Very poignant advice. My mother used to say, that the only person who is at peace is one who is the same as their shadow. In this world, you never know what others' minds and hearts point towards, emotions are fleeting, what is today, might not be tomorrow. Thus, the only thing you can be sure of us your own heart, the best course of action is to be still.
I'm not long-living, I don't have any experience with relationships outside of family and a few friends, and math books older than my ancestors lol, but even in those scenarios, this advice has been golden.
