- On May 15, 1970, dozens of Jackson, MS city and state policemen unloaded more than 460 rounds of gunfire into JSU's Alexander Hall after claiming to have seen a sniper in a window on the building's top floor. I hate this story doesnt get the recognition it deserves. Bless the 6 that lost their lives at Kent State but the media never really cover the Jackson State riots
It's troubling to see how little the current administration has learned from past events regarding their treatment of American citizens in protest. Instead of becoming a catalyst in efforts to change not only policy, but more importantly the mindset of the average American in regards to equality, these tragedies are far too often forgotten. Forgetting these events helps the plagues of oppression and ignorance to carry on. We MUST make them remember!!!
this deserves to be remembered as well as does Kent State
It's disturbing, Zay 1775, we are the only two expressing disdane for the lack of knowledge regarding this incident and the men whose lives were so brutally and unjustifiably taken. It so saddends me.
I was in Mrs. Wynn's 3rd grade classroom when Jackson State and Kent State massacres(and Apollo 13 a couple of weeks later)happened. She got the Mrs. Roberts our principal to allow us to keep track of all the events on CBS on the 19 inch B/W TV on the auditorium stage. That was the 1st time I can recall watching a televised program at school. All 3 still stand out in my mind til today.
