I was in a guitar center in north Dallas when Andy Timmons came in. I saw him and was star struck because the store had a 30 foot mural of Andy! I stood close by him and pretend to try some gear so as not to intrude or make him uncomfortable. I finally said hello and he was very nice. I saw him play a few weeks latter in deep elem at house of blues. He was amazing

I was invited to come meet the Molly Hatchet band in the 90s before a concert my friend booked for them. Our band played a lot of their songs that I sang in this particular city and had gotten them back on the radio. Everyone was nice except the singer Danny Joe Brown who was drunk and cussed me out as soon as I spoke to him. I later refused to accept his apology. His "supplier" tried to give me his stuff, mistaking me for him. I should have accepted it but there probably wouldn`t have been a show. I`ve never seen anyone put away that much whiskey.

@@baneverything5580I saw Molly Hatchet Back in like 2002 or 2003 when they were on tour with Nazareth, and Blackfoot. The Band sounded Great as far as the Molly Hatchet sound, but he was so freaking Drunk that he was slurring the words to all the songs. Flirting with Disaster was him Flirting with all the women up front with one of the classic Busch Beer, Beer Bellies of the days when I was growing up in the 80’s! LMAO. The only reason he was able to pull it off was due to the fact they were the Last Band after Blackfoot that night. So almost everyone was tilted one way or another by then. Lol. It was hilarious watching him up on the stage trying to make it work. But they did tho. Nazareth, should have been the second, and Blackfoot the closer that nite. I didn’t drink to much due to the fact I had to drive home which was about 200 miles. The show was just outside of Detroit in Clarkston at Pine Knob, and we lived up north Michigan. Otherwise I may not have noticed his slurring the lyrics so badly. 😂😂😂

@@yammak2004I saw them play in the early 2000s, and he was literally S#!+ faced when Molly Hatchet Came on as the Closer for Nazareth and Blackfoot.. So I would believe the drunk part at least. The rest is his story not ours. But I’m assuming your life must be boring or you never really lived, and had these crazy kind of things happen at some point in your life. Not trying to be rude at all like some other COLD people in this crazy world. Now here is one of those crazy stories that happened in my own life that was not planned, but took place wether you believe it or not! I’m sure you would have no idea that these kinda things happen to regular people. Back in winter of 2008 in Northern Michigan during a Bad Snowstorm I took my Girl, my Mother, and even my Grandmother to a Lover Boy Concert on Valentine’s Day at a huge resort in Travers City Mi, and it turned out to be an amazing show. My grandma never been to a rock concert but she wanted to check it out after my Gramps passed away. When the show finished up I as everyone was leaving i made sure we waited around to be the last because the concert was in this gigantic ballroom, and the stage was easily accessible to go up and stand by the side of it as everyone trickled out. Next thing happens was Mike Reno, and the lead axe man came back out the side door, and walked right up to us like normal people would because they saw my 65 year old Grandmother with us, and were literally intrigued by her presence at the show. 5 minutes later the rest of the guys came out as well. We ended up standing there bullshittin for about an hour n twenty minutes. They wouldn’t let anyone run us off at all. Mike Reno told Me they were gonna take Grandma on the next leg of their tour for about 3 weeks when they would be coming back through just north in Canada. He said they would toss her out of the door of the tour bus as they swung by.. Saying she would be okay because of the partying so it wouldn’t hurt. Lmao. It may not be that big of a deal to you, but I grew up when Lover Boy were one of the hottest band’s, and saw everyone of their Video’s being heavily rotated on MTV back then. Nobody else will ever be able to say Mike Reno was gonna turn their Grandmother into a Bus Groupie. I’m pretty sure it was a unique experience anyways. Sorry about this book. I just had to make a point here that not you nor anyone else knows the full extent of what happened with his experience at that MH show. I witnessed his drunkenness on stage myself, and I definitely believe that part so I’m liable to take the rest of the account as truth as well. Take care and don’t be shy, and you might have an true account to share with people!

