8 year ABF Road Driver. It’s about as good as it can get. Worked for Roadway and Yellow 18 years. ABF hands down is my favorite. You get the keys and they expect that you’ll do the job. They leave you alone and treat you with respect. New equipment every year and they push the older tractors off the road after 3 years. Looking at retirement in a few years. My children, wife and I have always had great healthcare, dental and vision paying out only a 10-20 dollar co pay. Lots of discounts gym memberships etc. too many to list.
They do expect you to work weekends and holidays like a big boy/girl, but if you’re an extra board driver, you can work in days off like an expert.
    Peace

I work at Old Dominion but abf was always my second choice if something happened… until I got hired part time starting at 16 in the LA area. I quit after a week since I was full time dock at odfl at $30 an hour after 2 years
Old dominion is the best ltl and we have the awards and recognition and customers to prove it

Worked for ABF as a casual didn't get hired due to no CDL but now with CDL I'm hoping to go back and I'm currently at Yellow freight and with all the bullstuff going on here we are jumping out. I worked at YRC and didn't get proper training from my roadway trainer. Then went to ABF and I was in the best training barn. Not only one trainer but the rest try to help out 👍. Came back to YRC and I was loading like an ABF employee haha.

Thank You Anthony for Giving ABF love, I am a former ABF driver and Now I am a Ops Supervisor for the ArcBest company, ONLY place on LTL they treat you with Respect!! You will hear the ODFL, Saia, FedEx, Etc…. Saying “ah the starting rate it’s trash, Blah, blah, blah”. But what they forget to disclose is how much they pay for health insurance and that in the case of ODFL they Dont get paid OT until after 50 hrs worked, and ODFL is smart enough to not
Let their drivers even sniff close to 50 hrs, FedEx and Saia are almost the same, here at ABF you get paid OT after 8 hrs worked every day, and double time if you worked your 6th day, and and a FAT pension after you are all set and done paid 100% by ABF. ABF Freight is finalizing our new contract with the Teamsters. Contracts are negotiated every 5 years. ABF has dock city and line haul. I’m a line haul driver out of Vegas. Our new contract is $30 an hour and .75 cents per mile. Line haul drivers do not deliver or work the dock. We get paid per mile while driving but get paid the hourly rate for any other work. Some examples are drop and hook, fueling and waiting to get something fixed. We also get paid if they keep you at the hotel for longer than 12 hours.

All supervisors address all drivers as Mr. So and so. They also treat you as an adult and hand you the keys and just assume you will get the job done. They don't micro manage drivers. Union has rules which prevent favoritism, so everything is transparent and above board which makes for great attitudes and atmosphere. Best thing i evercdid was to go TO Work for ABF.

Actually, I would like to see you do a video sometime about Teamster LTL’s and what our Union dues. I don’t seem to be believed that at the moment all we pay is $68.00 per month, that’s it. We don’t know pay a dime per our healthcare or for our pension. Only thing we have is a copayment for office visits or emergency room visits. Everyone is under this ridiculous misconception that we pay hundreds a month for dues. That’s just not correct. I’ve literally had to show a pay stub once to a buddy because he thought I wasn’t aware of how much they were taking from me. Imagine that. Now since we just see ratified a new 5 year contract which gave us a significant pay raise it’ll go up about roughly $3 a month because it’s based on a percentage of pay. I just don’t know exactly what the figure will look like, but it’ll probably an extra 3. Guy’s don’t understand what they make today is because of organized labor. Company’s don’t want them, so they’ll pay more to keep folks happy. Unfortunately, they’re not getting fully compensated for what they do.
