    Finally someone who understands the parallels between 5th Century Rome and 21st Century USA. In having to condense a lot of historical facts, Prof. Hanson left out that the Barbarian invasions started with the Goths entering Roman territory as asylum seekers fleeing the Huns, followed by unstoppable hordes through the broken borders of the Empire. A native Italian, I studied the Classics and have remained a student of History all my life. Twenty years ago, living in Europe, I saw the coming disintegration of Western Europe by catastrophic immigration, and moved to the USA as a legal immigrant. I am dismayed to see this Country now hurtling towards its own demise. When Rome fell, centuries of the Dark Ages followed, with most of the population reduced to helpless feudal servitude, ruled by small elites of constantly warring Lords with absolute power. The West is moving towards becoming a neo-feudal society.

    • @kaoskronostyche9939
      @kaoskronostyche9939 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

      I think you are too optimistic to predict a regression to feudalism. Feudalism requires some level of organization. Rather complete chaos, the survivors scavenging in the smoldering ruins while avoiding tribes of cannibals and packs of ravenous dogs. Feudalism would be a treat compared to that.

    • @Elizabeth-lb2jf
      @Elizabeth-lb2jf 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      @@kaoskronostyche9939 neo- feudalism arose from the embers of the cataclysmic fall of the Roman Empire. The scenario you describe did happen, but the people, displaced, helpless and starving, driven by the need to survive, tried to reorganize themselves by placing themselves under the protection of isolated military men, at the price of their freedom, submitting as feudal serfs to their Lords’ absolute power. That is why Europe is dotted with castles in elevated defensive position, the former peasants’ little houses huddled around the castles for quick escape behind the fortifications when the inevitable attacks came from competing Lords. As life became less threatening over the centuries, they built their houses lower down. Many modern European towns and even big cities have expanded around these castles. Just one example: Il Castello Sforzesco in Milano, Italy.

    • @kaoskronostyche9939
      @kaoskronostyche9939 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Elizabeth-lb2jf Yes and after your lengthy exhale you just proved my point. THere are no principalities or castles to defend. There will be no organization. The bigger you are the harder you fall. If you have not noticed our technological civilization is rather different from Rome (duh).
      We can't become neo- feudalist because no one knows how to work steel to make plows and where do you get the anthricite coal to make coke to make steel for example. Who knows how to make a wooden wheels for your medieval carts?.
      Your lengthy rant merely shows you have no clue and that the times are actually quite different now.

It explains how migration is part of the plan to 'uplift' the 3rd world hordes by giving them a soft landing in their new homes (our countries) and simultaneously improve their countries of origin through the remittances they will send home. It glosses over the commensurate drop in living standards in developed nations. In other words, they WANT to bring the 3rd world to the West. They have no interest in bringing other Westerners in. And WE are going to take a hit so THEY can have better lives. Seriously, take 5 minutes and Google it. It's their official website. I'd like to add that no-one voted for this and no-one wants it. I don't mean to pick nits, Victor, but there is a distinction between a citizen and a non-citizen when entering the country. As a citizen, I need a passport and am subject to the whims of the Immigration and Naturalization officer who examines my "papers". As a non-citizen at the southern border, I just walk in and am welcomed. I may even be given a mail-in ballot, a cell phone, and some money plus transportation, including by airline. Plus, as a non-citizen, nobody checks my vaccine status, as happened during the Covid fiasco if I wanted to fly within my country. On top of this, I get to pay taxes for my "privileges" while the non-citizen who entered the country illegally does not. In fact, I am paying for him. The Dems say that this is "democracy" and that Trump would end this "democracy". That works for me.

    This country has always been sort of a mosaic. There have always been little Italys, China towns, etc. but we used to be able to agree on being American. I feel that is now lost. My mother wasn’t born here but she and her parts and siblings were proud to be Americans. This current round of immigration, not so much.

