tired off their lack off innovation... so i have been very interested in choros. Great hopes
Nope. Same as Vertix 2S, but not the same as the Pace 3 or Apex 2, you can clearly see the differences in the metal ring around the outer edge. Either way, new compared to the Pace 3.
@ interesting. They all look the same to me. The metal ring around the sensor have any impact of the sensor? The sensor itself looks the same across all watches in photos. But I could be wrong as I don’t have them all to see in person. Which you would have. So I guess the question is. Is the actual sensor the same if you disregard the metal ring around the sensor?
Would have been a great option for me but its just too big for daily use for my small wrist unlike garmin with the s variants at the same price eg 265s
Maybe isn’t in your focus but can you try someday competitive this pace pro watch with pace 3 in a team sport like football, basketball etc. I have pace 3 and I’m happy with it in all other scenarios but for football game the gps accuracy is terrible. At the end of the 60min game Apple and Garmin show around 5km movements and Pace 3 … 2km.
@szymucha5613 I switched from the coros pace 3 to the garmin 965. If you will use it only for running i would recommend the pace 3. As it has everything (except for music but i always bring my phone). If you also cycle the advantage of garmin is that everything is synced to the garmin connect app. If you use a third party app like strava or something to track fitness this is no issue. As i runner i found the coros app way better.
Another one going to Crapoled Town, destroying the only reason for me to consider them over Garmin. Guess they've all figured out that increased battery wear is actually good for the bottom line.
I had a Coros pace two, after two years the bezel failed to connect it would turn without impacting the screen.... outside of warranty and they wouldn't repair. Has put me off Coros, anyone else had any issues with them? The price of pace pro more attractive than garmin
Dude, you have a hairy arm. You should shave the small spot where the optical sensor contacts your skin. Same for when you use an armband. The hairs will deflect the light beams in both directions; the output and the reflection back to the sensor.
First, my hair on my arm is blond, thus, it actually doesn't impact much in the way of optical HR sensors. Second, virtually no normal consumer is shaving their arms to improve optical HR sensors, and thus, me doing it certainly wouldn't represent the norm. Third, my skin and arm hair (combined with a decade of me knowing how precisely to wear optical HR sensors for the best possible results), means i'm pretty much the easiest test to pass. If a HR sensor doesn't work on me, everyone else is hosed.
Waiting for the direct comparison video eagerly. The Garmin ecosystem and company size versus the features of the others. I had been set on the Suunto Race S with maps being worth more to me than the 265 app’s but now will wait for the DCR comparison.
@@Dcrainmakerto me , you lost your credibility after COROS dura review. But of course, it’s your channel , and you decide which company to support, and not me.
@@Dcrainmakeryou normally go quite easy on Garmin glitches and you took quite a radical approach towards COROS first iteration of product. It was quite brutal and honestly a bit over the top review. Having said that, I totally understand if you incline more towards one company than others. Like I said, your channel , your shots!
@ There’s a difference between teething bugs (which I call out lore than any other reviewer out there, period), and a product that’s literally unusable. Navigation pointed the wrong direction, power data had missing chunks, and battery life a fraction of advertised. And that’s the basic stuff, we won’t even get into the medium-complexity stuff. How exactly should one have reviewed that?
Another product tester here. I have to say I've loved it and it's taken the place of my Apex 2, now. During testing I ran with it side by side with my Apex + POD2 + HRM and the data I was getting was so incredibly close to the Apex + accessories. Especially the HR, impressively accurate. It's battery life also outlasts the Apex and that's running with "all systems" on. The AMOLED screen is actually just like a nice to have bonus in reality. I found that as long as I was in shade, I could take really nice clear, clean pictures without those black lines appearing. Very pleased to have this as my daily watch now.
Probably to an extent. But that's the thing about smaller companies, they can afford to go all-in on features and price-ratio without having to worry about killing off upper-tier units. In fact, that's what made the very original Pace popular years ago, COROS didn't have to worry about higher-end units that (at the time), didn't exist. These days of course, they'd likely say those higher end units have better materials (e.g. titanium or sapphire displays), as reasons to purchase those. (Though, as one who does this for a job, it's always kinda funny, because short of a plane crash, it's impossible to break any of today's "plastic" watches. And heck, they don't scratch like the metal bezel watches. Likewise, the mineral glass displays of today are so strong I never see scratches on mine, despite constantly whacking into stuff...but...so be it...).
I was wishing the same thing then i realized garmin pay isnt supported by my bank and a lot of other banks where i live and i could just carry my debit/credit card in my shorts back pocket without feeling it cuz it weighs 10 grams and works everywhere, imo nfc watch payments like garmin are a nice idea but not great execution unless its apple or android so better to save money
Out of curiosity, which feature should Garmin be copying COROS from (outside of putting mapping in lower-priced devices, which I assume will happen in a Forerunner 275 or whatever)?

