- We first started pursuing our goal of joining TH-cam's partner program four years ago, back at the beginning of 2020.
While there have been some ups and downs over the last four years, it was the unexpected results of our last video that finally pushed us to the finish line of reaching the eligibility requirements to finally be able to monetize our TH-cam channel.
In this video I just wanted to warmly welcome any new subscribers, as well as go over what exactly happened in our TH-cam world this past week since sharing about Jesse's diagnoses. A lot of people made it very clear that they didn't like me, but I learned a lot and we're f*cking monetized now so YAY!
Thank-you to all of our friends and Patrons all over the world who played our old videos on a loop to keep up the momentum and outpace our expired watch hours! I'm super excited to continue creating videos and sharing even more about life out here at the cabin in the Koots, while learning more about what you guys are interested in seeing and hearing about, too.

Hi , new sub here, I was diagnosed with a Pituitary tumour at age 24, Jessie has a long road ahead and I can see that he has a wonderful support system , he will need that support system throughout his tumour Journey, I decided to not have surgery as there is a high probability that it will return ,I chose radiation and Medication to shrink the tumour , I still have the tumour ( I am now 50) regular MRI, ophthalmologist , endocrinologist appointments , Hormone therapy and Daily medication to help with symptoms, the symptoms are now thankfully manageable, just know that it is possible to live with the tumour and lead a good quality of life ❤
Hey Nikki! Ahh, thank you for sharing this ❤️ Jesse's been getting quite a few comments like "It's not that uncommon" or "It's not a big deal", and it kinda sucks to hear that from people! Hearing your story was so interesting - we've both heard from a few people who went this route (ie no surgery and opting for treatment instead). I'm so incredibly curious about what Jesse's journey is going to look like, and what the neurosurgeon is going to recommend during his first consult in a couple of weeks. His tumour is quite large and is putting significant strain on his optic nerves, so we're mostly hoping to get some relief from that one particular symptom as he's a photographer for a living, so it's sort of ironic that this is happening to him! It's such a relief to hear that over the past 26 years, you've managed to find what works best for you to continue living a good life - it's very inspiring and hopeful ❤️ Big hugs!
@@grumblefarm I had the same comments , yet I am the only patient ever to have it in my area and had to go to a professor for consultation in our Capitol city ( I am in the Uk ) it is not a big deal for those who haven’t got it , but I’m sure if them same people had it and suffered with the symptoms it would be a Big deal , losing a lot of my eyesight and many other symptoms such as infertility are a very big deal to me, I found support & talking to other patients via The pituitary foundation invaluable as did my family talking to other family members as it can feel very isolating post diagnosis , I unfortunately had to give up my career as I was deemed unsafe to continue ( I dispensed Medication ) due to my eyesight, brain fog, fatigue to name a few reasons , but I did go on to forge a new career path that I grew to love , I hope that Jessie is able to continue doing his job and that he too will find a treatment plan that works well for him ❤️
Nikki, I know it's been a while since you left this response but I just found it and read it for the first time and wanted to let you know how inspiring your story is. Thank you for sharing it 💙 Jesse will be going in for surgery on June 28th (postponed from May 22nd, unfortunately) but his eyesight has been deteriorating more and more every day. Only time will tell what this will look like on the other side for him but your experience with finding supports and your journey through giving up your career and finding a new, fulfilling path was absolutely wonderful to read! Thank you!

I absolutely love that you noticed them back there 🥹 I actually think this is what I love about TH-cam, is that there's so much more awareness from anyone watching because they're committing to watching something a little bit longer, so... little details tend to get noticed a lot more often?! Going downstairs to grab their little pine needle urns was a last minute decision before hitting "record" too - the desk space to my right (left of the screen) seemed a little empty, and those urns seemed like the perfect little touch to put right there. And now they live with me up in the office when I'm writing and working, which is most of the day, and it makes me incredibly happy ❤️💙 This video was definitely spice-less but that's because I waited a few days before going on camera to talk about it hahahaha. Honestly if I would have turned on my camera as it was happening - CAROLINA REAPERS!!!! (I had to Google the spiciest pepper in the world just now, so I just learned something new!) The fact that Jesse leaped to my defense so swiftly made me want to marry that man. There is quite literally nothing sexier lol. I actually teared up a bit when you wrote that there was so much potential for my future because I have so much value to bring to the world - AH!! This is such a freaking kind and encouraging thing to say!! Thank you!!! And... also... as always... thank you for including my hair 😂 It was so funny one of the hate comments on "the" video of Jesse and I was someone critizing how I started the announcement about "Jesse's cancer" with a "monologue about my hair" 💀 Like, ok clearly you're not from these parts lol. Absolutely! He has had ups and downs with his channel as well but once he started sharing his story with this whole pituitary adenoma thing, he just started pumping out the videos and it's been so cool to see him sitting down in front of the camera and talking, rather than behind it. And this way it takes the pressure off of me a bit to share about his journey since he's taken it upon himself to share it in his own words which is awesome for anyone interested in following along with what's going on ❤️

*takes a deep bow* It literally took 6 or 7 hours this day until I was ready to get on camera because that's literally how long it takes to air-dry into curls fml. All kidding aside, congrats, this has been a LONG time coming and I'm so happy for you, and there is some bittersweet delight in knowing that a viral sundae coated in hater-sprinkles is what pushed you over the edge and got you to crest that monetary mountain! This is just one milestone on the pathway, with many more to come, and I can't wait to look back on this in years to come, and remind you of the joys and jerks that peppered this journey. Give Jesse's auburn chin-scarf an extra caress from his bearded brethren over yonder, and just know that Latka and I are sending all the love and best wishes to all y'all 😘
P.S. I know Jesse sometimes may feel less-than-comfortable in front of the camera than he does behind, but, and I say this as respectfully and as complimentary as I can, but "Jesse with a brain tumor" ("New, from Mattel, Brain Tumor Barbie!") is more well spoken, succinct, transparent, articulate, and fluent than most people, on their best days. Whether you choose to share this with him, or HOW you choose to share this with him, is your own decision.

And that's so funny about Brain Tumor Barbie's communication skills, lol - we've talked about what's going to happen when the tumor is removed - is he going to become... a supercommunicator?
