  • Hang out with Jesse & I as we unbox and set up our new Yesoul G1M Plus exercise bike 🙂
    Yesoul's exercise bikes are an affordable Peloton and NordicTrack alternative, and they recently sent us their latest G1M Plus exercise bike in exchange for creating content for our audience on Instagram.
    While this video isn't paid or sponsored in any way, we thought it would be fun to take you guys behind-the-scenes of creating influencer marketing content for Instagram while also taking the opportunity to talk about the reasons why I accepted this unpaid partnership (which is definitely not the norm!)
    I've gained a substantial amount of weight since moving to the cabin. My weight gain actually started when I moved away from the city and out to the Kootenays about four years ago, but over the past four months specifically, I've watched my body transform into shapes I've never experienced before.
    In all honesty, I thought moving rurally - especially to an area of Western Canada that is incredibly generous with its mountains, trails, and outdoor communities - would introduce me to an active lifestyle out in nature. When we moved up to the cabin last fall, I then thought that the physical labour required to maintain a rural property would help me lose weight & become stronger (all of that firewood stacking, yardwork & manual snow shovelling - are you kidding me?!)
    For whatever reason, this hasn't been the case. For the most part, my life is pretty sedentary; I work long hours from the comfort of my office chair, writing and engaging on social media while I continue to build an online business remotely from the cabin itself. While my mental health has improved exponentially since relocating to the Kootenays and living so much closer to nature, the reality is that living rurally has made me feel isolated from any kind of fitness community and I'm definitely lacking any kind of accountability or supports for self-care in regards to taking care of my physical body.
    As I head into the final years of my 30's, my lack of physical fitness and movement has become a pretty serious concern for me, personally. The bottom line is that no matter where I'm living at any given time, I HAVE to find a way to start prioritizing physical fitness, cardio, strength training, and movement in general into my lifestyle and daily routine.
    In 2024, Jesse and I are slowly repurposing the cabin's a-frame guest bedroom into a yoga, fitness and workout space, and Yesoul's G1M Plus bike felt like the perfect addition to our tiny little DIY home gym!
    Enjoy this fun little vlog that shares our experience unboxing and setting up our new Yesoul exercise bike, trying out all of it's fun features, and filming fun content with Fern and Ivy for a short Reel over on Instagram 🙂
    Thank you so much to Yesoul for sending us this beautiful bike! You guys are awesome!
    And as always, thank you to ‪@JesseSchpakowski‬ for taking the time to edit this video 🥹

    It's Ivy's FITNESS rope! And Fern, acting as a barbell after doing downward pug for most of the assembly. I love that the Yesoul logo is a unicorn. I sort of want a bike now.

      @grumblefarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ivy's fitness rope 😂 I mean, using Fern as a barbell literally adds like 20 lbs so it's gotta count for something?! Originally I wanted to shoot a clip holding one pug under each arm but that was a no-go lolol. I actually really love their logo too, it's magical! I still haven't quite gotten into a solid routine with the bike yet but I'm determined to not let it sit up there and collect dust 😭 I honestly just have to find a good, solid vlog channel so I can binge other people's vlogs while I'm riding haha. I'm in Calgary now as I'm sure you know but I'm looking forward to getting back and hopping on that thing!

    Nice bike, love that huge screen! Great job Jesse. I only get cardio from walking 2 groups of dogs a day, that's it for me.

      @grumblefarm  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Honestly that's a lot more than a lot of people! Haha! I remember back in my pug walking/sitting days, I would be doing MULTIPLE rounds with multiple packs of pugs of different ages and abilities - it was definitely enough for me at the time hahaha

      That's literally my favourite part of the entire bike 😂 I used it for yoga before I left for Calgary and it was great! I just swivelled it around and rolled out my yoga mat and streamed a class from TH-cam. It was nice! I have yet to try it out on the actual bike for a cycle but I'm looking forward to it when I get back, I'm just trying to think of a good TV show to binge while I'm doing it (or maybe a new vlog channel or something or maybe I'll just watch my own lolol)

    Hey Brandy, i seriously enjoyed this video. I am in my late 50s and am sedentary to rival the best of them. 😅 this relaxed setup and show and tell made me feel not so intimidated. Like maybe this is something i might actually do if i had one in my house. Love watching you do your TH-cam behind the scenes too. ❤

    • @grumblefarm
      @grumblefarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "Sedentary to rival the best of them" hahahaha. I thought it was just so funny how Yesoul sent me an exercise bike to create influencer marketing content when I haven't worked out in fucking AGES. It would have felt so inauthentic and ick to try and approach it as someone who knows the first thing about fitness and staying in shape 😂 I definitely had a lot of imposter syndrome thinking about how I was going to approach content for this brand but I was like fuck it, I'm just gunna talk about how fitness is hard and I wish it wasn't, haha. I'm in Calgary right now so I didn't get too much of a chance to ride it before I left, but I am looking forward to getting back and finding something reliable to watch on the flat screen monitor while I ride! Ideally it would be amazing if I could somehow figure out to make it a regularly daily routine so I'm going to give it my best shot 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'll share about it on my IG stories. Bahaha

