I agree I currently work for saia and I'm considering leaving they just gave us a raise but hired more people so they can cap our hours... Saia is a good company but they just don't have the freight to support the hours they did lift the phone ban we can talk on our phones

My uncle worked at Saia for nearly 20 years. Really good company but a change in management led to him leaving. He works for Estes now. I work at XPO Logistics. It was very stressful my first six months but I stuck it out and eventually got settled in. Don’t know if I’ll retire here but I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
the first 6 months with any company is stressful and takes time to settle in. most managers already know this and they're watching to see if you make it. anyone who gives you an interview -should- know this and they're asking you questions and checking your resume looking for "grit." grit is a persons ability to continue to go to work daily even though shit sucks and they hate it. a person with a high level of grit will work for them for a year or two at least, through the good and bad times, through the bullshit. by then, they're a regular full time guy in a long term plan. that's the employee everyone wants. i dont know anything about XPO. i hope they're a good company and i hope you're doing good now.

For sure bro! Well it depends on the hours you get , we use to not pay overtime but starting the 18th we do . So it all depends I’d say the lowest you’d ever make would have to be 73-75

Pretty much all LTL carriers available in my area of Nashville. Where I’m at now don’t pay shit compared to other LTL companies. Getting .55cpm with $12 drop/hook.

@@ethansills6158 yeah your experience doesn’t matter to them as long as you have that restriction, look into them and call the terminal near you to see if they’d hire you with it , places like ACT , SAIA & averitt will hire you with the restriction. Also you need al your endorsements as well .

Yes sir , not saying union companies are bad Bc I’d love to work for ABF my self but they’re also known for a lot of layoffs . It’s a 50/50 .shot you’ll work year round til you build seniority. It’d be better to go with someone likes FedEx , xpo , or Estes . I’d recommend old dominion but even tho they’re not union they’ll lay you off as well if it helps their numbers .
Didn’t wanna run system for 6-8 years for a bid run . Birmingham was very small . There’s system drivers who’ve been in the system for 6 years . I loved saia and if BHM was bigger I woulda stayed . Cameras didn’t bother me that much

i am 18 and currently about to graduate high school next week and was thinking about going into trucking. i’ve heard that SEFL hires at 18 for box trucks? does anyone have any info on people who want to get into trucking at 18. i know it’s hard to find a company that will due to only being able to drive intrastate and of course insurance reasons.

There’s not a recruiter for southeastern that I know of , you’d have to call the terminal and talk to the terminal manager

Some LTL’s will hire you with a permit and train you all depends on the need in that area .

Yeah barely . I got over time the first month I was there but after that basically kept me at 43-45 hours
