I like your videos but when you play music with actual words in the background the same time and volume level you are talking it's difficult to understand. Especially for those who are sensory sensitive. But I do enjoy them! Thank you!
Right? I’m re watching show weird because I have bad acids reflex and it’s making me so happy I didn’t know bees were animals lmao I thought they were bugs this whole time . I’m sitting here introverting and learning a lot from a 90’s kids show. Love old school Disney now it’s just full of nonsense
I remember always saying I couldn't wait to grow up so I could stay up and watch all these great 90s shows. I loved them so much but man I regret saying that "I wanna grow up" shit lmao.
Hi! This is Kathie from The So Weird Podcast. What an amazing, well-edited video! You managed to talk about all the essential information from the show in less than 30 minutes, what a feat! I think my favorite part was the use of old interviews and commercials. This is the video to point to when people ask "What is So Weird about and why is it special?"
KathieSeesPhotos Thanks so much, Kathie! It was actually REALLY hard to say everything I wanted to say about the show in under 30 minutes. I actually had to edit down my original narration for this episode to make sure the video wasn’t too long! 😂 I love this show so much, and I’m relieved that other So Weird fans are enjoying my little video! 😊
@@chevyimpala67winchester34 Same!!! Do you think alot of people don't remember this show? I have a couple friends that like Disney and I asked if they remember a show a called So Weird and they had no idea what I was talking about
@@nealsmall9316 it's a shamed some don't remember it. I think most move on caused it's old classic show. Hopefully you can show your friend this show soon. But I always had special place for this show in my heart ❤️ thank God you can rewatch it on Disney plus!
Nice job! I was a story analyst for Disney Channel at the time and wrote the "Vampire" episode (S2, E22). I thought you might be interested to know that, if I recall correctly, the show was originally titled "Too Weird" when it was in development. I think I even had a VHS of the pilot with that title on it.
Oh wow! That’s amazing! Vampire is one of my favorite episodes! That must’ve been an exciting time to work at Disney Channel. So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching!
@@BehindTheMagic Thanks! Glad you liked Vampire. I stumbled upon the So Weird podcast a while back and learned they didn't care for it, but it's got a pretty high IMDb rating, and I've come across several fans over the years. I was just a writer for hire, of course and had to work within the parameters set by the producers, but I had a great story editor (Kevin Murphy, who went on to Desperate Housewives, Caprica, Reefer Madness, etc.) and a lot of fun doing the various drafts. They let me name the girl vampires after my mom and niece, so that was nice. Great to see that people still care about the show, and I hope its Disney+ availability is exposing it to a new audience too.
A lot of the episodes didn't make sense in terms of plot. It's better than the show on Disney Channel now. It couldn't exceed 65 episodes. Only 2 of the cast member were in all 65 episodes.
I finally looked it up everyone remembers are you afraid of the dark but no one remembers this show and I started to think it was one of those Berenstein bears type of things and maybe it didn’t happen like this Shazam movie and it was a Mandela effect thank God it wasn’t
Glad to know after so many years that I wasn't the only one disappointed with season 3. The show changed so much once Fiona left. Never felt the same. Fiona sought out the paranormal while Annie just stumbles into it from week to week.
Oh, there are MANY who didn’t like the third season. As a kid, I didn’t notice the change in tone as much. But as an adult? It’s jarring. And I totally agree with your Fiona VS Annie comparison. Poor Alexz Johnson. She didn’t have very much to work with.
I have to agree. As a kid, I watched season 3, but didn’t notice it wasn’t as good after Fi left. Years later, I’m rewatching it on Disney plus, and it doesn’t compare to seasons 1 and 2. I really wish it would’ve been allowed to go darker.
I agree. It actually seems like this was the moment when Disney started to make their stars do both acting and singing. Annie was OK and some of the songs are pretty catchy, but the whole singing angle seemed to make it more "family friendly" rather than get darker, like you would expect a series like this to progress to.
Hey Behind The Ears, Jimmie from The So Weird Podcast here! I saw this video the day you released it and I thought I had left a comment, now realizing I hadn't! DUDE! I've watched this like 6 or 7 times already! The first time, I wailed! Like literally, sobbing with tears flowing down my face. This show has changed my life (as you may know lol if you listen to the podcast)... you touched on EVERYTHING pretty much and it was amazing to see everything So Weird so intelligently expressed and explained like that! To have been a fan since literally day one when So Weird starting airing, 20 something years later... it's such a gem, such a reward to bask in other fans appreciation and love for this magnificent, heartwarming, human, and very nostalgic show! Thanks for not missing anything! I love it!! I hope you decide to touch on So Weird more in the future! I love your love!! -Jimmie
I used to watch this every night at 12:00 midnight in summer 2002 never missed a night. Randomly thought of it couldnt remember the name and found this. Crazy brings back old times. Especially my grandfather died in august 2002 and he lived with me at that time. It always stuck with me.
Ok I just have to say, i remember this show as a kid and my sister liking and talking about it. but I never paid attention to it because i didn't get it. But years later now in my late 20s I rewatched it on Disney + and I have to tell you its one of the most interesting and lowkey the greatest show I've ever watched. Hands down. They don't make shows like this anymore, and just has that charm to it. I could sort of see why they might've called it a lil too dark for Disney, but this show is woke in so many ways. I absolutely love it.
