It’s a smart move, golf is again at a tipping point where it is max popularity, and therefore max greed, but at the same time costs are getting out of hand both at the course and equipment level. Many have already pointed it out, but $700 drivers, $1500 iron sets, $500 putters are ridiculous coupled with $70/80/90 rates to play 5 hr rounds. So long as they don’t have supply or material issues and they can keep their margins healthy it is a smart move. I am willing to bet nobody gets any appreciable money or sponsorship, they probably get a healthy cut of sales (Ala affiliate style) and free gear. It is also a self feeding marketing machine, notice how all the Takomo golfers golf together, or likely will (my guess is as part of their “deal”).IMO.
James Robinson has a Next 100 series with Tokomo Every Sunday he releases a video using Tokomo Irons and Seed balls He's also recently had his Tokomo irons retro fitted with LA Golf shafts
Quality equipment and savvy marketing. Brilliant move to chase TH-cam golf. Pro golf took a nose dive after Liv and TH-cam not only took up the slack but took over viewers. Shout out to the OG Rick Shiels, and a major tip of the cap to Goodgood as well.
Just to be clear, Takomo didn’t “sign” Grant, they made Grant a PARTNER! He will get paid based on Takomo sales! Brilliant move by both Grant and Takomo!
Takomo will not be a long term player until they pair with a 2ndSwing or Global Golf to retain some resale/trade value. I have almost pulled the trigger after a few late night TH-cam binges but the $50 shipping is a deal breaker.
Cariuma shoes did this in skateboard. A company appears out of nowhere and throws tons of money at a bunch of social media creators. It'll work for a while, but ultimately won't have the funds or the resources that the bigger brands do. They'll "most likely" end up being a "meh, theyre whatever" brand.
I play Takomo 101t which I got 2 years ago. They are an absolute copy of Taylormade in a Chinese factory which stamps logos for different companies. Caley Golf irons are the exact clubs as Takomo with design names similar to Tokomo. Ever contacted Takomo? They do not care about you after the purchase. Go ahead contact them and see. You will not get return contact nor replace a club without buying a full set. My clubs came in with a lift truck fork thru the box and there answer was not our fault. Much better customer service, much better customization and building whatever you want, and their irons win on the pro tours. Really no comparison - the US company is better. Anyone can order the blanks that become Takomo irons out of a catalog.
Exactly. And for those reasons, New Level is the superior choice. Cannot beat the performance. They have several wins on tour. Their 702 lineup is super. They also have a more durable finish. Take a look at a set of used Takomos and they don’t look as good.

Grant Horvat is still sponsored by Taylormade. Hmmm. This just means don't pay attention to sponsorship of non-PGA-tour players. Unless a sponsored person is playing for money, it means nothing.
I think one day they will... And all the other dtc companies as well, tours edge made arguably the best driver of 2024, these big companies should be worried because more people are leaning towards these dtc companies because of performance with a cheaper price tag

The only issue with Takomo is their lack of custom options. Mixed sets + more shafts and they will dominate the scene

Phil Mickelson probably. Just watch😉
