It's very funny to me when an american says "America is very diverse". They don't even know what diversity is. I know NY can be very different from Wyoming but, at the end of the day, they have same fast food restaurants, the speak the same language, etc. That's not diversity. In Spain, you can drive 30 miles and find a totally different culture, with a different language, different traditions, different food, etc.

another thing that has bothered me from many parts of the world is that they talk about the siesta in spain and call us lazy, being one of the largest exporters of fruits and vegetables in the world, working under a scorching sun for hours every day, it is normal that someone tired of so much physical work wants to rest the body and it is normal that most stores close from 3 to 6 or 7 pm because no one in their right mind would go out in 44 degrees and besides that between 2 and 4 pm is lunch time, so everyone at home having lunch with the family or as you can, the hours in Spain are sacred.
Spain is a lot more bigger than Florida. Florida is like 170.000km2 and Spain is 506.000km2. Texas and Spain would be similar in extension and Texas it's the second largest state in USA.
Maybe you don't know, but the Dólar come from spanish dolar (the first money in USA), also the simbol of dólar ($), come from spanish emblem, exactly from Hércules columns.
The first city in USA was spanish.
The USA independence was Thanks to Spain, for the money and army.

@@francoisdaureville323 Wow you pretty much don’t know much of American history or culture. Come to Texas or the southwest, Florida, Alaska or the American virgin islands or other territories. Even Louisiana has remnants of Spanish it in its history. The southwest may have been taken from Mexico but that land held a lot of the Spanish culture and influence that contributed to the United States going forward. Plus prior to that Spanish has had a presence in American formation. Over here in the United States we acknowledge our Spanish heritage. And to say Mexicans are brown shows how little you know. Mexicans are diverse. They are many white, brown, black, yellow Mexicans proud of their Spanish and other euro ancestry even French. Same goes for other Latinos. We may not express it often but if it comes to defending the mother land we will. Ultimately Spain did influence the United States culturally a lot more than you know and through their vice royal kingdoms. Unlike the Brit’s and French and Dutch Spain did not have colonies only viceroyal kingdoms. There’s a difference.
If we Spaniards help you become independent, if it were not for Spain, the United States would not exist if it were a British colony, we raised Los Angeles, San Francisco, Florida,new madrid etc... so that later you would betray the Spanish empire at that time

today is the day of Andalusia, as a Latin American (Chilean specifically) I am proud of my Andalusian ancestry, I also have ancestry from the north of Spain, they have an interesting channel, I don't know if they have seen the episode of my country, it is old and more was missing information but still very good.
They always say we had colonies, but in fact they were vicekingdoms or virreinatos, meaning they were an extension of the main land and all people were subjects or citizens of the crown. Same laws and same rights and obligations. Colonies are something different, and only protestant north european kingdoms had them

Its also interesting because most Americans are surprised to see dark skin spaniards not knowing the history of mediterranean countries. Whiteness is a larger category than it used to be in the colonial times. Spaniards and Italians were not considered white at one point in America. Nowadays even North Africans and middle eastern people are considered white on the census. Latin Americans tend to get excluded however.

Spanish colonialism was nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Look around all of south America now and you will see independant countries with their NATIVE populations intact, you can't say the same about North America however. Not many comanches walking around these days.....

The "autonomous" regions arent autonomous as they have the same rules and answer directly to the president of Spain. The only thing they do autonomously is manage their subventions, leading to one of the most cases of corruption in the world and enhancing regional nationalism. Moreover they dont answer to cultural and historical facts as the borders were set artifitialy in 1978 and are not a consequence of cultural regions but of administrative "enhances".