@@iRocky_ It was woke af. The main character is a loud and assertive young lady who bravely faces the supernatural. Her mother is a single-mother career woman, her whole family adapts to her career. And the show often addresses Fi's Irish roots. As well as generational trauma between immigrant parents and American-born children in Fi's Irish grandfather and her mother. Guess someone wasn't paying attention.
I watch this show as a kid! It was always one of my favorites, I kept waiting and watching for it. (Dvd anything!)I now have a kid myself and I am sharing So Weird with him on Disney plus. I’m so glad to see again and to be able to share it with my son!
in an interview on the So Weird Podcast, the executive producer explains they were fired because they took the show too dark for Disney's liking, and what was aired was rewritten. He also explains they were not allowed to shoot an episode they wrote for season 2 because of subject matter. and the actress playing Fiona quit the show so the next producers had no choice of writing her out
“ there are many people who never forgot about the the series” Meeeee I talk about this show all the damn time because Disney just acted like it never happened and I’m like wtf I know I’m not crazy this was my fav freakin showwww I loved it!!!! And I was so heartbroken when the show ended and to not ever find it again… I’m so glad that you made this video it with me no I’m not the only one who cared about the show. Also, I’m literally going to get Disney+ now just to watch it. I didn’t know that they had it on there. That’s the only reason I am going to get Disney+ because nothing else really interest me but if they have this on it, I’m gonna get it because this show was top-tier. I even learned the theme song to the show I loved it.
Before disney plus I FOUGHT TO FIND IT, i never under stood how people don't just ignore the normal route and go after something they think is lost, like.. google people! lol I found the show way back in 2009 , they even sold DVD'S of it on ebay, only one person truly had the full package, but i didn't need to buy it , Disney didn't have it available so we just typed in watch so weird season 1 episode 1 etc online and boom websites had it uploaded, it wasn't hard as long as you knew the name and just kept looking if you coudnt' find it and tried other search engines like bing etc. wasn't hard at all, it was so exciting to watch it again! Especially when no one else could!
I was around 6 years old when So Weird was airing. I remember them playing it late at night when I was supposed to be asleep. Truly nostalgic looking back
The comment about being for the whole family is so funny - my parents would watch it with me, even my mom who didn't like "scary stuff". I was watching it at my grandparents one time, and my grandfather sat down to watch it, even asking if that was Mackenzie Philips on TV as the mom.
@@BehindTheMagic finished it..as a finale for a season 3 it's ok.. as a series it's bad. So Weird Season 4.. Fi, an adult, is a full-blown reporter uncovering new paranormal information in a world when paranormal is normal and everyone knows.
@@badbunny9116 Do you think So Weird wasn't a Popular show on Disney? I asked people about the show a couple years ago and they were like I don't remember the show
@@nealsmall9316 it was very popular in the sense of community not by viewers. Let’s say that what happened was that the show lost its viewers with season 3. After season 2, which supplied a conclusion to the whole story, the last season came out with a lighter tone and people just wasn’t interested in watching the show anymore. Mind, most of the fans at the time of the air were people much older then anticipated, as usual. That’s why shows struggle. I remember watching an episode on New Year’s Day, and thought it was new, we didn’t see the ball fall and my parents got angry.
Absolutely fantastic! I had goosebumps (not the show) at several points. I love how you used the soundtrack under the video, the way you touched on key elements (both behind the scenes and what happened in the show), and your use of archival footage. It was so much fun to watch, and I definitely will again!
I am not the biggest fan of season 3 either, but I do wonder why Cara left the show when it was in its prime? I don't think she has done anything noteworthy since then. Hopefully she didn't have a bad experience on the show that forced her to leave. Anyway, I'm rambling, but thank you for this wonderfully nostalgic video!
Maybe she wanted to take a break from acting. Acting can be a lot of work and requires a lot of time. She was still a teenager, so maybe she wanted to finish school and pursue other things.
@@GenerationNextNextNext the weird thing though (no pun intended) was she went dark from ALL SOCIAL MEDIA, you coudn't find her ANYWHERE, not up until 2019 and maybe even now unless she has a burner account, I haven't checked since 2019
I was obsessed with this show (and Erik von Detton!) when I was younger, and I recently started watching it on Disney+ with my husband. It’s fun to rewatch it from the point of view of an adult. And I can connect with the characters more, because my dad was killed by a drunk driver in June of 2011.
"Rebecca" is just so sad. 😭 "The Rocket" is one of my favorites because it involves time travel and Clue, Fi & Jack were all important in the episode and Molly was still there.
All of the shows mentioned were definitely my introduction to the world of horror - and it's a passion that has persisted (I'm 30 now and still a lover of all things horror) ❤️ Also -- the theme song to So Weird still totally SLAPS 😍
That’s so awesome! And YES, who could forget that iconic theme song?? I feel that even people who don’t remember the show somehow remember the theme song!
