    I would definitely look at imperial brands and British tobacco, both good strong quarterly payer's.

      Thanks for the suggestions! Personally I stay away from tobacco stocks for personal reasons but yes they are strong all-weather dividend stocks given the nature of their business.

      I would not touch tobacco stocks on moral grounds.

      I also had reservations but then when i looked into them I found they also produced products to help stop smoking and the dangers are very well known and as its a personal choice to smoke or not its also a personal choice to invest or not and each to there own@@whatareyousaying6290

      It would have been a great entry point at its low of £2 per share. After they came out and confirmed they were not affected by the LDI fiasco I purchased more shares 👍

    FTSE100 is a good index fund to hold imo as well because the yield is quite decent relative to the lower level of risk in owning the whole lot.

    • @WiseWealth
      @WiseWealth  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s one of the better index funds out there for dividend yield, however total return has underperformed other markets like the US.

      @@WiseWealth Yep. My only hesitation with S&P is that I think a lot of the tech stocks that drive the price are massively overvalued. I own both though.

    with stock picking,its all about buying at the right price. as of sept 2023 the only one that looks like a buy is LGEN

    • @WiseWealth
      @WiseWealth  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're right, timing is key for future returns. I think if you hold great stocks with a long-term time horizon it matters less and less. I agree I think LGEN is offering a fantastic opportunity at this price. Thanks for watching.

    I have to admit, I've got shares in nearly 20 companies, including all you mentioned. Dividends of £17ish the last few months. I love it! But..... I don't understand exactly what "Dividend Yield" means. To keep it simple, if I have 100 shares in a company, at £100 and they pay 5% Dividend yield quarterly.... does that mean I'll get £5 Dividends per year, divided by four payments of £1.25? Or is it 5% of the price of a share? Great video, well laid out and informative! ❤❤❤❤❤

    • @WiseWealth
      @WiseWealth  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, you would get £5 each year in dividends if you invested £100 and the stock yielded 5%. Some companies pay quarterly, many in the UK pay bi-annually as well, so you may receive an 'interim' and 'final' dividend payment, with the weighting towards the final payment of the year. Thanks!

      @@ryan-uf9er Monthly payments are not so common in the UK, but there are many real estate investment trusts in the US that pay monthly dividends.

    Would you buy these stocks inside an ISA or with a general trading account? Pros and Cons would help. I am registered with Interactive Investor but is yet to start funding the account.

    • @WiseWealth
      @WiseWealth  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Everyone gets an annual allowance to invest into an ISA, which is not subject to tax. Personally I would take advantage of that but I would always recommend speaking to a financial advisor.

    I wouldn’t say Unilever is recession proof - people wanting to save money to buy supermarket brand tea bags and deodorant rather than expensive brands

    • @WiseWealth
      @WiseWealth  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a fair point, but I think there are some products that have a degree of brand loyalty that keeps people from buying the supermarket brands if they can help it. I think relative to other companies Unilever is one of those that does fairly well in recessionary times.

      A deal was agreed with CVC Capital Partners which included sub brands such as Lipton, however some of the regional subsidiaries were excluded as they form part of a joint venture with Pepsico.
