To the young (and hungry) guys out there watching this, the things Pat's talking about like thick skin, resiliency, long term vision, etc are critical in sales, but also valuable in any profession. They're traits that have been less than common in every generation, not just yours. If you develop them within yourself, you will dominate.
People need to know that sales regardless of W-2 or 1099 is what they say in enterprise sales “Customer success” Because selling them is one thing…. RETAINING and keeping them HAPPY is the next 📌
If you want to jump into sales, I highly recommend you have some savings to pay the bills until you start making money. I recommend you don't party on your high income months, instead, put some money aside to get you through the tough time - because you WILL have down months. And for the love of everything good, set aside some money for taxes! Bonus: have your commissions paid into an LLC or similar entity. You will have the ability to write off more items and qualify for different tax credits.
I disagree. Even the idea of ‘overcoming’ is an attitude that you are coming up short before you even start. Sure, there’s going to be “objections” but there’s also the fact that your presentation has to be prepared and robust enough that the objection is covered in the course of your presentation AND if you ask the questions before you go deep you already know what the prospect’s mindset is. Face it, you are there because they want or need what you sell. They are likely to buy from someone: give them the opportunity to buy from you because you are the best outcome. You ain’t gonna win every time because sometimes your customers fail to see the value, or budget, or whatever. However, having objections with an ‘overcome’ mindset just means you didn’t prepare and do the work before you ever met them. Knowing your weak points and handling the elephant in the room before those points even come is handling objections, not overcoming them. Just make yourself that good.
I have a sticky note in my office that says, "make the phone call." Sales can have a lot of negative from rejection, sharing bad news, failing, and a general grind. Sales is hard but leaning on behaviors like making the phone call you need to make but don't want to make is what will help you succeed. I also have three kids and a stay at home wife so I have no choice 😂
I used to work in cancellations and every day I would start my day with the same mantra: "nobody is cancelling and everybody is buying everything". I was the top performer in a company of 16000 people for like 5 years straight before I left to start my business. Keep reminding yourself, its the right way to go. 🙂
He once talked about the book Forbidden Laws of Wealth by Victor Hayes and can’t believe how underrated it is. The insights in this book are game-changing definitely deserves more attention!
Damn I really needed this video, I’m 9 months into sales and was fighting my own demons making excuses and this video gave me clarity on what I should do it.
Pat just exudes confidence. He speaks quickly and is able to compress so much data into this 12+ minute video because the content has become second nature to him. I'm always amazed and in admiration of someone whose mind is agile enough to quickly form and eject cogent sentences in rapid succession. Great content.
My father worked as a procurement director for a large o&g company, and every year during Christmas his vendors would give him no less then 10 hampers, 10 plus bottles of wine and whiskey, and many would take him out for dining and I wanted this. I wanted to be courted like that, but I started my own business and had to, in turn be the like my father's vendors and court my clients and I will attest to it that courting a client is way more exciting then being courted by them.
Nice video keeping up with current trends and strategies can help traders stay ahead of the curve and make informed decisions, It is important for beginners in trading and investing to understand that success in these fields requires technical analysis, emotional maturity, and self-discipline. Thanks to Shea Ardolf’s insights, daily trade signals, and my dedication to learning, I've been increasing my daily earnings. Kudos to the journey ahead!
insightful comments, very much appreciated.. just came across the consulting page of Flora Monticola after inputting her full name on the web, super impressed with what i've seen so far
Literally Just Found her website easily it was like the first thing that came up when I searched on her name and also her mail address I will surely touch bases with her to see what's the best step for me to take rn. Thanks for sharing really do appreciate
The beauty of Shea Ardolf ’s approach is her dual focus: while she aggressively pursues profit opportunities, she's equally tenacious about shielding investors from potential pitfalls. It's a balance few can achieve.
Unfortunately, if we do some research, most companies set unachievable quota. Therefore sellers come short and stats show that sellers aren’t successful.
If you ever want to enter the entrepreneurial world! Sales is a non-negotiable! Whether you love it or hate it, if you want to make it, you’ve got to embrace sales to survive.
Selling insurance policies to people at inflated prices and taking a huge portion of that sale as profit, is a crappy scam. MLM’s aka pyramid schemes are predatory to the masses. While the vast majority of employees make below minimum wages.
