It's crazy how people try to deal with trauma from their past AND when they try cope the way they cope ends up inflicting more trauma.

I lived in Jackson, ms from 2005-2007 and everything there was great. I went back in 2018 when my grandmother died I couldn't believe my eyes. Everything was either closed or abandoned. It hurt my heart and I'm from new Orleans where things are not just great either but damn... Jackson has completely fell off in dat short amount of time dat I lived there and now in this present day. Everybody I knew there has moved elsewhere. Yeah I'm only 32 but I just didnt expect things to be so bad. It's crazy and I pray for the ppl. I use to love Jack-town!

@@douglaspaterson5269 eastern KY is the absolute poorest region in the country. At least Mississippi is flat, im staying here now. In Appalachia they still live in tin shacks on the mountains and a house in Mississippi with no insulation is gonna feel scorching compared to a tin shack on a holler in ky with the wind whipping and it's 0 degrees in the winter. We lived in the country in northern ky and when it snowed you were stuck. Mississippi might be more poor overall as a state, but hands down Appalachia is the poorest region, a good percent of the people out there can't read. I lived somewhere worse than either of them, before I came here my home was under a bridge in downtown Cincinnati, i love where i am now, and I mean no disrespect to either state, Mississippi and Kentucky are beautiful states and the people would give you the shirt off their backs. In the few years I was homeless in Cincinnati 2 people froze to death on the streets. Its sad how we treat each other. In Cincinnati people blatantly ignore you, they wont even say hi or good morning if you say it to them....they think if they ignore the problem it goes away, it just gets worse.....

There is a lot Obama fail to address the agenda didn't include the homeless, he got the Gay laws past, because they spend the $$$$$$. Mental illness is major and a lot of not just blacks need it. You also want to be sympathetic to peoples plights & situations a lot of people are in there right mind & you choose to put the pipe to your lips/drugs & continue to make bad choices and want people to sympathize with them that's not right either.

You have local politicians that’s put in place to make changes in your city. Elections are just for presidential smh. Who did you all write to about the homeless issues? What laws did you want to see get passed? What did any of you get together and do to fix the problem? Or were you waiting for someone to lead you instead of being a leader for your own people!

My last living two siblings may be homeless. They both get monthly government checks and are on crack really bad. I say maybe because I haven't been to my home town in over two years. Also my cousin told me that I was ganna have to let my brother live with me. I quickly ended the conversation. I refuse to let a drug addict even know where I live, yet live with me.

Drugs is never a victimless crime if it were then there would be no victims .We need to be able to put our drugs and substance abuse into our past and leave it there .The way forward is to live in the now. When you want your life back then take it! Live in the now ,this is important .When you are living in the now you must make everything that you are doing now to move you forward .1 step at a time . OUR CREATOR HAS CREATED US TO BE IN SELF ACTUALIZE R. WE CHOOSE WHAT WE WANT .WE THINK OURSELVES INTO CERTAIN SITUATIONS AND IT BECOMES OUR REALITY .THE THING TO DO IS TO CHANGE OUR THOUGHTS ,THEN COMBINE THOSE THOUGHTS WITH ACTIONS IN THE NOW AND OUR LIVES WILL CHANGE YOU CAN HAVE WHATEVER YOU WANT TO .SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEW! GET YOUR THOUGHTS IN SYNC WITH YOUR ACTIONS . LET NOTHING STOP YOU ,THE PAST IS UNREACHABLE SO STOP LIVING IN IT LIVE IN THE NOW . THOUGHTS + ACTION TO BRING IT ABOUT = WHATEVER LIFE YOU WANT TO LIVE . AS LONG AS YOU HAVE LIFE THEN YOU CAN CHANGE, IT IS NEVER TO LATE. START WHERE YOU ARE !

The more affluent one is the more choices one may have. People born into or live in poverty, regardless of how they got there, have few choices. There but for the grace of God go I.

my take on Alan comment is that if you become footstep followers of Jesus, and prayerfully ask Almighty God for strength, to stay strong and not allow room for the devil to influence your life; work in harmony with your prayers. Adhere to 1corithians 15:33 life for you would turn out much better.

People don’t make money in Mississippi. The education system here is horrible. People give up hope. Not a lot has changed here in Mississippi. Getting away is most people’s hope but harder than you know.

I was wondering are the majority of homeless people in mississippi black? Most of the people that I see on these homeless videos are people of color. Is this a problem that happens mostly to black population? I was watching videos about homeless people in Detroit and most of them use drugs. Their drug habit costs them $200 to $300 per day. Thats around $100,000 per year these homeless people spend on recreational drugs each year. They are HOMELESS BY CHOICE!!! They are making more money than most people with full time jobs and wasting it on drugs instead of a home and car. Its hard to feel sorry for people like that.