I was rewatching So Weird on disney + and i came to youtube to see if there was any cast interviews and your video popped up and I am so glad I watched! Awesome videos btw. NEW SUBSCRIBER
I could never forget this show. It came out when I was 7 and I would watch it religiously. I discovered it at a time when I was still trying to come to terms with death and dying as I had lost my grandmother to cancer. It was a really unique thing to have Disney tell me that there were others out there that knew what I was feeling at the time.
This is one of my favorite Disney shows, and I'm SO happy it's on Disney+ now! Although I'm kind of in the minority. I LOVED season 3! I liked the lighter tone, and Annie's character was awesome. But I also would've loved to have seen what would've happened if Fi stayed.
Sometimes it is good to have a change with shows. I didn't hate Annie, but it blew my mind that the main character left. It's like could you imagine the Disney executives what was going through their minds because it's a big gamble to lose the star, especially when a show is based on Fi's experiences? I don't think it was Alexz Johnson's fault that fans might've not been receptive to season 3. She seemed like a nice girl. I can understand why possible Cara Delizia left because I know that sometimes when you feel it's done, then it's done. Alexz Johnson should've gotten her show because her energy and portrayal wasnt right for so weird. It would be better to have a Hannah Montana type show for her.
@@violentofwakes11 Disney's mistake was firing the original creators, they talked about it with regular low sub count youtubers, you can find the interviews on things like "the so weird podcast" etc. If the original creators were allowed to keep going, they could have made it work!
I loved watching So Weird back in the day. It was back when Disney was going through an edgy stage. When I found out the original season 3 was going to be a lot more darker and scarier I got mad. They went with a lighter tone because they thought the third season would’ve been too dark for kids and they probably thought the parents would complain. The third season would’ve been the final one. Back then Disney only allowed a limited number of seasons to each show which was only three seasons. That explains why they didn’t mind jumping the shark. The reason they brought in the Annie character was the actress who played Fi left the show and the head writers also left after Disney told them they didn’t like the darker and scarier tone.
Emily from The So Weird Podcast/Rockerbaby on the forum. This video is wonderful! Thank you for taking all of the stuff fans have found out about the show over the years and compiling it into this video. I've never seen that footage of Patrick Levis in Big! :) I agree with Kathie that this video is a perfect reference for people who don't know what we're talking about when we mention the show.
emxemxem Thank you so much, Emily! Fun Fact: I did BIG: THE MUSICAL in high school, and my name is also Patrick! 😂 So glad you all enjoyed it! Love the podcast!
I remember watching this show along with Black Holsey high , foreign exchange and of course goosebumps and Are you afraid of the dark? , still an horror junkie
I met Mackenzie Phillips and Henry Winkler on the same day. This show was my childhood, and they were genuinely the sweetest celebrities! I couldnt afford to pay for Henry Winkler but he still talked to me while I waited for my nieces and brother. Mackenzie gave us a discount because we had pictures she didn't, and an even bigger discount when my niece embarrassingly commented something like "we're not made of money". I came home and read her autobiography in three days. Some episodes freaked me out badly when I was a kid, but then hearing about her real life I was way more freaked out.
I love and grew up with all of these shows! I still watch So weird! Of course once Fi leaves the series kind of loses my interest.Thank you for making these awesomely nostalgic videos!
What a fantastic retrospective!! I'm pretty sure I only watched this show during that time period where the show was in rerun, but it was fun staying up after midnight watching the spooky and emotional Fi episodes, and then relaxing with the lighter Annie episodes in the afternoon. We all wanted a Fi season 3 of course! Maybe in a different form someday.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, I’d be totally down for a reboot of the show, as long as it kept the emotional feel of the original AND gave us the season three we all wanted!
Excellent video. It literally gave me goosebumps. So Weird is my favorite childhood series, and is in large part, responsible for my tv tastes as an adult. I still love a good supernatural series, with tight knit characters and compelling drama. So Weird had it all!! It is bittersweet revisiting the series when you think about everything it could have been if Cara hadn’t left, but I just try to remember everything it gave us. Two seasons of the best television ever aired on Disney channel. I’m just glad I was alive in the 90’s to experience it first-hand. Again, truly phenomenal video!
You should definitely watch “Secrets of Sulphur Springs”, it’s a current Disney Channel show that just wrapped it’s 2nd season. It’s a mystery drama series that’s often compared to So Weird! It’s about these two kids who find a portal inside a haunted hotel and it travels them through time. There’s also a Season 3 coming too 😉
I miss watching So Weird very much, because it gave me 💡s about believing in supernatural theories. It also gave me the facts about paranormal stuff that doesn't exist in reality. 😢
Very well done indeed! I love this show and one of the nice things about this video aside from it being very well edited is that I learned some new things about the show I didn't know before. Thank you for putting this altogether!
AMAZING video! You did such a good job of showing what makes this show so awesome, tying the songs into the clips, and talking about how emotional and realistic it was apart from the paranormal stuff. "After a fantastic two-season run, So Weird was over......... aaaaat least that's what probably should have happened." LOL! That was hilarious and I couldn't agree more! Also, big thank you to Lee Gaither for suggesting the pilot should be darker. Otherwise we might have had three whole seasons of what we got in season 3!
