Yeah, looking at the roller sectioned grass compared to the non rolled section, I can see a difference and I never used a mower with any roller. I wondered why my Honda mower has that strip of rubber at the back, now I know. I also learned how a roller does it's job too, it is a good school day 😄.

Can’t beat a roller, takes me back to my childhood where I’d use dads hater harrier 2 and get those beautiful stripes. Good video thanks for sharing mate.

The main advantage of a rear roller rotary is the ability to cut over an edge. Second advantage is the smoothing effect of the roller pushing worm casts flat and leaving more pronounced stripes. Four wheeled mowers are awful long term if you want a traditional lawn. Cylinder mowing, as you know, is the way! Have a good Christmas!

👏 think along as you got nice flat lawns to cut then the rollers the choice .. most of mine are let's say have a lump or 50 in them so the 4 wheel mower is the best option and it climbs slopes well ..do have a 41 roller and the 48 I picked up which I'm looking forward to getting it up and working 💪... glad you took them mowers to the top of the garden where the washing is 👏👏😬

Yes a roller is good you can put stripes on the lawn with the yard brush pulling it behind you and walk up and down with it all you doing is flattening the grass👍👍👍

Definitely a roller to obtain a nice stripe on your lawn, I have been in the industry for over 35 years and used all sorts of machines so I am no novice. Heavier is better 👍

The first experiment is the same as the man left my lawn this week - it has stripes but only made by the mowers wheels. My Atco Balmoral 17” leaves well defined stripes and I would never change it while I am fit enuf to use it. 🤠🇬🇧🏴✔️

My old Hayter Harrier 56 does the best stripes out of my collection 👍
To me also looks like the roller is the way to go for the stripes very interesting video on the which would do better stripes.

A lot of things can make the difference such as the blades needs to be sharp, and pay more attention to where the wheels run coming back.

LOL, it’s totally dependent on the amount of beer consumed prior to mowing. ;-) I can’t walk a straight line so striping is out for me regardless of mower used.

I’m in the garden maintenance business and I have used a fair few mowers over the years.
The most reliable mower I’ve ever used and has never let me down has to be the masport rotarolla 18’’ 675xvs.
The most solid mower I own and the one I enjoy using the most is the Honda lawnflight pro 553hrs, although I have spent a few quid over the years on drive related issues!
Just purchased a Weibang legacy 56 pro and I’d say it’s alright 😂👍🏻

Yes mate I have seen it .. the main difference is that you cut your grass at a different length to us here.. try dragging a metal bar filled with cement behind the mower.. see what it does..

the trouble is a four wheel lawn mower wont smooth the bumps out eventauly and you cant go over the the edge of lawns save having to trim it with the strimmer and they dont leave ruts in the lawn especaily on a clay based soil

You can get lines with a wheeled mower I use one during winter months on lawns as the rollers tend to pick up mud and leave marks when turning

At the moment a sovereign ng464. I do what you do buy and fix and I take them out jobs with me to test to keep the neighbours happy haha great videos by the way mate

A wheeled mower will only do a subtle stripe and to be quite honest you'll probably do a better job with a broom shoved up you jacksie!
If you want a "Proper" stripe then a big heavy rollered machine is unbeatable! For instance the Dennis cylinder machines that produce what is known as the Dennis stripe, there's nothing that even comes close.
In fear of opening a can of worms here there are a number of ways to improve stripes, for instance length of cut, grooming and burning to start (no not burning as with fire)

Hi Mick. I use 2 different Honda's my izy only leaves wheels marks the HRB leaves perfect roller stripes.

Have a couple of old cylinder mowers with heavy rollers that leave fantastic stripes and stripes last a lot longer 4 wheel mowers will never leave proper stripes

@@kangaroojack7252 I would say not ... I have a Honda kaaz 553.. I have had a hayter and a masport ... The good thing about the kaaz is the gearbox is re build able. And with a 5.5 Honda engine it has lots of power.. hayters don't like cutting in the wet.. masport are hard to get parts for...

What you on about you can’t call that a Tru test you are cutting grass that is already cut and cutting the same lines lol yes it’s better to do it with a roller but it is definitely doable with a wheeled mower
i think oranges/apples apply here maybe language barrier stripes or lines and i also think the rubber that are on most mowers i work on are for stopping grass at high settings of wheels its all every ones opinion mick there like assholes everyone has one but there are no roller machines this side of pond so my opinion is based on nothing but observing your videos its only time i see mower with roller and reel mowers as well that have an engine although i just did 40 year old triple reel mower last year from golf club