George Lynch grew up in Paramount, CA. Not northern Cal. In his late teens-early 20s he moved to Norwalk, CA very near me. He is 5 years older. I took a few lessons from him at his apartment down the street. He came to my house several times. His mom met my mom. I also met his father (separated parents) who didn’t approve of George’s musical aspirations. In my early twenties, I accidentally formed a pro band with two of his friends from the Paramount middle to high school years. We frequently visited each other’s studios, partied together, and it was like a big extended family with a total of 15 musicians from the same schools who had periodically formed a variety of bands amongst themselves and a few others.
Two guys ended up in the Plimsouls band with Pete Case, and some of you may remember it look their numerous radio hits like “A Million Miles Away”, “Now”, “Zero Hour”, etc.
I played with them! A little of Beetles and other ‘60s covers.
It was a very diverse and very musically fruitful group of musicians.
Those were amazing people and some of my most memorable years.
Oh, and I was close friends with Ed Van Halen, who had a crosstown rivalry with George. Been in his old Pasadena house, where he played piano masterpieces by Chopin, Beethoven, etc.
I wouldn’t really try to emulate Ed, just grab a few techniques and refined my touch and expanded my own style.
I was also extremely fortunate to also take classical guitar lessons from Randy Rhodes!
    Super sweet guy. RIP.

@@blandopher you’re more than welcome, it’s my great pleasure not only share, which until recently been reluctant to share, but my physician Dr Kaslow, MD FACS, QME, one of the top MDs, told me it was literally damaging my physical health to keep so many secrets close to the vest.
So- whenever appropriate, I share stuff to relieve the pressure, so to speak.
It was very fortunate, and formative, to be close to those greats, who entertained me as more than a mere fan or hater. They all had envious haters, who once in a while - in my presence- approached and unbelievably dissed them.
      Their loss.
Myself, I did some studio sessions in the valley and Hollywood. Was invited & did go to Studio Cafe, a tiny club with 90% studio jazz musicians. I was highly under qualified, but asked to perform. I played blues with a studio drummer and bass player, both of whom I never met before. I got cheers, more for my technique than being theory educated. I hit some bad notes on the jazzy changes.
Oh well…but I’m learning more theory recently.
Now 90% of my time I learn, then whatever guitar I touch, in any genre or style, I’m quicker to get it. Even piano.

@@erichkaanikin3555 Hey man. You do have a story for sure and God bless ya! So you prob. have a couple yrs on me if you were peers with Ed, RR, Lynch, etc. I`m 56 so you dudes were influencing me. I picked up the guitar in 1979-80, actually because I heard an old James Gang album and Joe Walsh made something in me HAVE to play the guitar. And of course Ed had to come along and make me work!!! LOL, I was playing 4 to 6 hours a day cuz of that bastage! Yeah, he just made me push hard to get my chops up, clean up, and become a very technique obsessed player, which leads me to the question I have. THEORY. I hate math, and I think I have a hard time with theory, rather I try to avoid it due to math. Anything you can tell me concerning theory, rather how to approach it I guess. Hard teachin an old dog new tricks! Cheers Eric!!

In my life, I have been truly fortunate to have met and actually hung out with a few of my musical idols - Andy Timmons and Satch, to name just two.
True story: a number of years ago, Andy and band came to Hong Kong where I am currently based. You bet your ass I grabbed tix ASAP. The venue was a fairly nice western style restaurant with a quite decent sized stage and surprisingly good sound system. No surprise that Andy played and sounded SUPERB. His live tone is just heartachingly beautiful.
I could go on and on, but here's why that night will be forever special to me.
I attended the show with a Frenchman living in HK who was also a Timmons/Satch guitar music freak. Buzzing from the show, a few days after, he and I went to Tom Lee Music flagship store - Tom Lee being the GC of Hong Kong [kinda]. There we saw and played through the exact Mesa Lonestar 50 head and cab that Andy himself had just rented and used for the show. The backline gear.
My fairly well-heeled buddy grabbed them both.
Unfortunately, neither had Andy's signature, but it didn't matter to my friend and I. Just the fact that Andy had used that gear was incredible enough.
Going back to the night of the show....I bumped into Andy coming out of the men's room. Yes, you heard that right. I gushed like a teenage girl to him for a minute and plead with him to allow me to buy him a beer.
Well, my friend and I ended up hanging out with Andy for a couple of hours at the bar. We covered everything from how much we loved and appreciated Andy's music to his experiences with Satch and all the other amazing guitarists out there all the way to uber geeky stuff like gear and how frickin cool it is that Andy can;t help but dance and tap his feet when he's really feeling it. And he did a lot of that that night.
Had his schedule been different, I would have been able to show Andy around HK a bit and take him to sample local HK delicacies and cuisine like dim sum, etc....
For the record, I am ethnically of Hong Kong descent but born and raised in New York City. So I often speak with a hybrid Brooklyn/Manhattan/Queens accent XD
Bottom line: there are many reasons why you just have never heard of any kind of silly drama with legends like Timmons and Satch [and even Gilbert and Petrucci]. But the main reason is that they are all the most humble, nicest, genuine human beings around, with absolutely ZERO rock star attitude.
    FACTS.

