I was on business in Eldoret almost 20 years ago. Went out for a jog one morning. Carrying around 115kg I was huffing and puffing my though around 5-5:15min/km when I heard the sound of horses behind me. I turned around to see a sea of human runners bearing down on me. They reached me within seconds, flew past me and literally left me in their dust.
Can you talk about your shoe rotation and how each shoe is performing? Mileage review. Thanks for sharing your journey, the people, and the training. Great series.
I do all my long runs on a mile long loop. It really helps me stay consistent and I am always close to water and rest rooms . Mentally I aways have another lap in me.
Love the daily posts! Interested to know how long you need to spend at altitude to gain the benefit and how long it lasts once you return to sea level? Enjoy the rest of the trip!
Hi Ben! Great series. I wonder if you're able to have some food before the early morning run if you want? Running fasted if you're not used to it can be rough
Every run no matter if it’s a long, recovery, tempo begins very slowly and then builds up for example a recovery run starts at 5:30/km and finishes at 3:50/km
I used to see travel videos and say I need to go but now I see this series and thinking I need to do this for a vacation. What a awesome training run and cool day you just had.
The Kenyans don’t seem to, especially not at the sub elite level. For the those sponsored with support vehicles yes. That and carb drinks from what I’ve seen
You starts long run pace from 4:20/km then finish 3:50/km in the altitude and in sea level if you do 25k progression run then from what pace you start and what pace to finish??
Wondering if you've had any stomach issues while there? I've had some bad luck while traveling in some countries, and especially at altitude, this would make training difficult but it hasn't seemed like you've had issues? What about other runners there?
I love seeing your daily videos Ben. Looks incredible and I was wondering how they handled dietary restrictions there. I am curious, what percentage of people speak English there and do you get any one-on-one coaching there?
@@BenIsRunning I would like to learn more about the general structure of training in Kenya. as far as I know it seems to me a fairly simple but effective scheme
Do not pay mzungu price for motorbike! 😂 Anywhere in Iten is 50shillings, easy to bump into drivers who ask double or even triple price for non-kenyan people but always negotiate!
Have you felt any benefits yet? Or do you think going back down to sea level you’ll see the improvements? What improvements are you expecting? Pace/recovery/ HR etc
It’s really only after adaptation back to sea level will you feel the benefit. Some take longer to adapt back and others not so long 👍 but at least 7/10days is not uncommon (in cycling anyway).
Benny, what initial kit made by SOAR do you recommend to begin with running?, (not too expensive) For someone who is averse to running, but you have Inspired me to pick up running for life!! Thank you you Bloody Bloke!!! All Da Best! GG!🤓
How do kenyan beginner runners manage to get such branded expensive running shoes even though most of them not belonging to a wealthy family. Just asking. Thank you ❤️
Ben, you just seem to be so happy there in Iten. Totally in your element…
Very diplomatic response to the cappuccino 😊

I watch all of your videos Ben but I’m really enjoying your Kenya experience series. Thank you so much for sharing 🙂👏
Loving this Kenya Experience vlog series... so insightful! Enjoy a lot and please keep sharing with us your experience over there
Love the Kenya trip! I wonder how long we are lucky to get more :)
Great experience no doubt and much appreciated you take the time to make the daily updates. This will benefit you for your Boston race. Crush it!
Loving these vlogs mate
You clearly love it there 🙂
I've followed Nina for some time. She is an amazing runner and fast.
Glad I stayed for the Q&A, I was like wait a second who asked the question I asked, oh he's responding to my question.
Great video Ben!!! Thanks for the content
Thanks a lot for the Q&A! Answered some of my questions :-) So much looking forward to it in August!

Nina 💪🔥❤️ Thanks Ben!
Thanks for the great series! Is this same kenyan camp the welsh runner did? Hope to go someday
It is indeed. Glad your enjoying it

Crazy its 5 in the morning and roads are already full of runners 😮
The early bird doesn't stay in the dorm 😀
I wish I knew you were coming to eldoret sports club I could have joined you for the run. When are coming to eldoret again?
Loving this content!
How do kenians warm up?
Every run no matter if it’s a long, recovery, tempo begins very slowly and then builds up for example a recovery run starts at 5:30/km and finishes at 3:50/km
They dont, they build different
@@BenIsRunning thanks mate! But no articular movements before? Just start running?
Great video Ben! Would you mind showing us the 45 minutes core routine that kenyans do?
Love this video!
you should get the prime x from the running shop. It was a very good deal for one of the best and most fun shoes out there
Can you make these videos longer? They are really good
Can you do a video on double threshold runs and how someone can incorporate them?
Super video! Loving it!!
I used to see travel videos and say I need to go but now I see this series and thinking I need to do this for a vacation. What a awesome training run and cool day you just had.
Do they use gels over there bro?

He really didn't like that coffee 😅
What is your opinion about local Kenyan food?
Can you talk about skincare? Running in the sun after living in the UK must be hard on your skin, curious what sunscreen you use

Also always struggled with this so would be interested to know the answer
If he had a stomach problem you would have known

Everyone speaks English
great video series, very interesting! Can u say more details about the structure of the workouts on a weekly or bi-weekly basis? thanks
For this Kenya experience package or my training in general :)
@@BenIsRunning I would like to learn more about the general structure of training in Kenya. as far as I know it seems to me a fairly simple but effective scheme
I might book up for some of this, is it any good for a 52 year old 5k runner?

How much is the flight? Can you do a budget, how much do you need to go in the camp and return to UK? Thanks
do you use coros pace 2 as ur default main watch?
What a great experience!

yeah
Very nice 👌🏼
thank you for the video, really nice series. For your long runs do you carry drinks with you, i did not see any, how do you manage the fueling?
Usually stash them somewhere so I can grab them. We had the luxury of grabbing them every 1.2k on this run
Are you still using the Insta360 go2 for running stuff Ben?
I am yes
Hi ben I have a question I am starting long runs and I need
Some advice on what distance to run can u please help me
What's the highest altitude? Can you reach the 3000 meters of altitude?
Benny, what initial kit made by SOAR do you recommend to begin with running?, (not too expensive) For someone who is averse to running, but you have Inspired me to pick up running for life!! Thank you you Bloody Bloke!!! All Da Best! GG!🤓
I’d recommend the long sleeves, I wear them the most but the tech in the singlets is also hard to beat. Extremely lightweight
@@BenIsRunning Thanks Ben,
👍👍👍
Thanks Ben. Hope you tune down / turn off the painfully generic poppy tunes during the running sequences.
SO SOON OMG!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

They don't, they use cheap Chinese knockoffs,
Thought you moved into ASMR at the start there
You don't look convinced on the cappuccino mate
BiR ASMR at the start
🍝
Her long acting insulin dose is high
Taking the easy flat option for the long run, not sure that’s what the Kenyans do Ben
