I watch every episode with great interest! Unintended consequence! For 1/2 of each day after I watch an episode, I sound just like you! Day before: “Hey Chery, what did I do with the bag from the composite shop”? “ I bought some new rollers”. “I thought I left them right here.” Day after: “Hey luv, where you reckon I did with the bag from the comp-sit shop?” “I bought some new fin rollahs”. “ I thought I left them right heah “. Thanks for a much appreciated trip down in the hulls. I’m building some molds right now.
Progress - looking better every week Ross 👍 and yes, as you point out, there are very few boats that are actually symmetrical, including production made! Boats really are a unique beast hey! 😀
Ross, I have enjoyed watching you pull the modules in and out for awhile but the fitting of this one really shows well how these modules fit and are integrated into the hull. Great work and thanks for sharing this epic build.
Ross you are a true craftsman. I'm always amazed at how nice your work comes out. Hell I'm struggling building a 10 ft. Dinghy. Lol. You make it look so easy. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks.
Aww thanks Robert.Keep working on it buddy, its amazing how things come together with tenacity and the majority of my work is pure tenacity and learning from mistakes .Cheers Ross
Once again you've done a great video Ross. That hard top will really makes a huge difference on your friends Cat. As for the progress on your cat, you are really making a difference now. Showing the overlays of the finished version and your work in progress really does a wonderful job of helping us visualize where in the Boat you are working. Continue to take care of yourself and the bride. Regards, Solomon
Should have put the aluminium profiles on top, then screw the part to it to hold it in place. Then fillet from the inside, tab from the inside. Once cured remove the aluminium profiles, fillet and light sanding. Same strength and a lot less fairing and sanding needed. Always plan your work to minimize fairing and sanding - those are by far the most time consuming tasks.
Hey Ross, I`m binge watching from the start and just watched you struggle to get the stairs out of their mold. I worked in construction most of my life, and we used to use some pretty complex polystyrene shapes to cast concrete against. As we wanted to re-use them , getting them out of the concrete without damage was important as they cost a bomb! We found using compressed air was the way to go. Something for you to think about mate
You're building the charter version, then, four cabins? I have this vision of you with the whole family on board... even more of a riot than your xmas video.
I am building as per the std layout .Happy to have more bedroom space with the large family we have.I did think about making 1 stern cabin into a workshop but Janet put her foot down .Cheers Rossco
Great work (again), Ross. I have a question... I hear you often talking about getting things "level." I build things that attach to ground so I understand the concept of level and square but I'm curious how that works when you are building a boat. What part of the hull mold did you set to level when you got started? More importantly, how do you know how the boat will sit in the water once it is fully built and loaded? Obviously, you want the level that you are setting everything to as you build it on land to be the same when you float it. But it seems that the. way in which the boat sits in the water will have a lot to do with how your weight distribution compares to the original design.
Masterful work there Rosco. I can't wait to see you tabbing in a module and you with i! :-) Just kidding mate! Glad everybody's well and safe. Cheers! Rick & Lori
Thanks Rick.Hope you and Lori are safe and getting ready to start work on your beauty again Should be starting to warm up a bit to get the stucky stuff moving again. All the best .Ross
@@LifeOnTheHulls We're ok here Rosco. Taking precautions and following the rules (mostly). :-) I tore up my left rotator cuff again. Figure the only thing that'll fix that is surgery but that's not gonna happen till this virus stuff is over and done with. Stay safe. Stay well. Cheers mate!
Hi, Ross, Inside out that's the way always better to build on framework and to be able to fasten into it. looking good another tick on my wall for ross. Cheers buddy stay safe. George UK.
Another great video. Just curious, do you know how many of the production boats were made? Having worked at a fiberglass yacht company many years ago I cant imagine that the production boats were made anywhere near the quality that you're producing!
WAIT A MINUTE "CAPTAIN ROSS", or should I say Captain Janet. #1, having the 4th bed just in caase you have a full boat can be rememdied by letting the youngsters camp in the cockpit and the salon. Remember the saying, cruising is camping and the kids would like to sleep outside more than having a bedroom. Also, where are you going to put all the spares, a vice, tool box, etc. Pulling a toolbox out of a hole in the sole is a backbreaker. I was also wondering why you wouldn't have a hull just for you and Janet. We all know the more comfortable boat is 3 staterooms with one hull for the owners. Obvioously, it's your boat and I'm just ranting on because I'm having fun. Also, did yousay those hardtops are for a Seawind Cat? Love your channel, and your workmanship is certainly on a par with any boatbuilder in the world. You and Teal are the two best fiberglass guys I've seen. SV Seeker also has it down when it comes to homebuilt steel boats.
I know this is not the most recent episode, but what is the thickness of this ladder for the beds and what material or layers did you use for its construction?
Would like to see a bit of time spent on whatever instructions or documents you did get for assembly. Since this was not sold as a home built kit, I would imagine the documentation was on the sparse side. Are there any completed versions close to you that you can use for a reference or what do you do when your not sure of a step or sequence or something ??
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦. Awesome work, love how you detail your thought process and rationale in combination during the work. Will subscribe to your other channel as well.
G day Ross don't know if you saw this th-cam.com/video/GROQjyMp318/w-d-xo.html there are a few "friendly" types hanging around various channels at the moment so be careful and stay safe mate. Hope to see you coming up the Tamar one day

Since I have been watching your channel and the other, I have never seen you give less then 120% on any of your work. Stay safe down there Ross.
Where did you get the gizmo that measures the percentage, I can't seem to pass the 100% when I'm measuring people's work ethics 😀😀

Awesome work. What going to happen to the molds after you are done building? Are you planning on making more boats?
Well I fell a bit behind these last 4 months - other distractions. Binge watch to catch up called for.😂
