The purple/violet is the actual color for them. Francis might be slightly colourblind? 1 in 12 men is colourblind to some degree after all. His red receptors seem to underperform, leading to perceiving violet as blue (in screens violet is a red/blue mix. There may be some small amounts of green in there not noticed by trichomatic "regular" vision, leading to it appearing blueish/greenish. Possibly put in the violet to help colourblind people easily distinguish the pipe color from blue pipe contents like o2 and h2o)
Cedrath - that was the intent! The old colors were too similar too each other. They also had to hotfix the new insulated color because it was too close to the Oxygen gas color
Hey FJ, here are a few ideas : - Dump all of the exess barbequeue in the emergency food storage maybe ? Might as well not waste it as you said that you don't need the clay - Perhaps it's a good idea to move the pokeshells where you dump polluted dirt and to make a mini electrolyzer setup down where the current pokes and old telescope was, i'm pretty sure with a bit of trickery it can work. This way you could avoid having to waste space on pumps running all the time spread out everywhere, saving the space from the open air electrolyzers and have control over the hydrogen being produced (should you need extra hydrogen for some reason, or just to avoid getting those annoying clouds. I'm pretty sure that it's a 100% win IMO - Maybe dump all of the pdirt on the Pokeshells, it's just free sand for not too much effort :p - Install a mod to supress the notifications on the pedestals, it won't bother you this way Anyways, fantastic episode as always, this mini base challenge sure is a breath of fresh air from the usual ONI experience !
The dupes will: Remove the suit -> Go to the bathroom -> Put on the suit -> Eat -> Remove the suite -> Go to sleep. So, I'm not sure if it's quite efficient. How about killing one or two dupes, you don't need that many. You could make the kitchen to contain chlorine. I'd also recommend putting automation on that grill and a weight plate, so that the dupe doesn't spend unnecessary time cooking unnecessary bbq. In my usual setups, I auto-sweep the bbq directly near their mess tables, on top of that weight plate. If you want morale, I'd rather suggest sticking with a jukebox (dance thing) and a play thing and go crazy with the negative morale across the map, to be more efficient on space.
That's an astoundingly compact core base. One loose end though: you should probably make sure it doesn't cause too many problems if someone has an accident in their suit. Right now it would kind of go everywhere.
It seems Klei was fiddling with the insulated pipe colors, they were light blue/aqua for a couple days. Its nice to see that they are hot fixing some stuff rather than waiting for big updates to make changes.
For Decor negative hotspots, I usually just throw in a few gold metal tiles - especially when the tile can help occlude negative decor buildings/wires/etc.
Idea: Put the pokeshells with the sieve and eat the rot piles and pdirt, it will require automation for undamaged dupes but, here's a floor plan: Move conveyor chute up one tile, sieve goes all the way to the left. Put vertical sweeper next to it, replace airflow tile below with deodorizer. Next row put vertical Conv.Loader (for shells) and Storage bin, move airflow tile down one. Next row put a door. Next put Liquid tank. Put the shell chute above the kiln. It will cost one thimble reed but you can remove the outer door next to the kiln and put it there instead. Critter dop-off is not really necessary at this point, so use it temporarily to move the pokeshells in place then dump in the eggs using the excess-food conveyor loader. Excellent space compression so far, looking forward to mini sour gas boiler.
I mean if you would want things really compact you could always rip up the bedchambers and the toilets and just like install a singel pump to deal with the problem instead.but yeah this is much more elegant much less everything is a toilet. For the avaliable space how about a nice windtunnel and carbonated fountain or a huge ass lamp for your dupes to sunbath under. you know for in their free time.
@@ripmorld9909 My programming experience is fairly limited, but in java you can use long instead of integer to allow much higher values. So if you tell the truth (and i don't wanna doubt you) that woud let me think that the maximum integer value of 2.147.483.647 is what the devs took as the limit. Sure, they may not go for long for performance sake, but i never understood why infinite storage works in the first place. infinite gas mechanics just don't make sense and with infinite liquid they coud just make the little bit of gas disappear at a certain amount of liquid pressure. It doesn't strike me as a difficult thing to remove and with a map like this i woudn't feel bad about using it (just maybe keep an eye on the pressure )
Thanks for using my idea. Also, can I request that you make the episode into a sort of micro-sour-gas-boiler tutorial episode? It would be helpful for those of us who don't have the time or resources to set up a full-size or half-size boiler.
it may be a good idea to put an extra layer of insulated tile or bunker tile inside the silo on the wall beside the bed rooms Might not be bad idea all the way down that wall of the silo TBH since you are also storing food there). One bad timing on a meteor hitting it or just heat leech over time would spell disaster.
Could you possibly incorporate Longhair Slicksters into your baby base? I achieved over 1000 decor from them (50 decor per slickster). They consume Oxygen so you'll have to work with that, but it's a fun little project.
Re: outro. I think you could replace the bottom tile of the ladder with another airflow tile and have your dupes do a double pull-up to get into the bedroom - to go with their cardio, of course. Then replace the other two ladder tiles with another pedestal to prop up the decor of the last bed. Not sure how badly a couple of diamond tiles on that end would interfere with airflow, though. Love your stuff man!
Thoughts about moving the pokeshells to be around the water sieve? If you automate the sand delivery to the sieve, it'll take care of the polluted dirt and no need to worry about attacks.
Maybe you should try to upgrade the ladders to plastic and you have room for a single fire pole. Also maybe you can get rid of the hamster wheels since you have more than enough power and make a rec room.
Hamster wheels aren't for power. they're to make dupes get higher athletics and to have dupes have something to do since there is a lot of downtime for them now.