Amazing job!The only thing I would add is the Earth 101 Thanksgiving episode where it was promoted as an episode of the gang going to visit Fi and all we got was a stand-in and voiceover at the every end. 9 year old me cried so much that we didn't really get to see Fi again. And where did you get the decent quality behind the scenes footage???
poufsouffledoodle Thanks so much! Ooohh, that episode annoyed me too! I don’t remember watching it as a kid, but I can just imagine how disappointed kids were back when it first aired! And all of the behind the scenes footage comes from old Disney Channel commercials I was able to find on TH-cam! 😊
Yeah I have to agree about Earth 101. What a letdown!!! :( I remember the So Weird Podcast talking about this episode how Aliens were built up as this great force. Only for this episode to air and just chuck it out the window. The whole thing with Fi coming back was probably a ploy to put into the ad just to get more viewers to watch the show again. Really shows how much the So Weird really couldn't work without her.
I didn’t have this show as a kid but Strange Days at Blake Holsey High and Are you afraid of the dark, Goosebumps was a good one I watched as a kid. So glad that I’m able to watch So Weird now on Disney +
Now Here's One I've been looking forward to!! :D Another Great video! The amount of work you put into it really shows and it amazing how much you've covered on the show's history. I can tell your enthusiasm drops a bit when you started talking about the third season, Haha. :D Going by what you said. So Weird aired during a transition period of eras for Disney Channel from the early years of Zoog and Famous Jett Jackson to Hanna Montana and Even Stevens. Basically the turn of the century. Had a quick look, and it seemed shows like Are you Afraid of the Dark and Goosebumps pretty much wrapped up towards the end of the 90's. So maybe dark shows were out and it seems So Weird may have been a bit late to that party. Hence why like you said the third season changed so dramatically. At Disney has started to change their line up a bit more with Shows like Andi Mack for example. It seemed to be the first Drama show Disney has done since So Weird. Dealing with family issue and what not with fantastic actors and writing. And Gravity Falls has been a fantastic resurrection of the supernatural on Disney. Even though it's animated. The creator did the right thing by going all out and wrapping up before any outside interference can happen. Played it safe hence why the show is soo satisfying to watch. At least So Weird up on Disney Plus now so that's something to take away from all of this. Again, Awesome video and looking forward to what you make up next. ;)
So glad you enjoyed it, JT! Yeah, it was kinda hard for me to talk about season 3 objectively. I think it’s pretty obvious in that section that when I say “the fans were disappointed” I’m really saying “I was disappointed.” 😂 And I intended to mention Gravity Falls in this video, but it was getting a bit long, so I had to leave it out. Let me know if you have any suggestions for a future video! 😊
I don't blame you for being disappointed. I tried to give the third season a chance when I first watched it. Started out OK but by the time I got to the halfway point, I was like "yeah this is weak". :( Especially episodes like Grave Mistake, what started off as a potential ghost murderer turned out to be a equivalent of a slightly annoying graffiti artist. That's cool you wanted to mention going Gravity Falls but I understand about keeping the time limit. As for suggestions for future videos, How about Herbie the Love Bug Franchise? There's like 5 films, 1 TV movie and a mini TV show. A Character that can be really underated. Hope this helps. :)
Wow! I had no knowledge about this show, seeing how I didn't grow up with it but it seems interesting! I love it when a show has respect for it's viewers. :) I also love the songs especially Rebecca! This has been my favorite video of yours! 😊💖
Thank you sir, finally someone talk about this show! I love this show! I remember watching this as a kid. I had no clue they had redo the episode of banshee that Fi was willing sacrifice her life for her grandfather. Then again that's Fi' for you. Now it make me wonder, how would it play out if they did stick to the original episode? But I love it either way. Ahh sweet memories! I always feel like after Fin left the show it should ended I didn't care for Annie nothing personal she's didn't rub me the right way. I always thought season 3 was mistake but I know they try their best in season 3 in So weird but it just didn't work out for those who love Fi. Kinda wish Season 2 Fi did get say goodbye to her family now... if Fi did stick around for season 3 Fi going to hell would been the best show ever to rescue her father! Oh man wished we could seen it. We need So weird zoom reunion 😍
It really annoys me that Disney wasn't big on throwing reruns once a show ended in the early 2000s. I probably started watching Disney around late 2002 and can bearly remember this show. But seriously if Disney had given us more reruns more people would know shows that where aired in the late 90s. This also happend with Lizzie mcguire which was my favorite show they probably stopped rerunning the show like a year after it ended so the newer gen never knew about it. Unlike Nick which actually did reruns of many of there shows which Is the reason many weren't forgotten.
AGREED. I kinda wish Disney Channel would do a “Nick-At-Night” style programming block that played shows from this era. Most of their primary audience would be in bed by that point, so why not play some stuff for us older people? They used to have a block called “Vault Disney” that played shows and movies from the 50s and 60s. They could bring that back and add shows like this to the mix! I’d definitely watch!
