2x wounded iraq vet with severe ptsd I struggle sleeping have many long nights. I started watching several channels you listed 2 years ago and picked up carving. It saved my life its therapeutic very grateful for all the free knowledge we have access to on here.
Doug Linker is my wood carving hero. I learned more from him than I could have ever imagined possible. Great teacher, lots of common sense, tremendous artistic skills. I cannot say enough about him.
You should check out Ben Studio on the lake, Just carve Rob,Jordy Johnson carving Fusion, Ikan Karv Bap Theses are all great teachers. Thanks for doing the video. Carve on!!!
Mike Stinnett is my personal favourite but perhaps that's simply because the nature of his carvings is my kind of thing. However, all of these channels are excellent and really helpful and inspiring to us learners.
Never understood why woodcarvers and or whittlers do not get the recognition they deserve. Those that use clay or stone or brushes are called artists, we use blades, what is the difference, we are creating wood sculptures basically, large and small. I for instance would be honoured to display a work by Doug Linker and others.
Very nice and good to know. However, for me, Doug Linker is way ahead of the field and would be my top choice. What is it about his carvings and videos - he is an excellent teacher and demonstrates these with examples, knowledge, humor and masterful carving. Can’t beat that combo. Best, Chuck Leaf
It is a great pity but it seems that James (Alaska Woodchuck) has closed down his channel. I know he had an issue with some comments by some subscribers and he slowed down his output. Seems he went all the way and now I can't find any of his truly excellent videos anymore. He would have continued to become a real important carving TH-camr in my opinion. Sorely missed. Great list none the less :)
I know a good carver, no power tools, Bill Morreau Grosse Ile Michigan, he has been carving for more than 55 years. Never been on U tube p, his work is excellent. He and I both like watching carvers, and yes it’s a great hobby relaxing and creative. Keep them coming.
Jordy Johnson at carving fusion another top carver and one of the most inspirational guys in the community. Great video n a couple I need to check out 🤙
You definitely belong in the top 10, more so then a couple others I have listed that dropped off that's for sure! Sorry I missed you I have been a subscriber to your channel for quite awhile
Doug Linker is the reason why I carve today. Stumbled across one of his video's and had to have a go, and now I can not put my knifes down. But look out for Ddalo at the moment. Just wish I was half as good of all the guys in this video.
If people want to get into power carving these are the top channels Carving Fusion, Ryan Cook Carvin, Uncle Kevin Carves, Just Carve Rob, Bens Studio On The Lake, Matt Carves,Stixandstonescarving,Cleve’s Backyard Wood Working, check them out !
Power carving is the way to go for me, and I have spent many a hour watching all of the above you mentioned on you tube. They give me so much inspiration to think I could do that. 👍
Yes I actually was only doing knife carvers for this video, I do like these other guys too especially Ryan he does some awesome work. Haven't done any power carving myself but there is a few guys in our club that do. Thanks for watching!
All are great carvers, I do wish Harold Enlowe would have had a Chanel. He's suffering from the beginning stages of altizmers and not able to carve anymore, he needs our prayers.
Thank you so much for this video. I have used several of these carver's videos which has been a tremendous help. I always recognize them if I post my carvings.
My favorite Gene and Doug. I only haven't heard of 1 person I'm subscribed too. Nice put together thank you a wonderful shout out for our ccac for so many of us whittlers. Thank u everyone 👍👍😎
I admire and I am extremely great full to these wood carver's and there amazing talent as I am new to carving and I look forward to many happy year's carving and learning from the best 👍
Thanks for sharing this and showing us some other carvers. I've been a big fan of Doug and Gene for about 3 years now. While person-to-person shows are great for networking and building friendships, I still believe video is such a great medium for carving. You can simply go back and rewind and watch steps over and over. That's impossible to do with an in-person demos. But the in-person stuff still has tremendous value when it comes to meeting other people.
Good ranking. As a beginner I've watched most of them. They each have taught me something. Linker and Messer have been the most helpful. I find that the Alaska Woodchuck has helped me in a couple areas too. But they're all good and deserving of a good look. Most important in my mind are the videos that have the best camera angle, lighting and occasional stop, rotate, giving a good look at the progress. Thanks for posting.
Hey Basswood carvings ! And everyone! I need help what is a couple of TH-cam creators that has the best videos that are from start to finish projects that are detailed ( character carving ) aside from Doug Linker ? Tu 👊🏼
If you want to see some extreme wood carving check out Alex Grabovetskiy's TH-cam channel or his web site. I've been following him for several years. Alex is in a whole different league then the carvers you high lighted. Anybody who's serious about wood carving should definitely check him out.
Thanks, my brother and his son have been inquiring about wood carving. I forwarded 4 of the top 10 to them! I really appreciate their willingness to share their talents and experiences.
Great recommendations! I do realistic fish carvings on my channel, but am a lowly power carver, so it's a whole other group there. I really love watching the traditional carvers though! 👍
My two top whittlers are doug linker and home wood spirit (vladimir) .for a beginner i would highly recommend home wood spirit on you tube, but i have watched many over the years and learnt from them all. ❤ whittling 😁
It was hard to choose the best carver amongst so many, but I do believe they all have their own styles and talents we can learn from. Thanks for checking out the video!
Watch a few other channels and would encourage you to watch those in this list as they are all excellent. Personally the one that got me into carving is I find the easiest to follow is Doug Linker. Love his videos and have carved most of the ones he does tutorials on (although not as well as he does them LOL). Thanks for putting this video together.
Yes, I agree with your comment about Gene's inspiration for woodcarving! He is humble talented man encouraging new carvers or reviving carvers ( like me)!
Nice that you made this video for anyone interested in carving,or ppl that just like to watch others turn nothing into amazing figures. I would love to carve like any of the ones you listed ive watched them all and they all bring great ideas. Have to say Doug and Lynn are 2 of my favorites.
Thank you for stopping by. I must say I have learned so much from watching and carving along with these great carvers that it was hard to choose the best. We are fortunate to have such a great community of people to learn from.

Thank you for your service, daughter is currently in the Army. Oil painting and wood carving is very therapeutic!
Thank You for your service! I too, started carving….. I have a very painful, rare medical condition and carving has saved me
Can't thank you enough for your service to this country. I hope this post finds you well and carving!

A few more to check out, Ryan cook, uncle kevin carves, Mark the maker. All excellent carvers and teachers good content.

Good stuff, thanks for the video. Doug Linker is my favorite, but I will have to give these others a try

Doug linker is the man, but I'll give the rest a try.
I really enjoy Doug's carving videos.
Doug Linker’s appeal, I think, is his ability to inject humor into his work and his knack of “inviting you in” to learn carving.
