My thoughts exactly! I love watching what I call the "Peter Chan live" videos, where we're watching Mr. Peter in real time in the creative process, where we see him make decisions and watch what happens live! 😊😍

The last little clip of this video is an explanation of what my Chinese name means. My Chinese name is Chan Yue Kwong which means "Chan with Radiant Light or exuberant Light". It has a very subtle meaning and the English language does not do it justice. If any Chinese scholars out there can illuminate me - I would be grateful.

Well, my friend, according to the Chinese translation you don't need any more illumination! Let your light shine, Mr Chan, for His glory! ✝️🇺🇲👍

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It made me smile a lot. Especially at the end. It would be great to see the progress of the Elm in a couple of months. A well needed 'haircut' 😊

Garden shears would have been my choice of tool to bring that mass down.

I have been watching your videos for a couple of years now. I would say I have learned a lot of what I know from you. I am a gardener and I apply your bonsai pruning techniques to my clients' garden trees. Just commenting here to say thanks for the great knowledge and teachings. I love my felco 2s! Are those barnell loppers you use? I have been collecting trees (seedlings and sucjers mainly) through my work. As many varieties as I can get my hands on. Now all I have to do is wait for growth and development. Of the trees and myself!! I always look forward to your videos. :)

I must be watching too much Peter Chan but I would say another 2-3 inches could come off the apex there to round the top of the tree off more in harmony with the foliage pads below.

In my first attempt at bonsai here in Toronto, Canada, my juniper and spruce, did well over the summer. But sadly and breaking my heart, they both died over winter. But I shall persevere!

It certainly looks extreme, but that's what needs to be done when it's allowed to become overgrown.
Out of curiosity how long will it take for the tree to recover and grown the leaves back, a 6 months to a year??