Disney Channel literally took off reruns of Sydney to the Max and Gabby Duran about 2 days after their series finales aired. I hate how Jessie keeps hogging the reruns, they should DEFINITELY do a late-night rerun block or something with older shows and shows that recently ended.
This show was one of my top favorites as a kid. When I saw it available to watch on disney+ I was thrilled! It was the original reason that I subscribed in the first place! For me as a child, it was an eye opener to the paranormal and made me realize that there is more out there. It brings back so much nostalgia... Thanks for posting this video!
I’m from Mexico and watched this show in FoxKids Latinoamerica, I never thought it was from Disney. Unfortunately I never saw the final but when I saw it on DIsney Plus I hit the play button.
Disney+ just arrived to latin america, when i saw So weird on the catalogue i was so happy!!! i was really little when it aired, so i had forgotten its name, but still could remember the plot of some chapters, that's how good it was. thanks for the video, it was amazing
What an amazing video essay about So Weird 👏👏. I'm from Brazil and I used to watch it on Fox Kids/Jetix, so it was surprising for me to know it was a Disney show. I feel bad that Disney lost the ability to take risks, once it went for a more kid friendly path, the shows didn't age well, unfortunately. Can't wait to binge watch So Weird on Disney+
I remember watching this show as it was airing. I vaguely recall a commercial for the show that for some reason I would be creeped out by. I remember the commercial singing wheels on the bus in a creepy tone and for some reason I can't find it anymore.
@@BehindTheMagic It's not impossible, but I was never really scared of are you afraid of the dark or goosebumps back in the day. I do recall the panther that would show up in the show being in the commercial.
I think that part of the reason DeLizia wanted to do leave to do other things because Disney was pushing for a lighter Season 3. I don't think she wouldn't have left if it had kept to the original ideas. I always respected her for choosing to leave if the show went a different direction as it did because apparently Disney didn't like Dark at the time. I believe when producers were switched was her final decision
I loved this series! Season 1 was amazing, season 2 was amazing, and season 3 was amazing too. I wish Fi didn't leave in season 3 though I loved Annie cause she was hella awesome in the series. I just wanted Fi to stay so that she and Annie could be best friends and help each other with the supernaturals together. Annie would have helped Fi rescue her dad and Jack would have helped them too. I would love a season 4 where Fi, Annie, Jack, Molly, Clu, Irene, Ned, and Carey returns and with Jack as the knight in shining armor helping Fi rescue her dad and Annie helping them out. I just want the three of them being major roles and have Rebecca show up again to tell Molly the truth.
OMG, you don't know how hard it was for me to remember what this show was called. the snapshot EP was one of the ones stuck in my head and it always leads me back to are you afraid of the dark ep of capture souls. freaking felt like i was stuck in a mandala effect and i know i wasnt the only one love this show
I remember this show, it was awesome! The most memorable episodes were when fi turns into a dog and tries to tell her brother by trying to type on a laptop with her paws, the voodoo doll episode and the scariest one - the one where the newer actress for Fi turned into an old woman. That was terrifying as a child!
I gotta watch that last one now! I’ve been rewatching on Disney plus and it’s way different than I remembered. I honestly only remember the nightmare episode and I always thought that was the scariest
Hello! I'm from Brazil and here So Weird aired as "Sinistro" in a channel called SBT. I guess it went on 2003/2004 Sunday mornings. I was very excited to see it is available on Disney+. I'm s writer and was researching a few pop culture icons from late 90s for a story, and this show certainly gives me memories. Congratulations for your video. 😁
I love so weird it’s a great show. Probably one of disney channel most underrated but darkest Disney channel shows ever made. But I only love the first two seasons, but the third and final season was lackluster it lost its charm from there.
The soundtrack was a banger I love it Every time I listen to the soundtrack I get a lot of Silent hill vibes from the soundtrack a lot It was the major banger every time I listen to it when I wake up 😂 lol
I don’t know if you do requests but I was wondering if you could do an episode on H2O Just Add Water because I was always interested in where the idea for that show came from and just why it’s held up so well
I've only ever watched 3 full episodes of this, and apparently I missed out. I only started watching after I realized the brother from the DCOM "Miracle in Lane 2" was Patrick Levis, and he was in it.
I re-watched a few eps across all three seasons recently on Disney plus. It was worth it! I hadn't seen full eps since either their original air or syndication shortly thereafter - so basically in 20 years. The only episode I remember from growing up was "nightmares" from season 2. Two things that really stuck out to me in a good way that I didn't remember at all. One is the role of music in the show. Mackenzie Phillips sings several songs on the show (basically an album's worth) and the actress who replaces cara in season 3 also contributes some. Then there are contributions and several script references to artists of the time. Notably SHEDaisy. And Jack has a damien jurado poster in his room in one scene. That is a deep cut! Pretty indie rock reference there, I was impressed. The second is the serialized story telling which gets stronger as the show progresses and ultimately culminates at the end of season 2. On its face the show may appear episodic. Going into a different town every week and dealing with whatever supernatural situation: vampires, banshees, sirens, telepathy, portals etc. But as the 2nd season continues it focuses more on the family and particularly what happens with Fiona's Dad. I am not going to crown it as some Shakespearean feat in story telling, but I was impressed how invested I was in the Fiona's dad plot/subplot. I genuinely wanted to know what happened by the time I got to the middle of season 2.
