I believe Volatello is the same as Tello FPV, which is such a great app! I tried using the stock Tello app after my Pixel 3 updated to Android 11 and it doesn’t even load. Ryze technical support replied to my messages with their standard answer that my phone isn’t supported, which seems ridiculous because it’s a modern Google phone, and they do support the Pixel 2. Agreed, fantastic app and worth every penny as it resolves so many issues the original app has like dropped frame rate when you have bluetooth on your android phone.
I'm gonna get this app ASAP. I can not stand the way the official tello app mapped out the controls its so unintuitive for me and it is my first drone. Thank you for showing this app, I've seen a ton of people endorsing it on reddit and thought they were shills they may be and even if they are idc this app is so worth it if I can remap my controller.
Thing is, the hardware in the drone just does location sensing with the under side sensors, and controls the blades for stability, and other things like that. everything else here is done via programming in the app. So the fact they didn't implement a better feature set in the original app, isn't, or wasn't a limitation on the tellos, it was in the app. Or the coders. Probably making sure it would reach a larger target audience, but for those of us with heftier phones, we miss out - till we get apps like this!
Great review, Steve, and a big thumbs up to the developer. I purchased the App about a month ago and it is indeed very feature rich and the price is small for what you get. Unfortunately, and this is not the fault of the App, when I use the Gamesir T1D controller the received video is too corrupted to use. I’ve tweaked the settings as best as I can but I just can’t tweak it enough so the WiFi and Bluetooth can coexist in harmony. What would be great is if some industrious individual, with better coding skills than myself, could come up with an OTG solution the result would be the Tello would be worth more than its weight in Unobtanium. Regards Nidge.
Update to my post above. I’ve just downloaded the recent update and the video issue is pretty much a non-issue now thanks to the increased adjustment range. This is the App every Tello owner must have. Regards Nidge.

I nearly thought you made this on April 1st. A return to home on a drone with no GPS that actually works? I've seen it claimed, had a couple of toys that claimed to do so but went anywhere but. Lol. This amazed me.
WOW! Cap'n Steve - thanks for pointing out this important and little known breath of life option back to the seemingly dying initial Tello hype - mine was gathering dust on the top shelf of the workshop 🙁 - I'm very surprised with DJI initially endorsing it, that they appear to have just left it to die with no obvious continued interest? Now it's been brought down off my top shelf, dusted off and recharged! Haven't had time to fly with it yet using the new app, I'll comment again when I have time to fly with it - Looks great and well worth another try / fly though! - I think the app developer deserves all Tello owners to invest the less than £5 for his full app (after compatibility test with the demo of course!) - if only to reward his huge effort here and to encourage him to continue with the apps future development - Shame on DJI a little here vs a single persons enthusiastic development 🤔
Dale, I think DJI is going to bring out something small, this year. The Tello and Spark have sold well, and I'm surprised there has not been an announcement of yet. DJI knows that if it makes a product under $500, it will sell like crazy, so I'm pretty sure something is coming this year.
Ok I ordered one last night, it should be here in an hour or two now. This is the second drone you made me buy now, ha haa. Couldn't afford a mini last year so got an eachine ex4 which I still love but shouldn't fly right now in lockdown, and can't afford a mini 2 this year now we can fly sub 250g from our garden and other places we couldn't before and not bigger ones at the minute at all so the tell it shall be. Seems a great indoor and garden flyer while that's my only flight options.
While the tello is old, over the last year I have not been able to find another that quite does what it do. I think it it might be the Eis that seems unique in this bracket. So I ended up ordering one anyway last week!
Videos that I have seen about the Tello all seem to say the same thing...the range is not good. Is that because they are using a phone? Would the range be better with a controller? Thanx...
The Tello has tiny antennas inside and a small receiver, it is not designed for range. You would need to use a WiFi repeater to get the Tello to go really far.
Cheers for letting me know about this app. Whilst it seems a wee bit funky in places, it is leaps above the default. I guess the major issue is no gps. But will be getting it when I am paid, and hopefully my controller arrives tomorrow because I just cannot use the phone and watch the thing, keeps flying into everything when in doors in a not so lit room. And the last thing I want is to take it out the back and test things out only for it to fly over the neighbours fence and get caught in a grumpy old buggers grasp... lol
I hope this app comes to iOS at some point. I really want to use it with my Tello but I don’t own an android device... though I do have the DJI Smart Controller for my Mavic Pro 2, but you can’t load all apps onto it :(
Great video My 9 year old has her tello on the way and I will be getting this app. And as always thanks for the wonderful videos. P.s. just say no to drone hoarder's 😃😆😉
It is a great app and it totally transforms the Tello. I look forward to this talented programmer compiling a better program for the Mavic Mini than DJI Fly.
CAPTAIN DRONE she’s my darling. I just bought a spare battery and a single port charger. I used in my class to teach about future of transportation. I also use it in my house to fly around. Unfortunately I have no means to buy D1S Gamesir controller in Vietnam. Love this little guy. Great innovation.
Thank you for this video. I was devastated to know that I had to buy expensive dedicated controller for my Tello, so I used touchscreen. With this app I can now use my 8bitdo nes30 for my emulations to control the Tello.
Thank You for this video. I bought this app because I am new to drones and this gives me more safety features for my Tello. Do you have a pre-flight checklist?
Partly due to your review I purchased a Tello. I have a Samsung S10 phone but I learned that it is not compatible ( I spoke directly to support). I found it will work with my iPad Pro but then I discovered that the clever new app is for android and n/a for iOS. So I can’t use the controller like yours either. I am uncertain about the firmware update compatibility. I will decide soon whether to keep it in this reduced capacity. Thanks.
I have obtained the new app. Unfortunately, despite repeated attempts it simply does not work with the Samsung Galaxy S10 (and other recent Samsungs). The problem is it fails the very first step - connecting to the Tello WiFi. It seems to connect but a telltale little circle spins around forever... It works on the IPad Pro but the control circles slip around as I try to maneuver (what’s up with that?) and the 10.5” device is a little big as a control unit. Oh well.
@@stevepowsinger733 That is strange. The phone used in my review is a Samsung Note 8. All Damsungs use the same Android interface so perhaps your issue is the internal chip set of your phone not being compatible with the App. I honestly don't know, but the developer of the App would.
After further reading I believe we have solved the problem. I was looking up Q & A on Holystone 700 - Samsung S10 problems and found a suggestion to "turn off Mobile Data and turn on Airplane Mode". Mobile Data didn't seem to work but I think turning on Airplane Mode before connecting did it. The Tello took off with the new app. Thanks again.
Very Cool --- Even 3 and a bit years later -always a pleasure watching your videos...