Really awesome that Andy mentions Larry Carlton and the Ventures. I am lucky enough to have a guitar player Dad who introduced me to Larry and the Ventures. Larry, Satriani, Andy, Eddie... they can "speak" to us. Lots of notes is cool, but, they transcend the flurries of notes with their feel. Andy has some seriously excellent material and has gotten better and better with age.

totally a fan of Andy's ,I'd like to see him get included in more of the large guitar and tribute concerts and events. he should check out Mateo Mancuso if he wants to hear an incredible fairly new groundbreaking Guitarist . I really enjoy Andy's playing on Simons Phillips Protocal it's proof of evolution of his playing

Steve Hackett did the tapping thing in the early 70’s as well.

If you do your research you’ll find out that Eddie actually say Harvey Mandel from Canned Heat tap to begin with at The Wiskey in and around 1974.

I am friends with the collector who owns AT's (my favorite is the Flintstone's guitar) guitars (his initials are JM). Want to talk about a great collection of 80's guitars including quite a few famous guitars, his is it. Over 200, last I heard.

I like Andy, and I have mega respect for his playing, and I love a lot of the players he mentioned like SRV, Satch, and Eric Johnson. But kinda like the interview a few episodes back that went off on a Randy Rhoads tangent, there just wasn’t much EVH talk in this one. You should try to get Dweezil Zappa on. I know he’s a massive Ed fan and will stay on track on what we all tune in for…Eddie Van Halen!!!

    • @FinalResonanceTV
      @FinalResonanceTV  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Stay Tuned for the next one. It should be chalked full of EVH content and a huge name. I realize we do go off on tangents at times and it’s kind of an editing decision to leave them or not. I cut about 18 mins out of this on Olivia Newton John. I do think Andy had some really good points and added context and what a nice guy! Trust me, if I get this Interview in Friday… you’re gonna get a Christmas Present 🎉 Cross your fingers! I appreciate you watching and your feedback.

Hi! I am interested in buying this system to hear myself singing while playing live. Do I just plug the transmitter into a wall outlet and then I'm good to go? Or do I need to buy something else? For example in order to use the xvive system you need to plug the transmitter into a mixer, so I'm asking if this system is all i need to get it working or if I need anything else? thank you!

And Van Halen 3 was a great album it just needed a little bit more fine tuning I think and it would have been way more received by Van Halen fan I grew up in Boston so I have followed Gary and Nuno with extreme since the days they played in clubs. Gary did an amazing job he was stuck in a position between Dave and Sammy and it was awesome to hear them do some older songs that the fans had not heard in years