My biggest problem with sales. When I am making good money, I get bored and lazy. I don't like it but I keep on repeating the same mistakes. To the point that I don't have the desire anymore. And I have to awaken my desire again, motivate myself and it is a tiring process. It is like I am a lion and turned into a sheep. And I need to get back to my lion form for me to be effective. The process is tiring but I don't care, I love selling.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. Sales must be cold to bring about this vlog. In the Army (Screaming Eagles!!!), we would focus really hard on PT for 30 days prior to a PT test...all brought on by a lecture from the Battalion Commander. Roger that, we will do two days until the PT test.
Patrick surely enjoyed watching this,I made my living in sales as a roadwarrior..loved it..long hours..lots of rejection..lots of wonderful people..lots of days..months sometimes without ever seeing a result..hoping it would work..and then suddenly the door opens..but not for the weakminded for sure..but persistence makes it happen in the end.
Average 5 NO responses to overcome before you get to yes. Listening is the most important sales technique. Your customer will reveal their needs. Example don't sell a new parents a sports car because they are looking at it in your showroom most likely they're looking for safety ease of getting car seats in and out. Asking key questions about possible objections gets to yes quicker. NO is not a four letter word. Your job is sevice. I started selling seeds doir to door out of a cardboard box at 10 years old. know your product. Upsell sure if you bought tomato seeds from me I knew marigolds were a companion plant to keep bugs off the tomatoes. Sales isnt hard your customers are a list of greenery tend them like a gardener. The easiest sale is to a repeat happy customer and their trusted friends. Rip someone off they tell ten people you are a bum your best customers will maybe tell 3 how good you are protect your reputation. The more doors you knocked and opened the more you will make. Qualify quickly. Just a few notes to add to great advice.
We used to say about ourselfs that we are dead inside, thats what sales do to you.Sales is hard because we are used to think time= money, and for much of the time sales sucks, the only good thing good about sales is the one sale, to make that you have to stomach thousands of rejections.
Most salespeople fail (most businesses fail) because they are not taught how to sell, don't understand salesmanship and only know tricks or gimmicks that are falsely called sales techniques taught by fake online gurus or tame college courses. Jobs don't teach what selling is either Old school books 60 to 100 years ago) taught salesmanship, psychology and so forth. Modern sales books teach hype and "tricks"...It is never good to trick/deceive your customer Most don't know that selling is basically providing a product or service that help the person accomplish their wants, needs, or desires. Most think good selling is "Selling ice to an eskimo" when they should be trying to sell food to the hungry...one don't succeed trying to sell someone something they don't need nor have use for, but one gets wealthy selling what helps achieve a person's wants, needs, and desires
Great Video! I’m 17 years old and im starting a marketing business for martial arts dojos and i used to day trade. I wanted to start this business because I believe sales is one of the only things that won’t be taken over by ai and sales is 2/3 of the business model but im horrible at talking to people right now and I do believe I have a weak mind when it comes to rejection but that’s exactly why i wanted to get into this because I want to improve at those areas. Why do you say that you won’t make it in sales if these things are true? Are most of them not learned behaviors?
Clearly, this year will be worse than the previous one. I lost a lot of money last year as a result of poor investing decisions that I would not have made if I hadn't been so worried about my portfolio. I continued to invest, but I was unsure whether I ought to start saving for a home. In the end, I sold my positions, and the house required more upkeep than I expected. I'm not sure how much longer I can keep going like this
A good salesman is only as good as a product he sells I installed car audio and no matter if it was a cheap product or a expensive product I still installed it the same way professionally I wasn't selling the product I was selling the install because it was the best no matter how cheap or expensive the product was
As a parts salesman in the auto industry I needed to hear this. Because I need to get out of the industry. There is zero future in sales unless you make 6 figures, make commission or sell a service for an hourly rate. Cannot wait to be done with it shortly
I've always felt bad getting rejected and I wasn't a go-getter even though I'm working hard. I know what I want from life and I've taken doing sales in a company, honestly it feels uncomfortable yet I'm getting used to it
Products rarely walk up to you and introduce themselves. A good salesman makes that introduction and gives the product the opportunity to speak for itself.
@@thatguy6054 I rely on user experience and my own experience with the item. Sales person has no influence on me...ever! Actually, when a sales person comes badger me I usually walk away. @@thatguy6054 Well obviously if I go to a car dealership the salesman needs to give me the keys to the car. Here's the test: would you buy a car that no one has ever driven based only on what the salesman tells you and without you taking it for a test drive?

Let's hope he skips returning to his mafia phase. I'm shorting Hot Topic and I would lose a ton of money if he gets that emo again.

I disagree.