    Good job Brandy. I am struggling with the motivation to exercise too and I have 15 plus years on you I hope the bike works well for you. My only recommendation is start slow with the length and intensity so you don’t injure yourself and set yourself up for set backs. Definitely good to keep the yoga as part of your routine either as a warm up or cool down Have fun

      I was honestly always so proud of and inspired by you whenever you shared about your running/jogging, walking and weight loss goals on Zoom with us! I think the advice you gave is really good. I'll definitely be looking into beginning classes and rides to keep it simple and easy or else I'm going to get discouraged and hate it a lot. Haha. I love the idea of doing yoga as a nice cool down because my favourite type of yoga is yin/restorative which would feel soooo good after my muscles are warmed up! I'm in Calgary now as you know but I'm really excited to get back to the cabin and spend some time up there in that cute little A-frame home gym of ours 🥰 I'll probably be sharing my efforts on my IG stories to at least try and keep myself accountable in some way, shape or form lol.

    Quick comment. I hate seeing pics of myself! You are awesome

    • @grumblefarm
      @grumblefarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I LOVE seeing photos of myself, but the problem is, I only like one in every approximately 1,000 photos taken of me 😂 And that ratio seems to be getting worse as I get older! Being in front of Jesse's camera has definitely been an ongoing lesson and practice in self-love and self-acceptance, that's for freaking sure. It's so easy to be critical. Which is so silly because I am NEVER critical of anyone else I see in front of the camera, no matter how they look! The only thing I pay attention to is what they're saying, how they're saying it, their humour, their heart, their courage, their bravery, and how they show up as a human being. I sometimes notice things like a pair of cute earrings or a pretty manicure from time to time but it never even crosses my mind that someone is unattractive or old or unworthy because of those things or anything like that? But I'm such a horrible critic to myself of how I look and what I don't like about what I see in photos and videos of myself. So yup, definitely aware of it and working on it every day! You have to at least let Jesse take photo of us together if or when we ever meet one day for memories sake 😉

    I have SUCH a hard time motivating to work out too. I'll go through seasons of enjoying fitness and then I lapse for one reason or another. If I could just shift the perspective into moving my body for my mental health...let us know how the bike goes! Looks cool!!

    • @grumblefarm
      @grumblefarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's so so so so so so so challenging. Like, nothing about it feels good to me 😂 Except for when it's over and I can like, eat something? Ugh. I enjoy yoga a lot for movement and stretching and stuff but actual fitness is just a fucking drag. I wish I didn't feel that way either! My sister is really super into fitness and it's pretty impressive to see what she gets up to at the gym. I truly wish I could find a way to make it such a normal, natural part of my lifestyle that I don't even have to think twice about it, but... we're not there yet. I left for Calgary shortly after setting up the bike so I'm going to ATTEMPT to get into a routine with it when I get back. I just need to find a solid playlist on TH-cam or something - a good vlog or maybe even learn something?! Or something entertaining... I don't know haha the Yesoul app has "scenic rides" and I was checking them out and there's one that's APPARENTLY Banff, Alberta, which is where Jesse and I are from, and we watched it and we were like ummmmmm that is definitely not Banff 💀 But I wouldn't know any different for any other location in the world so maybe I'll try those out and hope it gets me out of this final winter funk! I have a "happy light" therapy lamp too so maybe I'll blast that in my face and go for a cycle along some kind of ocean boardwalk or something while blowing a fan in my face to simulate a breeze 😂

    Proud of you for setting this up and starting on a fitness journey. 💗 I have a feeling you’re really going to like breaking a sweat - and feeling those endorphins after! I lost 60 lbs in the last year and now always prioritize morning workouts along with afternoon walks. But I need some puggo weights! 🤣

    • @grumblefarm
      @grumblefarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Omg! Sixty freaking pounds in the last year?! Wholey feck! What was YOUR journey like?!?! I need to know everything! How freaking inspiring!! (also lol at the pug weights, ahaha)

    OMG I get you! I don’t enjoy working out or dieting or any of that! 😂😂 Las year I lost 2 stone pretty much working and cleaning at the shelter! Love you guys! 💙

    • @grumblefarm
      @grumblefarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Working out fucking sucks 😂 I honestly WISH I didn't feel this way and I actually enjoyed it, but omg. It's the last thing I want to do ever! I definitely appreciate when hobbies, activities and work have the additional benefit of losing weight without even really having to think about it. I thought it would happen to me at the cabin but the problem is, I also love cooking, food, and eating so much that I'll spend SIX hours shovelling snow or three hours splitting and stacking firewood and then I'll come inside to make the most amazing meal or dinner and while it's usually very healthy.... I just eat soooooo much of it because it's soooooo yummy. Honestly the last time I was ever lean was when I was in the hospital after my cancer diagnoses several years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ Anyway I'm not giving up! I just wanna ride this damn bike and make sure I get some use out of it!!

