    Their most badass and fiercest song - so glad you reacted to it - nobody else does! I don't think Eurythmics are underrated - but this song definitely is!

    I love this side of them, it just shows their versatility. Great duo and Annie is a straight-up badass who was a very positive influence on young ladies during the 80s. I think that in the music world, Dave and Annie are both very well respected.

    Annie is one of the best vocalists of our generation. You should see her sing Under Pressure live with David Bowie at the Freddie tribute concert. Not many people can match Freddie in that song but she did.

    LOVE this song and album. Very underrated. I think the problem is people did not get what she was doing with this song and album. They took it at face value. This is someone in an abusive relationship in a downward spiral. She once said her character took on a split personality and here she is a woman singing as a man as a drag queen. The album is that story.: abused, struggling, free. Worth a listen. You Have Placed a Chill is another stand out.

    I think they were underrated. I know I was the only one of my friends who really liked them, because my friends thot their music was weird like their videos. I still to this day love them, and play their disks in my car all the time. I do love all the songs on this CD. For a change of pace, You have Placed a Chill in My Heart is really beautiful

    Savage was my favorite album by the band. Check out You Have Placed a Chill in my Heart, and Savage. Really a great album from start to finish. I wouldn't say they were underrated, but I think some folks didn't quite get them. They were incredibly talented and kept changing their style.

    You’d love the Annie Lennox + Aretha Franklin duet, “Sisters Are Doing it for Themselves.” Epic banger and once-in-a-lifetime collab by two true divas (despite their mutual personal dislike of each other). Enjoying your channel! Keep it coming!

    Ah man, doing some good ones today. Haven't heard this in about 5 million minutes. I loved this song, and this video, where Annie is like some depraved, psycho Marilyn Monroe. Annie loved playing little characters - both in videos and in the songs, really. Almost a female David Bowie, but in miniature, changing from song to song, rather than from record to record.

  • @Euracaille
    @Euracaille ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don't know this with 100% certainty, but the percussive bass sound that registered so strongly with you is almost certainly the product of the Synclavier that Stewart and percussionist/programmer Olle Romo were building most of the instrumental tracks of *Savage* on, tinkering as they struggled to deprogram the "voice" of its former owner (Buffy Sainte-Marie) out of it and instead arm it with the array of sounds Stewart had been collecting over years of touring. Much of the sonic landscape of the album (which is excellent) comes from the Synclavier's polyphonic digital sampling system in alchemy with the audio and musical sensibilities of Stewart, Romo, and Lennox...so you might find the album very interesting indeed to listen to on headphones with the awareness that much of what you're hearing in the structure is sampled sounds (including Lennox's own voice, often) retooled as percussion.

    Para mí, Savage es el mejor álbum de Eurythmics, simplemente genial, aunque increíblemente no tuvo el éxito que se merecía. Y la banda debería haber sido muchísimo más reconocida de lo que fue, si bien tuvieron muchos hits, cada disco es una obra de arte en sí...

    I’m so pleased you liked it, “Savage” is raw and it’s what the Eurythmics do best, they change and explore with every new album, I think some of the critics got it wrong, try “Shame” and “You Have Placed a Chill in My Heart” from the same album!

    Savage is my fav Eurythmics album. And of course, this was my song lol. Eurythmics definitely were underrated. Were my fav band back in the day--still are. Don't know where I read it, but years ago read an interview with Linda Ronstadt, she was asked who she voice she liked and she said Annie Lennox, that she didn't understand why people weren't running down the streets just screaming out her name lol

    Women were treated like shit by music industry, there are so many power house women from this era, even though the audience loved them the industry acted like they were a side act. Think about this in the early 90 s the industry thought female artists couldn’t fill a music fair. When Lilith Fair came around,the industry bet against them. They dominated and changed everything

    Fun fact: at the end of "Beethoven" video, we see Annie transform from a frustrated house wife, who then taps into her inner child, who gives her permission to transform into a drag queen; in this case a woman who's imitating a man that would dress like a woman. It's mind blowing when Annie comes thru as we see a ramped up Marilyn Monroe (more or less). This character makes several appearances throughout this ground breaking video concept album, Savage.
