Those divits on that shaft are machined in you could never tighten that driveshaft enough to put those in there no matter how soft the metal is! FYI i have an ebay scx10.2 clone made by austar $125 with those same tires and stays right with my axial scx10.2. Been running it for over 2yrs now and nothing has broken. The only thing i did to it was a holmes 13t crawlmaster motor and brass weights in the front wheels its a good truck for the money
I've had my trx4 sport and regular trx4 g500. I've never had the trans apart or the rear axles. Also, the divets are made like that. Even the axles they sell are built like that. I just punch the hole on through.

I have 3 scx10 clones I use as part doners for weird concept builds like a full 3d printed chassis and a tonka truck build. I'm happy with them so far. If I find a deal on this one I'll give it a try too
I’ve ran the axial copied one for three years. the axles suck diffs are soft metal ..(even worse than the Gmade pot metal diffs on the gs01 .if you’ve got a heavy rig don’t bother with gs01 axles ) so got swapped for some spare ar44’s the rest hasn’t had any problems .makes a great trail truck has done for the last three years without any more breakages than my axial crawlers

Now all clones are just as good and some are better I know I have a couple fo example I have the cloned Tamiya Bruiser frome like 1984 or 85 and they were around $800 in the 80s anyway as soon as I saw a clone called HGP 407 it looks so much like it you can only think they used the same dies to make the metal axles and it's got a all metal 3 gear transmission it's leaf sprung just like original and it was rtr for $200.00 and in 1985 it was so advanced I guess they wanted certain people could have it that's alot of money!!!!
I really don't know as much about RC's as I have only been at it for 2 years now. I wish I had started sooner but many of the cars are out of my reach price wise. Still I have fun with what I have. When it comes to RC clones I think your absolutely right about their value and performance. It's hit and miss. Tamiya brand RC's really hold their value from what I can tell. @@thebigsho665
Have had my original defender for about 6 years now bought one of the first to oahu hawaii and have had 0 issues nd I beat on it good even my shift nd lockout servos are still going strong last month just replaced the steering servo for a better waterproofed one and put a Holmes hobby 21t brushed motor and hobby wing 1080 best truck on the market imo gonna put on my brass front portals today it’s been so much fun with this truck cannot recommend enough has been everywhere I have trailfinders scx10s the whole 9 always go back to my trx for some killah rock action cheeeehoooo
I've had a TRX-4 sport for a number of years and drive it hard. I've not had a single problem with it. I would take a used TRX-4 over this clone every time. But I'm interested to see how tough it is considering the price.

Regarding the clone, overall, they did do an extremely good job. Obviously, the plastic gears will be a problem...but, other than that, pretty darn close. Here's an 'interesting' question. Briefly referencing what happened a couple weeks ago (enough has been said about it that it doesn't need to be outright stated)...moving forward, is everyone (with the exception of those who have a strong 'connection' to the company, ex. MSM) going to be 'afraid' to even say the word "Traxxas" in their videos?
Have you checked out their TRX4m clone? Yup they cloned that too. It’s the AUSTAR AX-8560. It’s actually an impressive little crawler especially for the price

it all comes to the money you pay at first . no matter what there are the standard upgrades such as servos, motor , esc , tires ,etc , etc , so it dont really matter what brand it is all long as it works . i got rid of all my rc''s and just keep my savage its 20 years old and dont break the only thing new is a powerhobby $30 servo

Most likely someone just reverse engineered a TRX-4 and made tooling for it, this has happened before with other infamous clones (WL toys Twin hammer, Rovan Baja, Remo hobby, and Tamiya TL-01 clones to name a few)
Traxxas is one of those companies that really deserve a cheap knock-off 😂 Soon they will have law suits all over the place and no budget for anything else
I can see the obvious savings, but the $350 basic TRX4 Sport started my journey 4 years ago and after discovering how tough, reliable, and factory-supported they are after purchase I recently sprung for a High Trail with all the bells and whistles. IMO the $300 saved on this clone cannot match the proven record and factory support afforded by Traxxas.
They do not support the community just their wallets. Its entry grade at best. Go to any crawler comp or racing, and you will not see traxass being used.

I've ordered those ebay metal driveshafts on a 4 WD solid axle basher once. You'd think they're tough given they're metal but they break where it pivots or where the pin is. Better off with plastic driveshafts honestly. Also while I like a deal as much as the next guy, intellectual property theft isn't cool. Choose accordingly folks.

Trial running Is what you meant. Nobody is "crawling" with a trx4, unless it has the mods that Traxass does not want you to have.

When you make enough aftermarket parts for a specific platform, you'll be able to just bolt them together after a while and have your self made rig.

The Traxass rod ends are one of the few things that nobody seems to equal ( not counting rpm). One of my go to parts for any custom build