  • @karendeyager4123
    @karendeyager4123 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Same!! HATE working out!lol especially in a public forum. Yuck!
    And when we get workout equipment, it quickly becomes part of the furniture or another place to throw stuff.lol hope you love the bike!!!
    Side note: love your Lynyrd Skynyrd tee! 🥰

    • @grumblefarm
      @grumblefarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's just not fun and nobody can convince me otherwise 😭 Between Jesse and I, we're DETERMINED to not let this bike collect dust up there but I know exactly what you mean about exerise equipment almost ALWAYS becoming just another surface to throw other things. When I was doing a lot of pet and house sitting a while back, I used to see it ALL THE TIME - just graveyard after graveyard of abandoned treadmills and stairmasters 😂 It's an epidemic!
      That Lynyrd Skynyrd tee is my pyjamas, it's Jesse's old t-shirt hahaha. I only threw it on because I have no dedicated workout clothes and Jesse said, just wear a t-shirt? And that was the first one I grabbed. Afterwards when a few people commented on it I realized I couldn't even name a single song of his, and so one day when I was driving into town for supplies I played a Lynyrd Skynyrd playlist on Spotify and I was like ooooooohhhhh he's the Sweet Home Alabama guy. HAHAHA fuck my life I'm so dumb when it comes to music

    Hey Brandy! I hate working out too. Muscle is a must as we get older though. Maybe this bike will light a fire in you. Menopause is no joke!

    • @grumblefarm
      @grumblefarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I really appreciate how many people commented on this video sharing that they also hate working out 😂 This is definitely not any sort of fitness community that's for sure hahaha. I completely agree that muscle and gentle strength training is so important as we age! I'm not quite at the menopausal chapter yet but actually in my mind a lot. I wonder if I'm going to gain even more weight when I go through it?! I know a lot of women do!

    At 18:52 I had to laugh so hard. I wish I could share a picture my brother just sent me. It was his 15.5 year old pug in the exact same position in his arms coming into his living room after giving Tiki a bath. I almost fell off my bed laughing. Sorry, not about yesoul. I still like the concept but it isn’t in the us .

    I cant be the only perv-minded individual that appreciates the joke, verbally, that is lost in the text format of comments - there is something super funny about an exercise bike named the "yesoul" (which Ive chosen to pronounce like YES-HOLE) that involves the user climbing onto/into the apparatus and bouncing on their NO-Hole 🤣
    If infact it is pronounced "Yeee Soul" - is there a disclaimer in the manual that bans Gingers from operating the device due to the "Nay Soul" clause? Will Jesse be sent a cease and desist letter? Will said letter end up in "The Morning Crackle"🤣😎😁
    As the torchbearing representative for IPABA (International Pugs Against Bicycles Association), on a scale from 1-10 how much does Ivy hate the unit, and would Jonas have borked his heart out at the device, or just cast hatred & shade from a safe distance?
    "Every guy has a knife in their pocket" Loved this line, and how, for the shots that followed it, you had the knife open and flailing about triggering my Nervous-Nellie Internal-Ivy instincts as I shouted at the screen hopelessly trying to make you close the blade lol. Owning a majestic Beard while carrying a shaving-sharp pocket knife is a total mountain-man flex. Street cred +5.
    I picked up a recumbent bike recently, maybe you will inspire me to join you on this fitness adventure! I love the idea of a way more reasonable alternative to the "P" branded bikes that shall remain nameless. I've already sent this video to two people I know whom are in the market for an exercise bike!

    • @grumblefarm
      @grumblefarm  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      YES HOLE NO HOLE 😂 Ohhhhhh myyyyy Godddddsss. Also, I literally can't believe that I didn't make the connection between now having a bike in the cabin, and Jonas' previous position as the head of the IPABA. He would 110% not approve and upon reflection I should have denied Yesoul's request to send me a free bike knowing so.
      HAHAHA were my pocket knife skills not up to par? Honestly I never know how to fucking close those things! Jesse has tried to show me a million times and I still don't get it lol. I'm much better with a pair of scissors for this kind of thing. #internalivyinstincts (also Jesse carrying a pocket knife at all times is 100% on brand for him)
      I actually had to Google what a recumbent bike was. Lol. That things looks more comfortable than a normal bike for some reason?! I've never even sat my no-hole on a "P" branded bike before, and I mean... I guess it's probably nice, but this thing is like a fraction of the cost and it's one of the nicest bikes I've ever seen, so... I'm in Calgary now but I'm honestly looking forward to getting back to the cabin and riding this thing (I just need to find a good TV show to binnnnnngggggeeee) 🚴‍♀️

    The ads say how quiet this bike is, however I heard noise when Jesse got on. Is it squeaky when you are cycling faster, any noises?

    • @grumblefarm
      @grumblefarm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is a little squeaky! Jesse's also a MASSIVE human, so that could have played a part 😅 It's definitley quiet, but not noise-less - it squeaks a little bit when I ride it, I'm assuming a Peloton at 4X the cost of a Yeseoul is likely a lot sturdier!