With the summer patch making to where I can actually run the game without crashing on my potato pc atm, I didn't realize how *slow* the dupes are, and how much gets edited out. Much appreciated for the content, but I had no clue/didn't pay attention! Haha.
So the question is... are you going to extend your industrial brick all the way across and siphon heat off of the *other* rocket? The oil might make that complicated.
I am assuming that the natural gas boiler will make the natural gas / methane storage system in the top left obsolete? Just think though - you could use a "methane melter / vaporizer" as a way to cool the base!

If you removed the sink and the dupes are not in an atmosuit when they use the bathroom, do they still have gems on them when they get into the atmosuit without washing their hands, or are the germs deleted? The sink might not even be necessary if the gems get removed when they get into the atmosuit. Also, on a previous playthrough, you asked if there was a mod to pause the game when the printing pod is ready, for the purposes of the 100 dupe challenge. There is one available now. Really looking forward to that series!
there is no need for the ladder... if you put another tile they can still jump downd 2 tile to reach the toilet, but you will not get an extra tile to use i think
you could fit a pedestal in that wasted space beside the toilet (you would have to use that open tile beside the gas res for a airflow tile for it to sit on) then glass tiles under the left most bed to help with its decor. plus who dosent like to poop beside beautiful space art

Can you please destroy the water drinking building and put is to rigth side so left beds can get SO MUCH MORE decor. And you didn't even have to make bedroom one block right then you make decors 2 block left. I hope it was helpful and love your videos

8:09 “As it is they’re gonna produce 70 degree oxygen” Didn’t they remove a lot of the minimum output temps of buildings a while back? I believe electrolyzers output gases at the same temp as their input.
They removed set temp, so they wont output oxygen at 70 deg if you input water at 90, but the minimum temperature of outputed oxygen is 75, the water can be anywhere from 0 to 75 it will output 75deg oxygen.
* Stuff like the methane here is something I'd like to see more of in the game. Where bringing back resources from planets actually matters. But in normal maps most things exist in abundance in your colony * The game really needs a smart fridge with the logic from the tanks and battery. So you can fill a fridge and start cooking again when it's low
Just in case that the video of the sour gas boiler hasn't been recorded yet and you want to keep using the hydrogen vent: You can put the hydrogen gas pump and the pressure sensor to the right of the hydrogen vent to save some more space for the boiler.

Voles can't pass through pneumatic doors of any kind, so they are viable even before you have obsidian or steel.
It's safe as long as you do a starvation ranch. If they get fed they can vomit/excrete a tile into a mesh door, making it traversible for them.
0:50 - I forsee no problems with building that tile out of gold. Nope, none whatsoever. 😂👍🏼
In the big open area, you can always build the Monument :) A minibase with two working rocket silos and a monument!
Make a big dupe entertainment system in the spare space!! after all they've done for you it's the least you could do at this point

You could move the water cooler to the other side of the mess hall to give the barracks a bit better decor spread.

you can decontaminate the polluted water first , then sive it and you will no get food poisoning in the polluted dirt, it is basiclly the same thing

The polluted dirt that comes out of the sieve can be shipped to your pokeshells, they'll eat that and transform that to sand, so win-win.

Yeah, just add a manipulator and it will refill the filter with the sand pokeshells produce.
The pokeshells will not keep up with the sand. Dupes will eventually need to come in and deliver more sand, at which point they could get hurt.

You can only do full and empty though, which is pretty useless. It needs a hysteresis. Same reason the "smart" bin is mostly useless
If you don't want hydrogen anymore why not overpressure the vent rather than sending it across the map?
