Did Dani lose all her hair again when Drogon burns the maze?
Detailed map ?!? What am I missing ?
So basically, Qarth is Alexandria, Egypt.
Never understood why Danny never just conquered Qarth
Qarth is not Las Vegas, Qarth is Dubai.
Do the Andals
Qarth is suppose to be like Istanbul/Constantinople
more like baghdad
More like Basra (Iraq), sydon (lebanon) or Yemen, Aden. I believe in terms of climate, geography, importance and history
Wow
Do you mean like Istanbul?
It's literally named after a phoenician colony named qart
TES music
Essos is so huge... and westeros so small. Is like "LoTR" focuses only in hobbiton.
The Undying-Vampires
Where does Qarth get it's water from ? There is no river or lake nearby.
It’s on an ocean
@@Chungus581 Humans cannot drink sea water. But it's Qarth, so maybe they can xD
It's sits at the mouth of a river.
Let's hear about the city of leng in the far east
There's a city named Leng and it's located in the far East. It's a reference to Lovecraft. I believe that's literally the bulk of all the information ever released on Leng.
I think the game of thrones show did not do a great job showing & explaining it.
I think Volantis is Constantinople. Qarth is more like Carthage or Baghdad
Acoording to GRRM it is Constantinople. Since he invented it I tend to believe him.
@@aberwarum222 In the actual quote - I'm willing to bet the context was more along the lines of 'like Constantinople'. He doesn't just pluck entire localities and import them into the stories with different names. He takes from a ton of different sources and compiles them into something new. A little Byzantium here, a little Baghdad there, a sprinkling of Qart in the name. Poof - Qarth!
@@fuzzydunlop7928 The Q and A that I saw with him he just stated that Constantinople was his inspiration for this particular City. But hey the human mind is not the best in remembering details, so he might have said it was one of his inspirations for this city.
@@aberwarum222 Even if he didn't (y'know why would he feel the need to specify in that situation? Like it matters to him the same way it does to us), Qarth isn't a complete 1-for-1 take on Constantinople - there are other ideas in Qarth that have to come from somewhere, they have to get written down and come from somewhere. I just think it's reductive to say it's solely Constantinople because it kinda diminishes the work GRRM put into the place. He didn't just take Constantinople, all of his locations are composites.
I'm a sorrowful woman, I whisper "I am so sorry" before i kill bugs
This comment is so underrated. What is wrong with these people? I am so sorry this comedy gold flew under the radar.
@@fuzzydunlop7928 thank you :') I guess we just have elevated taste😪😂
@@jasminem812 Ha! Must be the case. I legitimately guffawed when I read that.
Why would they need three walls if they're located in Red Waste?🤔
That s Valyria for you
Okay can someone answer my questions cuz I’m so confused.
So they say that Qarth is the middle of the world which is now Britain. but in other videos and maps people say that westeros IS actually Britain but Qarth is in essos so how is this??!!
Westeros looks like Britain but it is not the center of the world
Is that Skyrim music?
So Qarth is basically Constantinople...
No it’s Carthage. Constantinople wasn’t an old city and was Roman/Greek and the center of an empire. Qarth is a city state like Carthage was, has a history basically analogous to Carthage and the same political history as Carthage. Constantinople would have to be a city derived from Valyria which is this universe’s analogue to Rome
Where you get this pictures from?
So, Constantinople? East/ West and great walls.
, it’s Carthage or Qart-Hadasht. It’s one of the only cities in GoT that is basically exactly the same as a real city, even it’s name means “City” in Phoenician, the language of Carthage. History is basically the same as Carthage’s too but w magic added in
Ahh, good ol Xano Xora Ducksauce.
Qarth reminds me of Constantinople. Called the city that bridges the East and West.
No
It's literally named after a phoenician colony named qart
so basically quarth is Istanbul...
Nah. More like Constantinople.
2 Days our and all the major TH-cam channels have gone silent!!! Smh what’s happing??
So Qarth is Monaco?
Qarth seem to be based off of Baghdat to me. Not Carthage like everyone thinks so. But thats just my opinion.
It's literally named after a phoenician colony named qart which had three walls
Thumbnail looks like Ryan from the office
Or Dubai?
So it's kind of like ancient Babylon
Turns out Quarth is a mix of india, ancient middle east with a pit of Canada
2:37 qarth is more dubai to me 🏝
so it’s like turkey, straddling east and west
It is like a mixture of alexandria and constantinople
kind of reminds me of dubai in alot of ways too, I guess dubai is a 21st century midway trade city
It’s literally Carthage dude. GRRM basically used the history of Carthage, added magic and boom made Qarth
The Babylon of Essos.