Really cool thinking about getting my mom a drone for Christmas this seems pretty easy good video
Thank you so much for the information.
Wow! This honestly might make me go out and buy a tello now!
Tell all the 3 stooges to get one !
Brilliant review. Very impressed with the app. Thanks for sharing.
George I've done a heap of videos on it, check em out buddy :)
PERTH WEST OZ RC definitely will good buddy. Cheers mate 👍😊✈️
Pretty neat, Cap'n & a very good find. Nice job!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798...I just heard about that, thanx. Like the cool mug I just received...
Thanks for this!
And the last thing I want is to take it out the back and test things out only for it to fly over the neighbours fence and get caught in a grumpy old buggers grasp... lol
I just knew how to change it to sport mode! Thanks for the information
I hope this app comes to iOS at some point. I really want to use it with my Tello but I don’t own an android device... though I do have the DJI Smart Controller for my Mavic Pro 2, but you can’t load all apps onto it :(
Great info i might get a Tello soon
Tello app is awesome, You can only use it for Android at the moment, which is good for me as I don't have any Apple devices.
Another good review captain 👍
Very nice app. It looks like your surfaces are like ours were too. Thankfully the sun came out for a while.
Right Doug. Today my driveway is a sheet of ice. My car will literally slide down it even with the brakes on.
the bounce feature is used when you're on a boat taking selfie.
Great video
My 9 year old has her tello on the way and I will be getting this app. And as always thanks for the wonderful videos. P.s. just say no to drone hoarder's 😃😆😉
Now there needs to be a walkthough to make your tello foldable. And it would be almost perfect!
Question: Please show how to connect the Gamesir controller to the Volatello app. I have, yet, to figure that out. Thank you .
It is a great app and it totally transforms the Tello. I look forward to this talented programmer compiling a better program for the Mavic Mini than DJI Fly.
I bought a tello after seeing your channel.
And what are your thoughts on the Tello now that you own one?
CAPTAIN DRONE she’s my darling. I just bought a spare battery and a single port charger. I used in my class to teach about future of transportation. I also use it in my house to fly around. Unfortunately I have no means to buy D1S Gamesir controller in Vietnam. Love this little guy. Great innovation.
@@buddyjim3527 That is great to hear that you are enjoying it.
What is the best app to fly my shoX recon drone
Fantastic overview. Rocks!
I give thump.tq 4 this info. Nice drone
Thank you for this video. I was devastated to know that I had to buy expensive dedicated controller for my Tello, so I used touchscreen. With this app I can now use my 8bitdo nes30 for my emulations to control the Tello.
Thanks for the info! I really enjoy the way you explain things - you have my like and subscription :)
wow cool. thank you I just purchased this app. very fun little things.
A nice fine pearl of unique & astonishing content - even if I had sold my tello & spark .. for a Zoom.
Great

thx so much for the sharing! i am going to buy tello, this app looks great!
does your purchase support all your devices?
Thank You for this video. I bought this app because I am new to drones and this gives me more safety features for my Tello. Do you have a pre-flight checklist?
Great video!
Thank you
Partly due to your review I purchased a Tello. Thanks.
Your Android S10 would work with the new App, as well as the controller.
You have the best drone channel out there
Thank you very much
