There are lemon trees in the Sea Lords garden. Don't see why there couldnt be any in the house with the red doors garden.
@@MR.Z1991 the problem is that in Dany's dreams with the red door she sees green grass everywhere around her and many LITTLE stone houses. So I don't think it is braavos
Why is there a giant P.V. or R.V. initial drawn into the map? (near Ragman's Harbor) Is that the initials of the map's illustrator? Pretty clever way to sign your name is in the very streets themselves if that is indeed what it is. I noticed it first in my WOIAF book.
So the Braavosi aren't just one race of people but a mixed group of descendants of former run away slaves?

Even with all the explanation I find difficult to believe that an Empire with thousands of dragons couldn't conquer the city of Braavos.
Braavos was a secret city. They are hiding from the dragon lords coz they were slaves.
Dragon lords died in Doom of Valyria along with their dragons.
They revealed themselves to the world later, and made gifts to the remaining dragon lords for them to not invade Bravos.
Also, they will gain nothing from conquering Bravos than keeping it alive for it's gold and resources. Bravos's Iron Bank make lot of allies.

I think Braavos caused the Doom of Valyria. The dragon lords were about to break their promise with Braavos, so the Iron Bank paid the Faceless Men to detonate the mines beneath the peninsula.
I think the world of ice and fire mentioned the possibility of the first faceless man killing the sorcerers who were containing the 14 flames

I agree that braavos was behind it I think the slave conspiracy that originally freed the original braavosi sacrificed themselves to tamper with the fourteen flames mines on the day of the doom

RR Martin lifted the idea for Braavos straight out of the Republic of Venice. Even the idea of the arsenal which could build one ship a day came from Venice.

Braavos where do they get their foods, they should be south of essos or mid essos. They should also own a large lands and farming because Vencia did owned a good farm and lands aka real life Braavos.
They own part of the Andal coast and their territory also extends inland
They dont need much of it. The city seems so small by both this painting as from the show that no more than 15.000 people would fit in there.
@@Cecil_Augus in medieval standard or 14th century that no small number. Oldtown has hundreds thousands of citizens that is equivalent to modern city of millions of citizens. Kings landing has half a million that is equivalent of a modern city with 8 or 5 millions people living there. London around 1300 population was like less or more then 80 000

Slavers Bay/Essos is based on the Italian city states of the 15th & 16th century. Braavos clearly takes huge inspiration from Venice but with a few influences from elsewhere thrown in

Rhollor isn't supposed to be in the house of black and white. That's a lie from D&D. Rhollor already has a temple. The books mention many gods in the house of black and white e.g the stranger(not the seven, its the stranger) but gods like Rhollor do not exist in the house of black and white.

Braavos might be the only city in Essos where living was somewhat without risk.
So glad I found this video. Braavos always seemed to be worthy of its own show. So many cool aspects to it linked in Mediterranean history. Spanish style fencers, a colossus at it's entrance like ancient Greek Rhodes & purple dye like that of the Phoenicians 😍

Sahil Singh the main line of books don’t give too much background on non-Westerosi areas. Definitely more than the show, but more limited. A World of Ice and Fire is the main source for this information.
