Holding a conference for 100s of attendees + 100s of hangers-on on top of a remote mountain in the alps, at the height of winter, and all in nice business clothes, is an example of global-warming prevention.😅

Excess savings especially in the developed world have disappeared
With all the cash splash over covid years, and now excess savings all gone, one should ask:
Where have all that savings gone to?
It basically means the wealth in the economy have funneled into certain powerful groups, with the wealth of the riches few growing significantly.

"Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you."

The meetings were beautifully organized and conducted by well-known journalists. I have only one criticism: the cameras never show the names of the exhibitors next to their seats, which should be highlighted with their name, surname, and professional title superimposed on the screen. The topic is too important not to know who the exhibitors or interviewees are.

Why is everyone suffering from high inflation? That's because your understanding kf growth is by investing and reinvesting into the same assets such as real estates, stocks, etc.. That's why normal people keep having rent / lease artificially getting inflated values. I am sure Buffett will agree 😂

    • @johnkillen588
      @johnkillen588 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@johnkillen588 Yeah, that's already a long time because what used to be priced at 100K now after 40 years reached 1.5 Million. If we think about it, where did all this valuation come from? It's the constant and repetitive reinvestment into real estates or stocks.

The world is not a test! The optimum theory is based on two important assumptions:
    1. The proportion of working population to total population remains constant as the population of the country increases.
    2. As the population of a country increases, the natural resources, the capital stock and state of technology remain unchanged.

NICE COMMENTS OF THE GERMANY'S REPRESENTATIVE REGARDING FUNDING FOR ELECTRICITY IN AFRICAN COUNTRIES TO DECREASE CARBON EMISSIONS SINCE PROBABLY THEY NEED TO BURN WOODS TO COOK FOOD AND LIGHTING. THIS WAY, THEY EVEN CONTRIBUTE TO THE GROWTH OF THAT COUNTRY WHILE ADDRESS THE CARBON EMISSIONS.

The carbon emissions is crap..every 10 years it is something, im 55 years old and I have seen "hole in the ozone layer" melting of ice caps" " acid rain" ..and more..it is just a way to change what they want with people backing them up...they are actually using it to shut down food supplies, going after farms, (and now Bill Gates owns the most farm land in America and he is pushing lab grown meat) now they are trying to stop people from having small gardens because of carbon...if they really cared ..stop making plastic, that is what's destroying the ocean and land and us...but to much money is made off of it..think about it..

Hi World economic forum. I get EBT. Here in the United States.. I worked in food and beverage my whole life. Two to three jobs. I enjoyed work. I love people. I worked in five star hotels. Also worked in Doe. I've experienced losing a house to a mortgage. I've been in a homeless shelter. When I had a house with a mortgage family drama. I've had to go to the food bank a few times. The food bank of people like to buy food they think you want instead of giving food that they would eat and giving someone a new experience. My bottom take on all this and many stuff for the economy is food people are starving actually. A good food good drink a comfort satisfaction and enjoy there's the base of the economy I would have to say. And then all the complexities that go along with after that and everything cuz people go to work I've done it with a friend we had no money while everybody's you know going off to the restaurant next door or getting a good meal and we shared some McNuggets I had like $5 we laughed about it but this is real.

This was a surprisingly apt description of the principal problems facing global economic trends and trade. I also do think the 2 OECD initiatives on tax are outstanding - except that the rate is too low! - & hope they are ratified. I doubt very much I'll agree with the other proposed solutions, but at least they've got the problems right.

Why is everyone suffering from high inflation? That's because your understanding kf growth is by investing and reinvesting into the same assets such as real estates, stocks, etc.. That's why normal people keep having rent / lease artificially getting inflated values. I am sure Buffett will agree

I've grown food I had a friend develop a state of the art hydroponic system. I grew hydroponic lettuce I started with full heads of romaine and then the business the market wanted baby lettuce I grew up. I went to farmers markets I sold into stores you know all over. Farming for an individual a consistency is kind of hard especially when a restaurant has it on a menu and now a special maybe but if you don't have it it's already written on the menu so maybe a special item for a local farmer. We have so many techniques of farming and everybody's got different stuff you know prawns are good I mean there's so many good food you know we don't just need one type of food. I work so much that's why I just get Hands-On work stuff. This is how I learned how to swim at 4 years old drop me in a swimming pool and see if I come up LOL that was the thing back in the day in LA. So they set me up. So here's a suggestion big businesses yeah you know where is your food court Lowell hotels do it but anyway lots of good stuff to do but food and good drink and cold and hot don't forget those ice cubes. Crushed good too.

On my modest opinion, the number one global priority would be the fight against corruption in the broadest sense and from on individual level. to family, neighborhood, village, city, province, country, union, continent and global level. This should encompass privat and public sector and all professions, but first and foremost politician/decision makers. That is the main caveat of any progress and a global social contract. The second most important issue in the world today, is the existence of extremely antagonist system. One one side we have the developed economies and societies which rely on liberal democracy, and on the other side we have emerging and underdeveloped economies and societies that rely on dictatorship or autocracy, which, as mentioned above, are fundamentally different on their goals and priorities. When the liberal democracy system will prevail in the whole world and countries will let go ideologies proven by time either part of the past or as failures, ie communism, socialism, autocracy, dictatorship, imperial, monarchic etc, then a global cohesion and synergy will be created. Only then, can the world deeply reform the imperfect liberal democracy.

Oh Dear! Every few years we see the same recommendations - "this new normal" is the same as the last "new normal! I think the underlying currents that one of the speakers highlighted - aging population, political polarisation, climate and stupid wars sums up what needs to be tackled. The problem is all this talk and words are true, but needs action and good leadership.

Saudi Minister was actually correct, *definition of insanity is doing same thing and expecting different results.* Need to find different approach or solutions, *agree with the German minster who said a better solution would be carbon credit based system, which helps both low income countries and at same time help to start work to address the problem at hand, since the problem is global in nature.* Carbon tax by rich countries will mean manufacturing will be limited to richer nations and add as barrier to products from developing/under developed to sell to developed world, this will have opposite effect and will force developed/under developed countries to put in a structure of Historic Carbon tax on developed nations. And we will achieve nothing, but increase problems, and grow the difference between have and have not's in the world.

@@kialim I was about to say that. Opps. I was mindful that he who spoke the truth is the most hated. Yes you are right. Following Tharman advise will hurt Saudi pocket. That's why the most uncivilized reply from Saudi Minister which is unbecoming of a Minister. The rest of panelist are very civilise. The Nigerian Lady minister had agreed with Tharman and are were those audiences who clap after Tharman spoke finish.