Any true fan of So Weird would walk through fire and ice to see it again. At the time, people called it a family-friendly "X-Files", though most people now would probably call it a family-friendly "Supernatural."
I guess due to my age the season I remember the most was season 3 but been rewatching recently and the first season has been really good and enjoying the trip down memory lane.
The so weird soundtrack is so lit and haunting...I love it!! So glad we get to enjoy it any time we want. I go back and listen to those songs often. Talking about them with my friends etc. More like a river still gets me teary, the theme song still gets me lit and goosebumps, and another world gets me singing or humming along with it all the time. That question song omg!!! So good!! I didn't know that season 3 was gonna have Fi going to hell to get her dad.....that's haunting and interesting all at the same time. I always thought Rick was just following around the family and protecting them and could only make contact depending on the severity of the interference of the supernatural event that occured to Fi's world. For example....the finale, Rick could only interfere because that spirit literally pushed Fi off the building. I need to rewatch encore and the episode prior to see this theory through but it was always my theory. Love the show, I hope we can keep it alive!!!
Old video but could you make a video about the other shows that didn’t make the jump to Disney+ like In a Heartbeat or the Jersey? I’m so curious on both of them but can’t find much history about them.
Unfortunately there were no actual scripts written for the third season, but Jon Cooksey revealed in an interview what season three would’ve entailed if Cara DeLizia hadn’t left the show! Wish it would’ve happened!
10:47 =WTF is that character's voice & intonation is so dang familiar? Like I heard his voice amongst the animation films I watched before... He's not Austin Powers right?
I did not grow up on the show, but I have been watching it on disney plus and it is amazing! I feel like they should make a reboot. It might be good since so weird is already live action.
You know what would be great? If Disney decided to make a fourth season set where season two left off which was supposed to have the original plot for the third before the original actress moved on, where Fi essentially goes to He- double hockey sticks to save her father’s soul. More amazing alternative rock, genuine scares and a reason to bring this back to the mainstream and give it the true ending and send off it deserved. Just do some recasting and get people who look like the original cast and bingo, you can finally erase the horrible third season that we got! (Personally, I like to pretend that it doesn’t exist)
This is one show I HATE we can never know what could have been on screen at least, Cara even went absent on social media for so long, she really seemed like she was true to her word done with acting, But, Even if disney DOES make a reboot or continuation (most likely a reboot because the executives treat the audience like children and would assume no one knows about the first show to warrant a continuation) But if they did it, they would recast everyone that would not even slightly act like or resemble the look and feel and depth of who the characters were, the irish lore would be Gone, the kids would be actually weird , terrible acting, the music would suck, everything would just be awful when you look at who runs disney right now, PLUS *no pun intended* They hilariously would ONLY be an "issues" show , shoving all kinds of preachy lessons in your face rather than the story, I gaurentee the family would not be Oshanon any more , they probably would be New orleans witch family for the witch story line, The need to change everything instead of holding on to and truly making what made the show good is too much a part of disney and disney would simply take this as an oppurtunity for nostalgia bait , yet weirdly focus on a new audience and ignore us, When the lizzie mcquire reboot got cancelled, they had already filmed a lot of episodes and it was A TRUE CONTINUATION AIMED AT US, THE ADULTS, and disney got rid of it because it was an actual adult coninuation with adult themes.... Disney + has waaay more mature content on its webstite, they make no sense, they also probably wanted to recast lizzie if they had their way, So imagine So weird, But i'd still watch it just to get some more so weird, I LOVE THAT SHOW SO MUCH i'd stick it out no matter how bad they made the show lol, but a show like so weird is so off the beaten path and so long ago and burried by disney unlike raven and lizzie, that if a reboot did happen IT JUST MIGHT be from the OG creator who said he would do it, and regularly talks to the fans to this day, he talks on youtube to channels who have like 12 subscribers , He loved what he did with that show it seems like, MAN WHY DID CARA HAVE TO LEAVE!

This was my absolute favorite show from 10-13 years old. I adored how dark and unique it was. The acting and the storyline were superb.
Fascinating !! We miss it direly
Nickelodeon had “are you afraid of the dark” at the same time this was airing. Man, I loved the 90s. These shows were actually scary/good
They were both the cause of many a nightmare when I was little! 😂 But now I love them!
Werd And goosebumps

Do you think Disney channel will make a Reboot So Weird??
@@nealsmall9316 I hope not. I love the original and hope they keep it that way

@@yancyskancy vampire is one of the best episodes! Great job
A lot of the episodes didn't make sense in terms of plot. It's better than the show on Disney Channel now. It couldn't exceed 65 episodes. Only 2 of the cast member were in all 65 episodes.
omg really
I couldn't remember if this was an actual show I watched as a child or if it was a fever dream. Thank you so much for this ❤
Rebecca Perkins Thank you for watching! So happy to help you rediscover this special show! 😊
Is it weird i felt the same 😩😩 one day the theme song kept playing it my head and when i looked up the lyrics i was like OMG hidden gem
Girl. I felt the same way until I started watching it on Disney +!