TO THE HOST HERE ON THIS VIDEO, ITS THE FIRST TIME I AM SEEING ONE OF YOUR VIDEOS AND WATCHED THIS ONE ALL THE WAY THROUGH, BUT YOUR NAME WAS NEVER MENTIONED. I WANTED TO TELL YOU BOTH ( ANDY AND YOU ) THAT ONE OF THE VERY FIRST HIGH QUALITY INSTRUMENTALISTS TO BRING INSTRUMENTALS ON GUITAR TO THE WORLD, WORLD WIDE, ( THAT YOU BOTH NEVER MENTIONED ) WAS CARLOS SANTANA! HE MADE HIS GUITAR SING AND CRY, AND HAD VERY SOULFUL MUSIC. ALSO JOE SATRIANI'S FIRST RELEASE WAS NOT "SURFING WITH THE ALIEN". IT WAS "NOT OF THIS EARTH" 1986 ( IF YOU HAVENT HEARD THAT ALBUM? YOU REALLY NEED TO ) EDDIE WAS THE NEXT GUITARIST TO TAKE GUITAR TO THE NEXT LEVEL AFTER JIMI HENDRIX ( BUT, I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED TO LEARN THAT JIMI HENDRIX TOOK A LOT OF HIS STYLE AND SOUNDS FROM BUDDY GUY! ) IF YOU LOOK AND LISTEN TO THE LIVE VIDEOS OF THE OLD RECORDED SHOW BUDDY DID? YOU WILL SEE THAT RIGHT AWAY! SO JIMI REALLY WASNT AS UNIQUE AS WE ALL FIRST THOUGHT ( OR STILL THINK ) YES, JIMI WENT ON TO MAKE SOME UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL GUITAR PLAYING MUSIC, BUT! HIS FOUNDATIONAL APPROACH AND STYLE WAS TAKEN FROM BUDDY GUY! SO THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING. BUDDY GUY SHOULD BE GETTING ALL THE RECOGNITION THAT JIMI GOT. BUT IT WAS EDDIE VAN HALEN THAT REALLY HAD HIS VERY OWN UNIQUE STYLE, APPROACH AND SOUND, AND THAT TOOK GUITAR TO THE NEXT LEVEL! IM SURE HE INFLUENCED MANY OF THE "GREAT GUITARISTS" THAT WONT ADMIT THAT EDDIE HAD SUCH AN IMPACT ON THEM. A LOT OF THEM DO ADMIT IT, BUT IM SURE MANY OTHERS WONT. ITS AN EGO THING. BUT EDDIE WAS GREAT! JIMMY PAGE WAS GREAT TOO, BUT HE DID MOST OF HIS MAGIC IN THE STUDIO WITH THE PRODUCTION. LIVE HE WAS NEVER AS GOOD AS THE RECORDS. JOE SATRIANI WAS THE NEXT GUY TO TAKE GUITAR TO THE NEXT LEVEL! ANDY TIMMONS IS ALSO ONE OF MY OWN TOP 5 MAIN INFLUENCES AND INSPIRATIONS FOR MY OWN GUITAR PLAYING.. ( THANK YOU ANDY! YOU DO HAVE A STYLE, VOCABULARY, AND SOUND ALL OF YOUR OWN TOO, AND I LIKE IT! ) OK, WELL, I THINK WHATS MOST IMPORTANT FOR US ALL TO KEEP IN MIND, IS WHAT ANDY SAID HERE, IN THAT, ITS GREAT THAT VARIOUS MUSICIANS INSPIRE US OR MOTIVATE US OR EVEN CAPTIVATE US TO A POINT, BUT THE REAL ISSUE IS THAT WE ARE UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS AND WE NEED TO FIND OUR OWN STYLE AND SOUNDS! THAT IS WHAT EDDIE DID, THAT IS WHAT JIMI DID, THAT IS ANYONE WHO IS ANYONE ON GUITAR OR ANY OTHER INSTRUMENT DID... I LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING EDDIE IN HEAVEN SOME DAY! ( AND PRINCE TOO )

Would help to ask questions that lead the person interviewed to share while the interviewer stays quiet.
Its all too familiar for the interviewer to be stating his thoughts and asking the interviewee to agree with it in effect, what happens you dint get an answer because you have closed iff the response...admire the sentiment but thats a deficiency to testify and asky the interviewee to agree with it..
How did Eddie influence you? What about his sound influenced you? What tour favorite EVH album, song?
Ask questions and get out of if the way...bet youd get better responses

Van Halen III was Ed’s fault. He wanted total creative control and didn’t want Gary’s input and it shows. Steve Hackett from Genesis was tapping in the early 70’s.

Very good interview with a great guitar icon. But the title seems like click bait since Andy Timmons said he never met Edward Van Halen... #what VH story?...

    • @FinalResonanceTV
      @FinalResonanceTV  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

The title came from a discussion we had about his undeniable aura, something he shared with Olivia. Tune in for the next one. If it goes down like it’s supposed to there will be very “first hand” information and stories. But I don’t want to say cause I might jinx myself lol

First album in 78 Eddie was a few years behind the first bonafide "guitar gods". I think he rose to the level he did because of that reason. He saw the flare and style and fashion. He saw the stance and the hair and pose and made it all his own .The best of. Extremely photogenic . His smile and his leaping through the air is a total package.
As far as KISS goes, YIKES! Stinko! ugly fake transparent BASIC gimmick child music. such a turn off watching players pose and pucker their lips and point out at the crowd with their index finger hahahahahahah oh brother.

Yeah this is because I’m using my phone as a webcam and a 42 in TV as a monitor really close to me. Still working out the bugs on the new setup. People were complaining about the audio and video quality. So I spent 2-3k to fix that and well… I still haven’t got it totally worked out. But thanks for the feedback. I’ll use the follow the speaker option to try and make it less distracting on this next one.