    I'm a southerner by birth , educated in two universities, traveled the world thanks to the US Navy, living 20+ years in Chicago, and married to a Chinese. What just hit me is that this clash of culture is in the big cities, and barely exists in small cities. In small towns, the absolute number of immigrants is quite low, as most prefer to go to major cities, where more of their own people already live. We really do need to control the influx, as the small cities have proven the conflict is more quickly over. ( Hometown Chattanooga being my example.) Voting and social welfare programs are considered "normal careers of local government employees, who are not nearly so openly corrupt as huge city governments (fact). Financial control is much easier in local government.

      The rise of critical theory and political action (including feminism...of whatever kind) across all "intersectionalities" (sorry) is the outcome of a rethinking of Marxism after the obvious failure of the Soviet Union to deliver a socialist utopia. This led to a rethinking of Marxism and the development of for example Eurocommunism and new political strategies. Essentially the Left, with the exception of the very far Left, abandoned the idea of revolution. Concentrating on only one part of this political development ( eg feminism as a standalone phenomenon) misses the point. Regarding a comment below, Peterson interviewed some guy who admits he knows little about cultural Marxism and both of them were not making the connection between abovementioned international developments and these two guys' fragmented view of how and why said cultural Marxism took over the academy. Focussing on one element eg "feminism" is an emotional response, not an intellectual one

    Dewine awarded WHO $29,000,000 so that they could buy and refurbish vacant houses in order to rent them out to the immigrants at a unfairly high price. This raises property taxes for everyone else. To get this $29,000,000 they took away senior house tax credits. They took all of our senior house tax credits in Cleveland already…
    How tf is that fair? Also these people are getting slaved away by being placed in minimum wage jobs with high house rent.
    That’s the ugly truth. Dewine has a lot of explaining to do! He’s in hot water I assure you. Watch out for this in every city. Watch the tax credit system. Watch for tax cuts. Watch for property tax increase. Seriously.
    The second I hear racism being spit is the second I follow the money.
    If Ohio had the stones we should bind together and file a class action lawsuit against Dewine for at least defamation of character if not crimes against humanity or treason.

    I think economic migrants who despise US values completely fail to understand the nature of wealth. They think the US is rich by abundant natural resources. It does have advantages but that is not the crucial factor. The crucial factor is the social & legal compact between the citizens, the rule of law, free speech, property rights, accountability of elected officials. That allows innovation (and the right not to have that stolen by more powerful entities) which is the great economic multiplier. If they import the ideals of the society they want to escape from, and the US lets them do it, they will inevitably recreate the failed state they ran away from. Then all that wealth will drain away.

    Migration is a result of bad rule of countries by multinational corporations, making homes unlivable.
    Definition of a banana republic:
    A banana republic is a derogatory term used to describe a politically unstable country with an economy that is heavily dependent on the export of a single product or resource, such as bananas or minerals12. These countries often have significant foreign influence and control over their economy, typically by foreign-owned companies or industries2. The term was first coined by American writer O. Henry in 1904.
    “Today, the statistics are good. They reveal that 50 percent of the world’s wealth is in the hands of US-based corporations, even though the national account, GDP, is not anywhere near that.”
    Chomsky, Noam; Waterstone, Marv. Consequences of Capitalism: Manufacturing Discontent and Resistance (p. 138).

    No borders:
    “In a libertarian society, there is no commons or public space. There are property lines, not borders. When it comes to real property and physical movement across such real property, there are owners, guests, licensees, business invitees, and trespassers - not legal and illegal immigrants.”
    ~ Jeff Deist, president of the Mises Institute
    David Koch may’ve lost in 1980 when he ran as VP on the libertarian ticket, but his platform didn’t. Granting capitalists unchecked power over these past 50 years is why everything has become so perilously out of kilter. Project 2025 is a declaration to hold the course, no matter how fascist neoliberalism has become.
    Article: How David Koch’s 1980 Fantasy Became America’s Current Reality
    The western empire created third world violent, uncivilized countries via economic sanctions and policies, on purpose:
    "The US is an irresponsible empire. It devastates countries (including the US) and leaves them in shambles, with no compensation. Its actions are increasingly destructive because the purpose is not in reality to build an empire, but to destroy real or potential rivals (Wolfowitz Doctrine) and so maintain the position of superiority gained in WW2."
    ~Diana Johnstone