I finally looked it up everyone remembers are you afraid of the dark but no one remembers this show and I started to think it was one of those Berenstein bears type of things and maybe it didn’t happen like this Shazam movie and it was a Mandela effect thank God it wasn’t
@@kimwhatmatters4085 i remember loving this show when it came out back then its a shame season 3 was so bad
Yup
Couldn't agree more. There wasn't much of an ongoing story worth pursuing after season 2.
This was the first thing I put on when Disney+ came out
Me too!
Same!
I love this show so much I thought I was the only person who remembered it! Thank you for unlocking a childhood memory the song Rebecca is a classic

JustJimmie This makes me so happy!!! Thank you for your kind words! And I’d definitely be up for making more So Weird videos in the future! 😊
@@BehindTheMagic YES!!
I used to watch this every night at 12:00 midnight in summer 2002 never missed a night. Randomly thought of it couldnt remember the name and found this. Crazy brings back old times. Especially my grandfather died in august 2002 and he lived with me at that time. It always stuck with me.
I used to look forward to going online and looking at the website. So weird will always hold a special place in my heart.
Lindsey Cassella It’s a very special show!
Wow, did they have the actual Fi’s website back then?
Ok I just have to say, i remember this show as a kid and my sister liking and talking about it. but I never paid attention to it because i didn't get it. But years later now in my late 20s I rewatched it on Disney + and I have to tell you its one of the most interesting and lowkey the greatest show I've ever watched. Hands down. They don't make shows like this anymore, and just has that charm to it. I could sort of see why they might've called it a lil too dark for Disney, but this show is woke in so many ways. I absolutely love it.
How in the world is it "woke"? If anything it shows how great shows were before woke garbage. There's nothing woke about it.
@@iRocky_ Wow you got triggered real quick.
It was ahead of its time
@@iRocky_ Just because you like something doesn't mean it isn't "woke," you're just in denial
I watch this show as a kid! It was always one of my favorites, I kept waiting and watching for it. (Dvd anything!)I now have a kid myself and I am sharing So Weird with him on Disney plus. I’m so glad to see again and to be able to share it with my son!
Carissa Ten Eyck That’s so awesome that you’re sharing the show with your son! Hope he’s enjoying it!
Is it still on Disney plus?
in an interview on the So Weird Podcast, the executive producer explains they were fired because they took the show too dark for Disney's liking, and what was aired was rewritten.
It’s on Disney +!!!!!
dopp nett Yup! It was the first thing I watched when it launched!
Behind The Ears watching it now
@@BehindTheMagic finished it..as a finale for a season 3 it's ok.. as a series it's bad. So Weird Season 4.. Fi, an adult, is a full-blown reporter uncovering new paranormal information in a world when paranormal is

I hate when they kill shows like this then never bring them up and I'm really glad I remembered this one. So weird sparked my interest in the arcane.
Absolutely fantastic! I had goosebumps (not the show) at several points. I love how you used the soundtrack under the video, the way you touched on key elements (both behind the scenes and what happened in the show), and your use of archival footage. It was so much fun to watch, and I definitely will again!
Thank you so much! I’m glad it was fun to watch! It was fun to make! 😊
Came back to relive this in it's entirety. Beautiful job again! Always "Keep The Faith and Never Give Up on So Weird!"
Awwww, thanks so much, Jimmie! So glad you enjoyed it enough to watch it again! Keep the Faith!
It seems she wanted to see what other work's she could do, these days sadly she's even retired
Obsessed is the word
"Rebecca" is just so sad. 😭
"The Rocket" is one of my favorites because it involves time travel and Clue, Fi & Jack were all important in the episode and Molly was still there.
I love those episodes too!
All of the shows mentioned were definitely my introduction to the world of horror - and it's a passion that has persisted (I'm 30 now and still a lover of all things horror) ❤️
Also -- the theme song to So Weird still totally SLAPS 😍
That’s so awesome! And YES, who could forget that iconic theme song?? I feel that even people who don’t remember the show somehow remember the theme song!
I was rewatching So Weird on disney + and i came to youtube to see if there was any cast interviews and your video popped up and I am so glad I watched! Awesome videos btw. NEW SUBSCRIBER
Hooray!!! Thank you so much for subscribing! So glad you liked the video! 😊
When they re aired the show with Annie Thaylynne played by Alex Johnson was awesome and it made me cry

Holistically Holly Thank you for watching! So glad you enjoyed!
Cara Delizia was in 40 episodes of the show. I stopped enjoying after they ended Liv & Maddie.
I hope Disney will give us a reunion someday, whether a TV show or a DCOM. But they would absolutely have to set the tone right
Excellent video.
There’s also a Season 3 coming too 😉
I love Secrets of Sulphur Springs, So Weird, and the Mysterious Benedict Society (even if it's different from the books).
I saw it as a teen with Czech dubbing around 2001, it was a really great show. Songs like the Rock and Rebecca gets to me even today.
Love those songs too! So good!
