Also Elin you had a video a while ago that you talked about putting everything in the dishwasher ( pots and pans and stuff people hand wash) and that wash a game changer for me! I throw everything in there now and I love it! If it can’t survive the dishwasher then I don’t need it in our house.
I agree with you, I have a divided laundry hamper from Walmart some years back. 3 removable inserts so I can grab 1 inserts- lights, darks and linens/towels. When 1 fills up I do that load.
It must be lovely to have a washing machine. I AM the washing machine, but am okay with that, as I have handwashed for a very long time now. I agree that staying on top of the mess is SO important!!! YES. Less stuff = easier to maintain!! So true. Great tips.
When I lived in a place that didn't have a washer and dryer I had to use the local laundromat. I dreaded having to lug my laundry there every Saturday morning as soon as they opened in order to avoid having to wait for a machine. Once I found a place with a washer and dryer set it became so easy to stay on top of my laundry by doing a load every day or two.
Really good points! I'm a similar vein, becoming a person who regularly refuses items has made a big difference too. I don't want a shirt for volunteering, I'm not keeping the stuff my mom gives me because she wants to shop for cheap things online, I'm not a person who accepts merch because it's free. My house is littered with those things, that I have to store, maintain, or find uses for. Just gonna be known as a grump, and folks know not to do that to me now.
Great tips. Since i live alone, laundry is not a problem for me at all. I typically do three loads each saturday. And I put it all away right away. However, keeping the kitchen clean is more problematic. I don't use my dishwasher. Not even sure that it works. I really prefer washing by hand (one way to keep my hands warm when it gets cold.) Thank you for the ideas and concepts. (BTW, I am so confused about when you had your daughter. I realize that you filmed in advance, but you just said you had her three months ago? That seems unreal. I know you are keeping some things private, which I respect. I hope all is going well!)
This was very good info for me. I’ve mastered the de-cluttering and def buying less. Keeping my kitchen spotless is still a ‘work in progress’ because I cook a lot so maybe using that dishwasher more is something I should do. Love listening to your practical and sensible advice. Thank you 😍
Great video Elin! I do all these tips on the regular as well and it makes such a difference. Keeping control of the laundry monster is top priority in our home too.
Great video!! Thanks! ❤ I'm a new mom too!! My baby girl is 4 months old so I think we are pretty much in the same path with them, isn't it great? 😊 BTW where is your hamper with dividers from?? I love that it's divided AND you can take the separated parts with you when doing laundry, that's exactly what I need!! Thanks!❤
Excellent advice! All so true and exactly what worked for me. However, one rule I make for myself is never bring laundry into the living room. Doing that makes my calm space feel like a work space, encourages me to leave it in the Living room and just slows down putting it away. Folding it as it comes out of the dryer and immediately putting it away is my answer. Also, own only one laundry basket so you can’t leave baskets of clean laundry around. Also I say to myself that if I don’t have time to put away a load then I don’t have time to start a new one. I never have clothes in both machines at the same time. Laundry never gets funky because I don’t have time or energy to empty the dryer because it’s always empty when I start a new load. Every morning I empty the dryer then put a new load in on timer. When I get home from work I move it to the dryer. Done for the day.
@@lanamichalski3208 They were refering to starting the washing machine with a timer later in the day to avoid wet laundry sitting in the washing machine for hours.
Get rid of your laundry basket. I put everything in my washing machine and do a load of laundry when it's full. Problem solved. I find out I could wash at low temperature everything together. It saved me so much time and electricity.
That is a smart hack! The only trouble in my particular case is that my laundry room is in the basement, and I often live on the second floor so I'd be going down two floors every time I change, which I don't see myself doing. But honestly if it were in a better location, I'd say that is BRILLIANT
I did that twice and both times ruined shirts when the color from my jeans ran. They were older jeans I had worn for over a year. You haven’t had that happen?! Help!
@@kristieshoemake7343 It happened once with a "fancy" expensive and unconfortable shirt. It was ruined but not the rest of my laundry. Lesson learned. I simplified my wardrobe with only comfy clothes, all are in earthy tones (my favorite colors) and easy to maintain materials. I now have a capsule wardrobe, everything goes together, everything is comfortable and can be washed together. I cringe when I think of all the money and time that I have lost before, dressing for others instead of doing what is best for myself. Maybe you could just make an exception for your jeans and wash them separate from the rest. But I highly recommand a capsule wardrobe and simplify your laundry as best as you can. Worth it.
Silliest comment I've read on the internet so far. So you are saying, you mix your towels, whites, colors and delicates along with darks and jeans in one full load on low temperature, (cold water?) Absurd and Nasty!

I agree do a load of laundry per day or every two days. And my husband and I share all the housework .❤️❤️

Yeah that makes it that much harder!!

So basic but these 5 tips really work!
This is counter intuitive but you have the best button up shirts. Can you share where you find them? Thanks

You let the laundry sit in the washer all day until you get home? I don't think that's a good idea.....it could start to smell a bit funky.....
