Setting up an online store to sell your art is a complicated process! I just spent the last month getting my shop ready to sell prints and original paintings. I made this Q&A video to answer any detailed questions you all had about opening your own online art store, making art prints at home, shipping art prints, and deciding what kinds of artwork people will want to buy. Thanks for covering my question Ashleigh. Actually, all the ground you covered was very enlightening, especially your insights on the initial investment of starting a store. Speaking of investing in the future, I've decided to head back to school! Nothing to extravagant, basically just one of those distance learning deals to sharpen up the old skills. Honestly, after walking away from art for YEARS, it's kinda scary all the concepts/techniques I've either forgotten, or never pursued properly in the first place. It's like they say I guess: You never stop learning. Great video! 👏👏👏👏

@@AshleighKing Thanks, I'll do that. BTW: I just dropped by your store, but only to scope it out. I wasn't planning on ordering until I got a couple tuition payments under my belt. Then it struck me one of the prints you offered is "Abandoned," so I pulled the trigger anyway. I just could not NOT get a copy!

Thank you, Ashleigh. I see that you are not using the Print on Demand service at Squarespace. I guess that you want to have control over the final product: choice of paper, and better resolution. True?
I plan to use it in the future for older artworks that I no longer wish to print myself. But yes you’re correct. For my first few drops I wanted more control on the quality and packaging.

You would have a big challenge if your paintings were bigger than the scanner screen... Taking photograph to art is a hard work!

it does suck that big bed scanners are so expensive, make it so much harder to get scans of big pieces of work. 1000 bucks for costs is pretty good considering the big main purchases dont have to be made again
So true! I’m considering taking my larger works into a store to be professionally scanned too. Might be more cost effective 😊
it often is cheaper to get them scanned unless you can get a good deal on a big scanner