That’s one downside with this one and some of their more colorful watches, the plastic used looks so toylike that it’s hard to justify the increased price point in my opinion. Also those colorful back buttons don’t help lol. Like just make it a neutral color if you want some contrast. Or make the buttons changeable.
Did they already fix the pace delayed ????
Thank you for your wonderful work.
Can you imagine testing the Amazfit t rex 3?
Already testing, review up soon.
@Dcrainmaker Fantastic 👍
As for GPS, it’s been a long long time since I’ve swam with the 935z
how is this watch for indoor cycling? I have a wahoo kickr core
Maybe try an ND filter on your camera to get rid of the watch screen flickering
How locked in are the coros platform? Does it sync with any other platform and are the data easy to extract like on Garmin?
They sync outbound to many major platforms, including Strava and TrainingPeaks, or, you can very easily export a .FIT file from them too.
What sports profile is suitable for delivery guys to track their daily work activities?
After 15 years off garmin since fenix 1 forerunner 920xt to epix 2, going thru edge 800 1000... 1040.
Tired off their lack off innovation... so i have been very interested in choros.
Great hopes
I've tested all brands. Coros is the best if you want a tool not a toy.
New HR sensor? Looks the exact same as the pace 3, apex 2 line and vertix 2s?
Would have been a great option for me but its just too big for daily use for my small wrist unlike garmin with the s variants at the same price eg 265s
does it do VO2 max ?
I'm in 2 minds to get a coros pace pro or a fenix 7 pro sapphire since it's way down in price. Has anyone used both? And which do yous prefer?
Thank you
Maybe isn’t in your focus but can you try someday competitive this pace pro watch with pace 3 in a team sport like football, basketball etc. I have pace 3 and I’m happy with it in all other scenarios but for football game the gps accuracy is terrible. At the end of the 60min game Apple and Garmin show around 5km movements and Pace 3 … 2km.
Hmm, interesting. Maybe I'll attach a few to my daughters for their next football game.
when you mention APEX3 price, but is it better, same or worse? ;)
How would you compare that watch with garmin forerunner 955? i can't decide which one is better
965
@@DonGib888 so if i dont care about amoled display i should get a 955 ?
@szymucha5613 I switched from the coros pace 3 to the garmin 965. If you will use it only for running i would recommend the pace 3. As it has everything (except for music but i always bring my phone). If you also cycle the advantage of garmin is that everything is synced to the garmin connect app. If you use a third party app like strava or something to track fitness this is no issue. As i runner i found the coros app way better.
@@szymucha5613 Instinct 2x is class if you don't care about Amoled or Music/Maps.
For people who set the screen on always on the battery life difference is too much to ignore
MIP IS WAY AHEAD
MIP is 👑 I don't like at all where this trend of AMOLED displays is going on
@@ArmendKrasniqi
Yeah, I don't mind giving people the option, but I don't want it to get to a point where AMOLED is the only option in a lot of models
But why race s and m3 not included in cycling heart rate test without chest strap😢
Because I only have two wrists? And I did cycling HR tests in each of those reviews.
The screen looks a lot crisper than my Epix 2 Pro (not to mention smoother...)
Many less features though
399€ and mineral glass, no thanks.
Waiting for the direct comparison video eagerly. The Garmin ecosystem and company size versus the features of the others. I had been set on the Suunto Race S with maps being worth more to me than the 265 app’s but now will wait for the DCR comparison.
Easter egg at 7:20 ;-)
...for now. ;)
NFC?
No
For €400 maybe the Amazfit T-Rex 3 is a better option at €300
Eat some fresh prickly pears from the back !
DC Rainmaker does not look excited at all if a non Garmin product looks better than Garmin. Funeral vibes what I normally get ;)
Strange, I was pretty happy if you ask me. I think they did a solid job.
@@Dcrainmakerto me , you lost your credibility after COROS dura review. But of course, it’s your channel , and you decide which company to support, and not me.
@@Gohealt Huh? How on earth did I lose credibility after COROS Dura? Because I pointed out it was so half baked they had to delay release a month?
All i saw was 1337 🤩
Finally, someone!!!!

Price in Poland 349
They are going too far from the original” Pace” concept…
My eyes watching for polar m3 in heart rate test

So Coros just killed the rest of their line up..
349$ = 399€ = so great EU pays more...please don't talk about TAX...even with tax is cheaper in USA.
pluggy part is new as their cable is rubbish!
I wish coros had nfc payment
Why not coffee?
I was wishing the same thing then i realized garmin pay isnt supported by my bank and a lot of other banks where i live and i could just carry my debit/credit card in my shorts back pocket without feeling it cuz it weighs 10 grams and works everywhere, imo nfc watch payments like garmin are a nice idea but not great execution unless its apple or android so better to save money
When I first heard of Coros I figured they copied Garmin. Now Garmin needs to start copying Coros now.
Out of curiosity, which feature should Garmin be copying COROS from (outside of putting mapping in lower-priced devices, which I assume will happen in a Forerunner 275 or whatever)?
@@DcrainmakerPrice is a feature, in fairness.
First 😮
Good job