I miss watching So Weird very much, because it gave me 💡s about believing in supernatural theories. It also gave me the facts about paranormal stuff that doesn't exist in reality. 😢
It definitely appealed to the inner “weirdo” in all of us!
@@BehindTheMagic Is that right? It's such a shame that So Weird cancelled.

This was my favorite show as a kid, wasn't such a fan of the 3rd season. So cool I found this video
This is still in my top 3 favorite shows of all time. It was so good!
I loved this show! It was so mysterious and I thought it was so cool that she had a laptop. I could only use the Internet on the weekends.
I’m so happy you did this. I loved this show and I always wanted to know how it ended. Thank you

The intro with all the show title cards... oof... my nostalgic heart. Edit to add: And also a reminder of the crush I had forgotten about. Awww
I didn’t have this show as a kid but Strange Days at Blake Holsey High and Are you afraid of the dark, Goosebumps was a good one I watched as a kid. So glad that I’m able to watch So Weird now on Disney +
Now Here's One I've been looking forward to!! :D
Another Great video! The amount of work you put into it really shows and it amazing how much you've covered on the show's history. I can tell your enthusiasm drops a bit when you started talking about the third season, Haha. :D
Going by what you said.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! It was truly a one-of-a-kind show. I agree, a SO WEIRD reunion would be incredible!

I’m glad you found it, too! Thanks so much for watching! 😊
Thank you for making this. It has brought back forgotten memories of my childhood.
Hooray! So happy you’ve been able to rediscover it! And thanks for watching the video! Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
It was The X Files for kids. I LIVED FOR IT. I watched the first maybe 2 episodes of season 3 and I was just done.
I remember watching this show as it was airing. I vaguely recall a commercial for the show that for some reason I would be creeped out by. I remember the commercial singing wheels on the bus in a creepy tone and for some reason I can't find it anymore.
Oh interesting! I don’t recall that commercial, but it sounds pretty creepy! Are you sure it wasn’t for “Are You Afraid of The Dark” or another show?
Was great to have this nostalgia today during a hard time. Great voice for the content you're putting out! I'd listen to an audiobook for sure! Thanks
This is an awesome video, thank you so much! I’m a huge fan of So Weird
OMG, you don't know how hard it was for me to remember what this show was called. the snapshot EP was one of the ones stuck in my head and it always leads me back to are you afraid of the dark ep of capture souls.
freaking felt like i was stuck in a mandala effect and i know i wasnt the only one
love this show
I remember this show, it was awesome!
let's go for a remake of the series so weird
I was one of those fans looking for the existence of so weird and its songs as a kid. They put this show under the disney vault frfr
This was epic! I had forgotten about this show. I needed this dose of nostalgia tonight haha
Glad I could provide that nostalgia for you! 😊
I love so weird it’s a great show. Probably one of disney channel most underrated but darkest Disney channel shows ever made. But I only love the first two seasons, but the third and final season was lackluster it lost its charm from there.
Agreed on all points!
Well now’s your chance to catch up! The entire series is on Disney Plus! 😊
I've tried finding videos of people talking about this show a few times over the years I was starting to think it was forgotten
Used to watch this show a lot when I was younger. The troll episode always stuck with me lol
1 of my fav shows, along with goosebumps, and are u afraid of the dark
I got sooo excited when I seen the Disney+ Channel made this TV show available!! I use to watch it as a pre-teen and I was OBSESSED with it!
It’s one of the best reasons to get Disney Plus, in my opinion!
Oh, I'm gonna have to watch now! I was trying to find a place to watch not too long ago!
Thought the Mom looked familiar did a little digging and realized it's Barb from Orange is the new black. Lol.
This video is so freaking well done. PS. XtINa would be on the show?! wow!
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it! And isn’t that crazy?? She would’ve been returning to her Disney Channel roots!
Any true fan of So Weird would walk through fire and ice to see it again.
At the time, people called it a family-friendly "X-Files", though most people now would probably call it a family-friendly "Supernatural."
Disney +
Where can I read the original script for season 3??
Unfortunately there were no actual scripts written for the third season, but Jon Cooksey revealed in an interview what season three would’ve entailed if Cara DeLizia hadn’t left the show! Wish it would’ve happened!
10:47 =WTF is that character's voice & intonation is so dang familiar? Like I heard his voice amongst the animation films I watched before... He's not Austin Powers right?
One of the best shows on TV for us kids in the mid 2000s, togheter with Goosebumps and BlackHole High
nice video man,keep on going!
I did not grow up on the show, but I have been watching it on disney plus and it is amazing! I feel like they should make a reboot. It might be good since so weird is already live action.
I loved this show so much, so weird, thank u annie Elsie for reminding me
You know what would be great?
Fell down a huge nostalgia rabbit hole just binged the first two seasons on Disney+
It was the first thing I watched when I got D+!
my fav episodes.... The halloween one with winkler the irish banshee and the trolls at the bridge
I didn’t know the show came from “Sightings”! I used to love watching that show too!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
In my fuzzy child memories, I definitely thought this girl and the girl from Halloween Town were the same person. (the bangs, I guess?) 😂
